[AT&T Fiber] Bypass Hardware List

I think we should have a list of known working hardware for the gateway bypass, so I'm starting a thread for it. Edit: I made a Google form to make this a bit easier to glance at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1jyy3sCp5AbR1vc74FP82DBu8tTesazzTKNApWYTJno0/

ATT Tech Late - No Install - Fiber

Well, I finally closed on my new home last week. I scheduled installation for ATT Fiber 2 days later. The technician was supposed to arrive between 1 PM and 3 PM, however not only did he not arrive during his scheduled time for a 4 hour installation, but he was also 3 hours late. Once he arrived, he poked around in my yard with a metal pole trying to find the fiber manhole for probably 10 mins, then came back into my house and proceeded to tell me the builder must have buried the manhole and he could do nothing about it. So, I called my PM since they are still building in the neighborhood and he proceeded to tell me that the manholes are at property lines and are every 2 houses, not every house. The ATT Tech obviously didn't want to have to be at my house until 9-10PM so I think he just didn't want to locate it. He says they are going to have to bore a new one under my brand new driveway and it will be 3 weeks. How would you all handle this situation? The primary fiber box is across the street from me and there is a manhole on each side of the road to pull the fiber under the road. Can he not string the fiber across my yard until they can come to bury it? The local contractor office reached out to me yesterday and said they that will only come to locate the service since the tech could not but again, would be up to 3 weeks away.

bypass att pace gateway

ok i kind gentleman started helping me hopefully he sees this or someone else and can help me...I only use directtv and fiber gigabit...no uverse tv or voice... he sent me these instructions,,,,,do I need the dumb switch I have a 4 port router? this is the one I got https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078GWJ44Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I am thinking of this router it has enough ports I don’t need a switch do I? Do the instructions change? 1) Make note of the AT&T Gateway's MAC address and then go into your third party router and change the MAC address of the WAN port of that router to be the same as on the AT&T gateway. 2) With everything from a fully off state, connect just fiber and the power cable to the ONT and power it on. Let it go for ~2 min to make the fiber connection. 3) Power on the dumb switch and connect ONT's Ethernet port to one port of the dumb switch. 4) Connect the WAN port of the AT&T Gateway to another port on the dumb switch and power the Gateway on. 5) Wait 1-2 minutes for the AT&T Gateway to connect. Use the LEDs to determine when it's done. 6) You can now power down the AT&T Gateway and disconnect it from the dumb switch. 7) Connect your router's WAN port to the dumb switch and power the router on. 8) Within a minute or two it should acquire the same IP, gateway and DNS as the gateway had. 9) Enjoy the full speed of your connection and rest easier because you aren't subject to the regular AT&T Gateway firmware updates that break more things than they fix. Essentially what's happening is that the ONT needs authentication for your connection. When you hook the AT&T Gateway to it the authentication comes through and gets stored in the ONT. When you plug in your own router, because it has the same MAC address as the AT&T gateway, the ONT thinks your router is the AT&T Gateway Some notes: You will need to repeat these steps if the ONT or the dumb switch loses power, so many people employ a UPS for these devices. There is no problem if the router itself is power cycled, your connection will retain the authentication as long as the switch and ONT have stayed up. On rare occasions AT&T will do some sort of system maintenance or ONT firmware updates and power cycle the ONT, in which case you'll have to re-do the procedure. You will not get IPV6 although for the majority of users, that's not really a problem and in fact, disabling that often makes for a faster, more stable connection. If it turns out that you do need IPV6 then there are more sophisticated ways to do it using more expensive equipment and requiring extensive networking knowledge.

AT&T Fixed Wireless system installed 8/27/2019

New service in our rural area marketed as AT&T Fixed Wireless has been installed. System uses AT&T cellular towers and frequency: LTE Band 30 - 2300Mhz. DSL speed tests show 49.7Mbps down and 23.41Mbps up with a tower 2 miles distant. The download bandwidth is about twice what we receive via Verizon cellular. This unlimited service is $40/mo for 215GB.

BGW210 Firmware 1.9.14/15/16

Just after midnight today (Thursday, March 14th) my internet went down and when it came back up I saw that the firmware on my BGW210 upgraded to 1.9.14. Wonder what's new and changed? Download here: http://gateway.c01.sbcglobal.net/firmware/001E46/BGW210-700_1.9.14/spTurquoise210-700_1.9.14.bin

[AT&T Fiber] Promo Ending

As I have mentioned in previous threads, my promo ends in two weeks that will result in a $67/month increase so I called today to see if I could get a better deal. First lady said there was a promo for military, police, or firefighters of which I am none. Then she tried to get me to change my wireless carrier to AT&T which would result in an all of $10/month savings netting still a $57/month increase. :uhh: I then asked to be transferred to retentions. The lady there said that I should wait until at least a day after the promo ends, get socked with the full increase, and then call back and then there will be promos available for them to offer me. Is there any truth in that? Thanks for any info.

Will BGW210-700 work for me

I only have 18 down and 1 up will this gateway work or needs to be used with ONT?

