Does anyone have an official reason from AT&T why they have such pitiful NAT Session limits on their U-Verse and Fiber services, even when customers use their own firewalls? I just noticed the other day my NVG599 in bridge mode is showing a limit of 4096 sessions, and I can't even adjust timeouts, etc. so DNS was eating up half my sessions. Is ~1MB all they could squeeze free in this box?

So we had a new pole installed by the power company earlier this week behind our house after the old one broke in a storm. AT&T came out Friday to move their lines to the new pole. The guy was from the local construction garage. I was asking him about Fiber and he said that they are going to stop their fiber build out on June 1st. I'm guessing he meant in this area (St. Louis metro on the IL side), but I was wondering if any other AT&T peeps had heard anything like that? This guy seemed to be VERY familiar with the local plant (residential, commercial, cellular). I was disappointed to hear that there's little chance of us getting fiber in this neighborhood. TD

This is going to be long so I apologize in advance. I switched to 1gig ATT fiber last week from Comcast primarily to avoid data caps and for the increased speed. I never had any gaming issues on the Comcast connection with my current hardware which is an Orbi RBK50 “mesh” router, and a PS4 Pro. As soon as I switched to fiber I have been having lots of latency/rubber banding and lag issues. I want to continue to use my Orbi or some other third party mesh router because the ATT boxes SUCK. First they installed the Arris BGW210-700 and I set it to IP passthrough mode to my Orbi but I was still experiencing lag and rubber banding. During my reading with the BGW i tried both enabling/disabling UPnP and port forwarding the specifics ports for PS4 gaming. After complaining to ATT they sent out a tech who switched out the Arris for the Pace Model. I set that to DMZ Plus and it still did not feel right compared to the Comcast (which I have yet to cancel because I was to make sure this is going to work out first). After setting the Pace to DMZ Plus my speeds were capped at around 50d/l. I was able to circumvent that for a time by cloning the MAC or the pace in my routers settings but that appeared to only work temporarily. Long story short, I’ve not been happy with this experience thus far due to the crappy hardware ATT shoved down my throat. I have seen a few workarounds on here and other sites but I’m not sure which route to go. I’m really looking for suggestions from anyone else that has been in my situation. Primarily my issue is with gaming and the apparent double NAT using router behind ATT’s communist box. So, my question is what do others recommend to solve my issue? If I were to go the bypass route is there a “dumb switch from Ubiquiti that would work easily? Would a EdgeRouter qualify as a dumb switch? If not what switch do others recommend to achieve this bypass setup? Would maybe just installing an EdgeRouter 4 allow me to use SQM to solve my lag issues? Keep in mind I still want to continue using my Orbi or some other mesh solution. I will not ever use ATT’s crappy WiFi / mesh extendeders. I apologize is this topic has been addressed ad nauseam. I have AT&T Fiber (1 Gbps) at home in Irvine. I will be in Fremont for a few months and want to know which is faster/better/reliable Xfinity Gigabit or AT&T Fiber. I would assume both services are fiber (new construction) and I will be using Ubiquiti network equipment USG Pro (hence will go for the bypass with AT&T). Which service should I opt for? Will I have a faster connection to my home network (Plex/Nextcloud, etc...) in Irvine if I opt for AT&T?

So I already have 10gbps AT&T dedicated businesses fiber to my house. Don't ask why lol. So since my neighbor asked me, when will AT&T bring fiber to their house? and then it started to get the pretty much the whole town, asking me when it coming. Since I had no clew when it coming, tried calling them and ask them, if any chances their bringing fiber to our town. Nope, no answer from the rep. I am not sure what it is but our BGW210 has laggy WiFi at times. Sites simply won't load until I turn WiFi off then back on. I tried a factory reset which temporarily solved the issue but now it is back to being laggy. Could it due to the fact it is automatically picking the channel? Hardwired connection works great. We had a similar issue with the 5268AC so perhaps it is some sort of interference as well. We had our old Comcast Gateway in the exact same spot and never had WiFi issues so I can't figure it out. I'm considering a switch from Comcast because their overcompressed "HD" channels look like SD. Faces in anything but a closeup are smeared and difficult to distinguish, fast moving objects like basketballs are hard to see on the screen (forget trying to figure out where something small like a baseball or hockey puck is), and there are significant aliasing and moire artifacts. Unfortunately, I'm in a 50/10 area for AT&T and I'm pretty sure we're on the "wait for it to rot" plan, so I doubt you'd actually get anything near that and I'd expect it to get worse over time. Also, some channels in the lineup don't have HD tags (like Syfy), which is disturbing. I assume U-verse serves locals, but they don't show up in the guide AT&T gives for my area. A few places are getting Gigapower, but it's a patchwork with no clear rhyme or reason for why they're getting it and others aren't. How is picture quality? Is the DVR reliable and easy to use?

Hey guys, Just wondering if there's any known method of automatic bypass with the Google WiFi. I've used Ubiquiti equipment in the past and I know how to configure it but ultimately preferred the Google WiFi for its simplicity and ease of use, especially for setting up a mesh network. Now I realize with just the Google WiFi alone this won't be possible, so I don't mind setting up another device in between the ONT and Google WiFi. I've done this in the past with the ER-X and eap_proxy. Problem is that the ER-X is the device that actually gets assigned the public IP address, and then I'm back to a double NAT setup (I realize this is still better than the crippled DMZ+ mode of the gateway). If anyone has any clever ideas or some other interesting setup to solve this I'd be happy to know!

