As of yesterday I have subscribed to the new AT&T TV service. Here is my take on how things look so far. My setup: - Charter Spectrum 200/10 - AT&T VDSL2 18/2 - Dual WAN router - VLAN 1 is uplinked to the dual WAN router and has failover internet access - VLAN 99 is uplinked to the BGW210 and only has access to the AT&T gateway and services - 1x uverse DVR and 2x uverse STBs hardwired to VLAN 99 - 3x C71KW-200 AT&T TV STBs hardwired to VLAN 99 As you can see I ran the UVerse IPTV service over its own VLAN. For now I have decided to plug the new AT&T TV STBs into the same VLAN so that they only go over my AT&T service. These are hardwired connections. The setup was easy. Plug everything in and turn it on. The first thing you'll do is pair the remote which is basically an idiot proof process. The STB will download updates and reboot. The process takes several minutes so be patient. I also noticed that the STB is very laggy after this first reboot and the live streams may cut in and out a few times. I suspect there is some initialization processes that may be invoked upon first time use. My initial impression is positive. The STBs respond reasonably well to the remote commands. Navigation through the menus and guide are acceptably quick and snappy though it could be better in some areas. It's still a much better experience than the UVerse STBs so that's a win. Changing channels might be a hair slower than UVerse, but still acceptable. The guide does take a couple of seconds to fully populate especially the first time you pull it up and is probably a bit slower in this area compared to UVerse, but it wasn't a terrible experience. I'd much rather have the remote be snappy and responsive and tolerate the 1-2 second delay on the guide than deal with the annoyances of the UVerse experience. Pros: - For the most part the remote is snappy and responsive. - Changing channels is acceptably quick. - The voice commands work really well and I truly mean REALLY well. - Netflix, YouTube, etc. are included by default. - Except for the first 15 minutes after the initial setup when the STBs are laggy the streams seem to be pretty solid and reliable. - The Android app on my phone works pretty well. - My Logitech Harmony remote works well with the C71KW STB. - Overall the OEM remote is pretty good. - The OEM remote automatically learns how to operate the TV (probably figured it out via the HDMI link?). - The C71KW has a small footprint. Cons: - The boot time is 100 seconds. - It's pricey especially after the 12 month promotion. - DVR recordings expire in 90 days (or 30 days according to some literature). - No Amazon Prime app yet. - The navigation arrow buttons on the OEM remote are blended together too much which makes it harder to "feel" which button you are pressing without looking. Observations: - Multicasting is not used for the live streams. If two STBs watch the same live stream it will double the internet bandwidth used. - Multicast packets (like from the old UVerse IPTV) may have been aggravating one of my new AT&T TV STBs. There was some weirdness like failed channel changes and the like that was occurring. I enabled IGMP snooping on that particular endpoint switch and haven't had a problem since. Note...I am NOT saying that you need an IGMP snooping switch to run AT&T TV. I had an atypical situation where I was running BOTH the old UVerse and AT&T TV at the same time on the same switch and without IGMP snooping the AT&T TV STB was being flooded with multicast packets it didn't ask for. Questions: - What happens when I link more than one Google account? Will watch history, favorites, etc. be tied to the user or the STB as a whole? - Is the experience different when I run things over my Charter Spectrum connection? - Is the experience different when using different devices like my XBOX One? I'm sure I'll have more pros/cons, observations, questions later as I learn more. And, of course, if anyone has a question please post and I'll do my best to answer it.

Have fiber install, internet only, scheduled for tomorrow. Had not thought about it before. Switching from cable internet, had Att before but not fiber. Have always used the same router because set up like I want it for my cams. Will new modem have bridge mode or ip passthrough? Should I ask and see if possible for a particular modem? But it has turned out even worse than we expected, because AT&T itself has been calling one of the services by the wrong name in its communications with customers. To recap, AT&T eliminated its DirecTV Now brand name and renamed that service "AT&T TV Now." AT&T also rolled out a completely new service and called it "AT&T TV," the same name without "Now." These two services, with different channel and pricing schemes, are offered through the same app called "AT&T TV." While that is confusing, you'd think AT&T itself would be able to keep track of the names of its own streaming services. But that isn't the case, as AT&T is incorrectly telling customers that the old DirecTV Now service is now called "AT&T TV." "The DirecTV Now you know is getting a new name. Does anyone have a recent firmware file or URL for the Pace 5168NV, from the past few years? The one I've just acquired has the issue where the cached root certificate chain is too old, so it can sync but not connect. I need to manually update the firmware to something newer to make it work.

So I didn't want to keep posting in the other Asus thread but I'm trying to use pfSense and WPA Supplicant. I am on Hyper-V 2019 fwiw. I have my certs extracted When I run any of the example scripts (modifying them for correct interfaces etc.) all I get is: Failed to connect to non-global ctrl_ifname: (nil) error: No such file or directory The process is running as I can see the pid but if I do wpa_cli status I get the message that it failed to connect and re-trying but never works. If I remove the config file and just run as something like this: /usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant -Dwired -ihn0 -B -C /var/run/wpa_supplicant it runs and wpa_cli status shows hn0 (Hyper-V). So it seems like it doesn't like the configuration but it's the same others are using?? Sometimes the system just panics and reboots the second I run it but I think that's related to config issue when trying to use netgraph but for now I'm just trying to get it to run the basic WPA portion so stopped messing with that. I don't even care if it fails to auth at the moment because I do have a switch in place still (which works as a work around for ng vlan0 mess) but I can't get basic wpa to play nice with the configs. Paths are all correct, certs are good etc. Any thoughts? Anyone else run into this? This is all coming from a fresh install. No previous bypass used except the switch method so was a clean pfsense install (made a new one to test with). Thanks in advance!