[AT&T Fiber] Any way to bypass att modem using ASUS GT-AC5300?

Was curious if anyone else was using this specific router with att 1000 plan. If so, the options in the advanced settings have all sorts of options that look like could be use to "simplify" bypassing the modem. Don't really wanna shell out $135 for an USG. But I will if I have to if I can't get around their modem. Or if anyone else that uses this router, what were your go to settings? I tried putting the router in AP mode and it significantly improved my wifi speeds and kept them consistent.

why is this even offered?

[General] Myconnectionconnectiong

ACC Network

Anybody know if U-verse plans on having the ACC network specifically in Louisville Kentucky? We have to put up with the SEC network so it's only fair that we get the ACC network!!

ATT gig fiber, goes down for an hour everytime i lose power

So i have both my router/gateway as well as ONT on battery backup. However, when i lose power(with recent storms 4x in the last few days) i lose my internet for about 1 hour and 12 minutes. The more it happens the more accurate i'm getting with the measurement. Any ATT techs on here that can explain, is the fiber equipment not on battery backups or something. It's pretty annoying, and somewhat suspect that it's always down for the same amount of time.

[IP-TV] U-Verse Disaster Channel?

I remember U-Verse running a temporary weather disaster channel in affected areas. Well now I'm in a potentially affected area and I don't see such a channel yet. When do they put it on? Thanks.

[IP-TV] AT&T TV to replace U-Verse TV

Here is the URL for AT&T's upcoming replacement for U-Verse TV. https://www.att.com/tv/?cjevent=effd0cb6b30e11e981df00130a1c0e0b&source=EC1NAT10600aff12A Notice the top no longer lists U-Verse TV as an option. But, it does if you switch to say the DirecTV page because the site is not live linked yet. Edit: It now lists U-verse at the top as of 8/19.

[VDSL] Line stats..should I be concerned?

These are my current line stats, last reboot was just over 4 days ago. I have alot of FEC errors on the upstreams. Is this something I should talk to At&t about? Thanks in advance

ATT Fiber Drops Multiple Times A Day

I have had U-Verse 1gig fiber service since 2016, and it has been trouble free until about a week ago. I logged 15 disconnects in a 5 hour period, and that trend has continued every day since it began. I've called support and they sent a new modem, it did not resolve the issue. All tests that I've ran show no line noise. I replaced my own router with a brand new Netgear Nighthawk, having seen a bad switch cause problems in the past, but that didn't change anything. I've disconnected other devices, disabled WiFi, leaving only 1 PC connected via Ethernet, and the disconnects still happen. When it happens, I'll lose internet for several minutes where the modem lights appear to be fine, then after a couple minutes the Service light goes out, then comes back flashing, then steady and I'm reconnected. I may stay connected for several hours, or it may disconnect every 10-15 minutes for an hour or 2. So far support has replaced the modem, the following day when it continued they asked me to disconnect my "3rd Party Device" It's a modem, everything connected to it is a 3rd party device, but I disconnected my Netgear router and that had no effect. Now they said they will monitor the line and call me back in 24 hours, but if anyone has any ideas, or solutions, I'd appreciate it. I'm a telecommuter, working from home, so reliable internet service is essential for me. I started typing this as soon as it came back up, and by the time I tried to post, it was down again. I have attached logs from several disconnects today, if that is of any help.

This is getting on my nerves....Incompetence of some ATT techs.

Saw a att truck out at our neighbors house to repair their u-verse connection last Friday. As the repair was underway at their house, the connection at my house goes down. So I go out to talk to the tech and he told me there was an outage and it should be resolved by the afternoon (He didn't specify if it was an area outage). Fine, I went to work (I work as an auxiliary HS football official) a HS football game and when I came home at 12.30 Saturday morning (Delayed kickoff due to lightning delay), the connection was still down. I proceeded to call ATT tech support and they ran through all the standard troubleshooting steps. They determined it was a problem with their line somewhere, so a tech roll was scheduled for Monday (although I had to reschedule for Sunday instead, my mom was going crazy with no TV at the house :D) So tech comes out on Sunday, first to my house to check the NID box, which he found to be fine. He proceeded to go to the neighborhood VRAD. Upon his return to the house after reestablishing our connection, he told me that another tech had cut our line at the VRAD, thus causing my residence to be without internet. He did tell us he did tag the line, so as to not disconnect us in the future, but we shall see. So, do I have any recourse as to what to do should to prevent this in the future, even though the tech that came and fixed it said he did tag our line to prevent disconnection? This is the second time it has happened to me through no fault of my own, but to me, it seems like the incompetence of some ATT techs is unreal.

Moving down the road (both loc. Fiber) - keep static IPs?

I'm probably going to be moving down the road to a bigger apartment (a townhome) in another complex. Both apartments have AT&T Fiber. I should be able to keep my same static IPs right? Same account number and all - just transfer it down the street? I'm a bit worried since I heard they won't sell static IPs anymore, but I've never actually transferred my account either, whenever I moved I would wind up getting cable or DSL Extreme or something.