Hi, We woke yesterday to all our DVR recordings gone. We have a IPH8010. No on screen message about any problems. I rebooted the DVR and no return of recordings. Unplugged both DVR and RG. no luck. So, at this point we are ok with them gone. I do a soft reset of DVR, Hold down ok, power, down. I get the Gears and it does its thing. DVR comes back on, all settings fine and of course no recordings. Last night we have 3 things set to record. One show starts and we see it on the recordings list. We wake today and no recordings at all. A hour ago I did a whole home reset? Everything unplugged for a few minutes. Then let RG boot up. Then let DVR boot up. no recordings. Im stumped. Maybe a factory reset? thank you!

Anyone know of a compatible SFP for the cable going to the ONT? It seems AT&T uses an SC/APC connector whereas most are SC/UPC.

Assuming I don't go the bypass route, what's the most decent gateway I can try to get from at&t? Fiber install. Internet only.

Just for kicks, I ran AT&T's GigaFiber speed test and was getting only upper 300s to lower 400s Mbps, although the upload was in the upper 800s to middle 900s. I also have a device on the LAN that, among other things, periodically runs speed tests. I had noticed they have trended down for the mid-900s that I got initially when the connection was installed about 14 or 15 months ago. I call tech support and got a fast-talking guy with a heavy accent. He decided that my firmware wasn't up-to-date (I thought it updated itself automatically) and is sending a new modem/gateway to arrive tomorrow morning. He claims that will fix the speed problem. May be. What is really weird is that it will no longer accept the access code stamped on the side of the gateway. I checked and rechecked, copied and pasted, typed in directly - nothing works. The tech support guide didn't seem to want to be bothered, I guess because he was sending a new modem which he claimed will fix all sins. Has anyone else seen this behaviour? Perhaps relevant is that we had lots of thunderstorms night before last and the power went off and came back on briefly at least three times that night. Killed my old G4 iMac (the pod-like thing) but everything else survived - with the possible exception of the BGW210-700. TIA

I'm not going to knock Comcast, had business internet for $90 a month, over provisioned to 86/18 from 75/17. My area has been a nightmare with keeping a cable "Floating" and around 3 to 6 months have always had an issue of no service or tempered service. Now weather (wind) pixilated TV service and caused excessive modem errors and two cables hang over one another. Simply got tired of that issue and for almost 6 months, not being able to stream from Amazon or Netflix at all, in fact cancelled Netflix over a month ago because of "Peering" issues -No, everything but the modem and router was replaced and it was only a consequence over the last half year. I realize my area must have line issues for Comcast, though, well perhaps. Certainly Peering is the hidden agenda item, nobody is supposed to know about, at least on a business line. Install of AT&T fiber direct to the AT&T modem router and bridged to my router went without issues, however communication really was sub par, apparently the fiber line was broken, line techs worked on it and Brian the install (house side) stated there was an issue at the pole, that was fine, long as I knew. however around 1:30pm the following day, I finally gave up trying to figure out when I would get service, it took over two hours and three reps to get an answer -Essentially there was a broken fiber line & was fixed, but zero communication regards the next step to house install. Andrew showed up 3 days after the install date, after finally getting a time/date to complete the work and he made it painless. 420/360 raw for 300/300 account. I hope AT&T can keep a line to the building hooked! I hope that I don't pay for a streaming service I can't use (only streaming I have not tested), 1080i and 760 is pretty much the same as Comcast for TV, however it's a fraction of the price, went from HD Preferred with Comcast (around 60 channels) for $144.50 + $89.99 [$234.99] for business internet to TV 450 (around 500 channels) and 300/300 fiber for $205 with tax. Downside? Well, perhaps I went from an average 10msec lag to 23msec and don't understand why a fiber line would have significant lag? But, bang for buck can't be argued at all. Uptime is still to be determined. Have to admit I would not have done this without a fiber option, will see over time how this pans out. Cheers -NLR, AR.

How is AT&T fiber vs Cox? AT&T is rolling out fiber in our area wondering what people think of it and how their fiber optic connection works. AT&T phone rep couldn't explain how it was different than DSL or if was fiber to premises or fiber to node with last mile copper. For San Diego AT&T 50 Mbps the Internet 50 and phone is about $80 with taxes (we do streaming vs having TV) ad I expect more plans will show when the finish the rollout. We've had Cox here and have been happy with it. It's s fiber to node and last mile copper and we have Preferred 100 the 100 Mbps 10 up plan. Obviously, fiber to premises is going to be a better connection but anything over 50 Mbps down and 5 Mbps is plenty for our small household. We had AT&T for a short period of time several years ago and the customer service and connectivity were terrible. Have friends that use UVerse and it's better than the DSL they had but slower than Cox and AT&T service is horrible.

Recently had AT&T 300/300 FTTP installed. Setup the Pace 5268AC to run DMZ+ mode to an Asus RT-AC86U router, and while being hard-wired into the Asus I'm seeing speeds of 50/200. Hard-wired into the the 5268AC I get 350/350. The ATT Gateway lan is setup to run on the 172.16.0.1 address, The Asus is 192.168.1.1. I've also tried a WRT1900AC router and received identical speeds of 50/200 under the DMZ+ mode. I've tried multiple solutions from searching this issue, but have yet to find a resolution. At the moment I'm not sure what firmware the ATT box is running, later this afternoon I'll be able to pull that information. Anyone been in the same boat and found a way to resolve this? It seems like anything assigned as DMZ+ immediately gets a bandwidth restriction.

Hello. If it's possible to bypass the 210 - can someone link a method, I have UVerseTV and fiber service 1 hardwired dvr and 1 wireless stb. Lately webpages have been loading slowly and its getting annoying, downloads run as normal. Even port fowarding is iffy with it sometimes. I have seen bypass methods but its for users with internet only. :( Much appreciated, thanks.

No Icons in On Demand for CBS or NBC. So can’t watch at The Amazing Race episode which aired Wednesday on the iPad app. But on the DVR, CBS on demand content is there. Anyone else seeing this discrepancy?
