[AT&T Fiber] High Latency and Erratic Speeds

$

I'm on Gigabit fiber. The last week or two I've noticed my speed tests are all over the place, and my latency is up around 50 - 60ms + (normal is 1 or 2ms). My downstream speeds are consistently bad in real world use (60Mb - 400Mb). One application I use was showing 4% packet loss (which is crazy high). Upstream speeds / latency are also affected, but closer to normal. Gateway is showing speeds in the 800's but latency is 45 - 60ms. Not sure if I have a bad gateway or an issue in ATT's network upstream from my house?

[AT&T Fiber] AT&T Fiber at new apartment building

I have a family member who's moving into a brand new apartment complex that was just completed in the last month. AT&T Fiber is available. In these setups, do they run fiber to each apartment, or is the fiber terminated in a central closet and CATx run to each apartment?

Where to get battery harness for ATT36A12V3S ONT battery backup

I have a ATT36A12V3S Cyberpower ONT battery backup PSU that has never included a battery, as ATT omitted it when first installed since I didn't have phone service (or that's what the tech said, anyway). After recent power outages in my area, I decided to buy and install a battery myself, but when I opened the ONT PSU, I was annoyed to see the battery harness wasn't included. Replacement batteries (including OEM) are easy to find, but I can't find details about the harness itself. I'm specifically referring to item #3 on page 6 of the manual here: https://www.att.com/support_media/images/pdf/phone/CyberPower_PSU.pdf Does anyone know the part number for a compatible harness and where to get one?

BGW210-700 sending constant disassociation requests to client

I have a BGW210-700 on version:2.10.6 SSID: 2.4GHz in G/N mode, WPA-2 My client has Windows 10 1909, with an ax201 WiFi card and the latest Intel drivers. Every few minutes the client is receiving a DisAssoc request with reason code 2, which is "previous authentication no longer valid" On the router under WiFi Client Connection Statistics I can see that this client has hundreds of Disassoc and Deauth counts, while other clients have minimal. If I connect this client to another AP I do not have the same issue. I have tried rebooting the router and resetting the WiFi settings. Has anyone else seen this problem before? Is there a way to figure out why the router is sending the deauth requests?

IP Passthrough on BGW210

So I got a new router and have followed directions I found here on how to put the BGW210 in IP passthrough but still can't get ports to open for an online gaming server. I'm at my wits end here, any advice? I'm trying to open pretty common ports for Destiny 2, CoD Cold War and I have a dedicated Valheim server running (I don't know why, no one can connect to it lol). I have disabled all packet rules and turned off all firewall settings and radios on the BGW after doing the passthrough and all my devices are connecting to the new router and accessing the internet with no issues what so ever. Passthrough shows the MAC of the new router in it but the Default Server Internal Address is greyed out but does have an IP in it but it is not the one of the new router. I read about having only one PC connected when you do the passthrough, which I did last night, but what about other devices (phones, tablets, etc) connected over wifi (I did not shut off the wifi when doing passthrough)? Any help at all would be appreciated, thank you in advance.

2002 Houston Neighborhood w/ Buried Utilities is getting Fiber!

It's my mom's neighborhood in 77070. ~100 homes, straight up middle class. Built during 2002-2004, all buried utilities. So you would think that her neighborhood would be pretty damn low on the list. The copper in the ground should still be good. VRAD right at the entrance to the neighborhood. I saw them bury the lines, they don't take any weird paths. (When we moved in we were the first ones. For 2 weeks all we had was electricity and an Ericsson 1228 on the old AT&T TDMA network if I recall). Speeds offered on the prequal logically decrease as I try addresses farther and farther away from the VRAD. She has bonded pair right now but it's glitchy, so maybe not so good. I am convinced that AT&T just throws darts at a map now, if it lands outside their RBOC areas then they get the day off, and if it lands in one of those depressed BellSouth areas I keep reading about they all have a good laugh and then throw the dart away...

[AT&T Fiber] Hard difficult is it to move the fiber termination box?

I have AT&T fiber. The fiber goes under the house and up just behind my TV where the modem sits. I would like to establish a network closet in my office and move this termination point there. There appears to be ample (excess) slack in the fiber cable to move it there without need to extend it. Can I do this without any specialty equipment?

Is there any actual difference between business fiber and residential fiber? Maybe no modem requirement (or for real business routers) or higher QoS? The price is better this year than before but I don't see any re difference in service. Please help

I have had the same RG, NVG589, for six years with the same IP address. Last night it changed to a new IP without rebooting. No changes in my setup: just the RG. Anyone have an idea why this happened? Has this happened to anyone else lately?

[AT&T Fiber] Thinking of Giving IP Passthrough Another Try

$

About two years ago, I tried IP Passthrough on the BGW210 and an old ER-X-SFP router I have. Unfortunately, I did not get close to full speeds and ended up turning the 210 into essentially a wired router and have Ubiquiti two access points. I am looking into buying the UDM Pro but am now a little concerned about the same issue occurring (especially since the device would not be cheap to return). Researching others experiences, sometimes it seems fine while other times speeds are reduced. Also not sure if this will affect our AT&T VoIP service in any way. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

bypass att pace gateway

ok i kind gentleman started helping me hopefully he sees this or someone else and can help me...I only use directtv and fiber gigabit...no uverse tv or voice... he sent me these instructions,,,,,do I need the dumb switch I have a 4 port router? this is the one I got https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078GWJ44Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I am thinking of this router it has enough ports I don’t need a switch do I? Do the instructions change? 1) Make note of the AT&T Gateway's MAC address and then go into your third party router and change the MAC address of the WAN port of that router to be the same as on the AT&T gateway. 2) With everything from a fully off state, connect just fiber and the power cable to the ONT and power it on. Let it go for ~2 min to make the fiber connection. 3) Power on the dumb switch and connect ONT's Ethernet port to one port of the dumb switch. 4) Connect the WAN port of the AT&T Gateway to another port on the dumb switch and power the Gateway on. 5) Wait 1-2 minutes for the AT&T Gateway to connect. Use the LEDs to determine when it's done. 6) You can now power down the AT&T Gateway and disconnect it from the dumb switch. 7) Connect your router's WAN port to the dumb switch and power the router on. 8) Within a minute or two it should acquire the same IP, gateway and DNS as the gateway had. 9) Enjoy the full speed of your connection and rest easier because you aren't subject to the regular AT&T Gateway firmware updates that break more things than they fix. Essentially what's happening is that the ONT needs authentication for your connection. When you hook the AT&T Gateway to it the authentication comes through and gets stored in the ONT. When you plug in your own router, because it has the same MAC address as the AT&T gateway, the ONT thinks your router is the AT&T Gateway Some notes: You will need to repeat these steps if the ONT or the dumb switch loses power, so many people employ a UPS for these devices. There is no problem if the router itself is power cycled, your connection will retain the authentication as long as the switch and ONT have stayed up. On rare occasions AT&T will do some sort of system maintenance or ONT firmware updates and power cycle the ONT, in which case you'll have to re-do the procedure. You will not get IPV6 although for the majority of users, that's not really a problem and in fact, disabling that often makes for a faster, more stable connection. If it turns out that you do need IPV6 then there are more sophisticated ways to do it using more expensive equipment and requiring extensive networking knowledge.