Everytime someone on this network is streaming from a particular site, it hogs ALL the bandwidth. I thought streaming sites didn't download the whole video in one shot like back in the days and downloads incrementally like youtube? Is there a way to control this and limit the bandwidth being used? I have the BGW210 and apparently there isn't any QOS type of a feature. Any workaround for this? In a situation like this, isn't the bandwidth supposed to balance itself out automatically?

So i have both my router/gateway as well as ONT on battery backup. However, when i lose power(with recent storms 4x in the last few days) i lose my internet for about 1 hour and 12 minutes. The more it happens the more accurate i'm getting with the measurement. Any ATT techs on here that can explain, is the fiber equipment not on battery backups or something. It's pretty annoying, and somewhat suspect that it's always down for the same amount of time.

At some point my VDSL2 75 internet connection went down to 1 line. I'm pretty sure I had 2 lines initially, a few months ago I started noticing slower speedtests around 60/20 mbps rather than 80/20, but never investigated. Maybe some tech stole one of my pairs? Yesterday they finally buried my temporary drop and I noticed this as you can see in the attachment. It's basically maxing out my 1 line. When I put my address in their system they show a max of Internet 50 available now. If I contact support to try to remedy this, should I be concerned their solution will be to drop me to Internet 50? I'd rather stick with my current situation than risk that if it's a legitimate concern. As I understand Internet 50 comes with an upload of only 10 and the only reason I was willing to go to At&t with 75/20 was the upload wasn't far off what Cox offers in my area (35 max).

Was curious if anyone else was using this specific router with att 1000 plan. If so, the options in the advanced settings have all sorts of options that look like could be use to "simplify" bypassing the modem. Don't really wanna shell out $135 for an USG. But I will if I have to if I can't get around their modem. Or if anyone else that uses this router, what were your go to settings? I tried putting the router in AP mode and it significantly improved my wifi speeds and kept them consistent.

Set up ip passthrough on my bgw210 using info from here https://www.dslreports.com/faq/17734 My router is working as it should except port forwarding. I have set up port forwarding with this router, Asus, in the past using different modems. Changed router address to 192.168.2.1 to not conflict with modem and am using new router address in router to forward to. Is there a setting in the bgw210 that needs to be changed to allow port forwarding in the router? Thanks for any help

Is there any chance that AT&T will disable 802.1X authentication for their FTTH service? Is it possible with their current infrastructure or would it require a major overhaul? I know it's possible to do because companies like Google and Cox have been doing it for sometime and there are no issues with allowing direct connections to the ONT. Just wondering about specifically why AT&T does it and if it could, in theory, just be turned off.

Would Att U-Verse tv work if i plugged the DVR Ethernet into my Spectrum router (using Spectrum internet)? Why i ask, i have Uverse tv using att, my internet is provided by spectrum as Att cannot provide me anything over 50mbps. My Uverse tv will disable a tv if i am recording a HD show and watching 2 tvs on HD channels. i know they are slowly rolling out Att TV, but was just curious.

Up until recently there was information on the AT&T multi family property service page (https://www.att.com/att/multifamily-property/) about G.fast and now that's no longer there and on the speed tier page (http://att.net/speedtiers) there was a reference to a 500/200 IPBB tier that would only be possible on G.Fast and that's no longer listed, so did AT&T give up on G.Fast?

I have been hosting a game server at home on my Fiber 1000 connection, and lately a griefer has been giving me grief... DoS Attack details Source IP: Random Source Port: UDP 53 Destination IP: (my IP) Destination Port: (my Game Server's Port) I have seen bandwidth spiking up to about 30mbps during these attacks, and about 1TB per month estimated attack volume. My equipment BGW210 Gateway pfsense firewall between gateway and game server I have tried both block and reject for port 53 on pfsense, but my network connection is going down because of the NAT table being full so nothing I block on pfsense makes any difference. I don't want to do a switch bypass, I don't know how to extract the certificates on a BGW210, and the eapproxy method sounds like it would result in reduced bandwidth. Anybody have any suggestions?

so in summary I have Fiber 1000 and Have the BGW210 in IP pass through and use my nighthawk X6s wifi router. All running newest latest firmware. My X6s has Disney circle, when enabled the speeds drop down from 960 mbps to 300 mbps on the speed tests. After I factory restore both BGW210 and X6s the speeds return back to normal however once circle is enabled again it goes right back to 300 mbps and even if idisable circle it stays there until i facory reset the x6s. What could my issue be?

Bought if off ebay new and unused. Stuck on 1.0.29_AT21 firmware tried manually updating and tried factory reset still will not update..There some setting that needs to be turn off or on?
