So, I have taken the plunge and replaced my PFSense firewall with a Ubiquity USG. This is an affordable device, around $110 on Amazon, and is the perfect companion to Ubiquiti Unifi wireless access points and its controller if you happen to use any. For the same reason as "rockstar" did with his PFSense thread, I decided to open up a separate topic for those searching for information, without having to go through the "True Bypass" monster thread.
During my research before purchasing, I came across this gem:
https://blog.taylorsmith.xyz/att-uverse-modem-bypass-unifi-usg/
It explains in clear steps what you have to do. The most difficult portion is the trimming of the .json file somewhere halfway. I spent a good 20 minutes on it, and the examples that were given on the site above were of good help.
Remember: when you start following the guide above, you will eventually disconnect from the internet, so make sure you have all the sites open you want open, and have all the files you need before proceeding. Make sure you read every step, don't skip any.
PROS:
Latency decrease. As if the gigapower itself wasn't good enough, a ping to 8.8.8.8 has changed from 3-4ms to a solid 2ms. If you are further away from bigger datacenters, the latency decrease can actually be noticeable.
Speed: Speedtests are the same, really.... 930/930 to 940/940, the maximum you can push through gigabit. No change.
DPI: This is with deep packet inspection enabled on the USG, so you can really keep check to see where your data is going. This is actually a cool feature, it shows you exactly how much hundreds of applications take in data, ranging from Facebook to P2P/Torrent to Netflix to OneDrive to Speedtest.net to Gmail to online games, you name it, and all displayed in a userfriendly and accessible way.
CONS:
No decent IPv6 support yet. Ubiquiti is working on it, and current firmware has "alpha" support for it, but it will be coming soon. If you need IPv6 NOW, don't use this.... if you can wait a few months till Ubiquiti really has their IPv6 ironed out, we may be able to get it to work in a similar fashion. It may actually work now, I just haven't gotten around to really testing it yet.
NEUTRAL:
I have static IP's. I have them mostly "just because", for the geekness of it, to run servers etc.... but the reality is I managed to consolidate all those back to the one DHCP IP for now (which never changes anyways), so I can take my sweet time figuring out how to get them to work. I'm sure its not that hard, just will take some digging.

[AT&T Fiber] Easy way to bypass BGW200-700?
Is there an easy way to bypass the Gateway without buying extra equipment? It seems that all the solutions require some sort of extra equipment, file or command line? I am new to AT&T, I had Verizon FIOS and I was able to use my router straight from the ONT with a CAT5 cable. So far the only way to do it was with the IP Passthrough. Can anyone guide me in the right direction?Thank you, I appreciate any help you can give me.

[AT&T Fiber] Finally joining the Fiber world!
I am in the process of moving to a new place soon and this was a welcomed sight mounted on the wall.
AT&T comes Wednesday to set up service. Kind of wishing they didn't require a tech or gateway to set up service because as you can see the AT&T ONT is already seeing PON signal.

[AT&T Fiber] Bypass Hardware List
I think we should have a list of known working hardware for the gateway bypass, so I'm starting a thread for it.
Edit: I made a Google form to make this a bit easier to glance at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1jyy3sCp5AbR1vc74FP82DBu8tTesazzTKNApWYTJno0/

Have anyone cloned the MAC address of the gateway to bypass the Gateway? My router can clone a MAC address and hopefully that will work better than IP Passthrough.

Anyone else get this new firmware? Found it odd that it updated in the middle of the day..
I’ve noticed that upload on WiFi more consistent. I’m getting 350/350 vs. 350/80 on 1.5.12.

Any way to get the BGW210
I currently have the AC5268, works ok but buffers or slow at times. Any way to get the BGW210? I have fiber 1000.

[AT&T Fiber] Does anyone know when will fiber coming to neighborhood?
So I already have 10gbps AT&T dedicated businesses fiber to my house.
Don't ask why lol.
So since my neighbor asked me, when will AT&T bring fiber to their house? and then it started to get the pretty much the whole town, asking me when it coming. Since I had no clew when it coming, tried calling them and ask them, if any chances their bringing fiber to our town.
Nope, no answer from the rep.
So maybe if anyone has a good answer when will AT&T fiber bring to fiber to our town.
Since I got almost the whole town asking me, when will fiber come.
Thank's everyone!

[VDSL] AT&T tells me I can longer run at 50 Mbps down / 12 Mbps up
I have had 50 down and 12 up for sometime. (Probably close to two years or more) I also have U-verse tv (not HD)
It is running with bonding. When I first went from 25 down / 2 up to the higher speed it worked fine. I verified this with speedtest multiple times. I have asked AT&T techs more than once and I know that there is fiber to the "node" where it then goes copper to my house.
So roughly about three months ago I started noticing slower performance. Running speed test I am lucky if I get 30 Mbps down and 7 Mbps up. I have tested this with WiFi and wired ethernet.
I ran the AT&T app and it indicated an issue. I had a tech come out last Saturday. He tested my gateway, the wiring going from my home office all the way to the AT&T box and the card in the AT&T node. He could not find an issue. I have been told that I need to have my profile changed to 25 Mbps down. The tech told me I was at 3000 line feet and in order to have 50 Mbps I would need to be at 2600 feet max. The tech also told me that he has seen other customers who have the same speed as I do experience this issue this year.
So here is where I am confused and unhappy. No one at AT&T can give me an explanation as to why I can no longer get the 50 Mbps down even though it worked before and nothing has changed. So I called up retention after the tech left. Retention ran a test and said there was a loop problem. So another tech called me on Sunday and we discussed this. He said there was no issue and there was no record of a test being run after the first tech had left. Add to that what I heard about other customers having the same issue.
I was told the only way I can get the 50 Mbps down and 12 Mbps up is to get rid of my U-verse tv. Assuming I even do that that leaves the problem of what do I about tv service :-)
I don't really have a choice (from my point of view) to switch ISP's. I run static IP at home along with servers.
I'm an IT person with decades of experience so AT&T's explanation makes no sense given the history and the facts.
So does anyone have a clue or suggestion as to what is going or what I can get AT&T to do? Fiber would solve my issue :-)
Fiber is available at the new homes being built in my development. And about four or five years ago AT&T did put fiber into an existing neighborhood about a mile from me. And I have contacted AT&T every few months about fiber availability.
Last November they sent out some engineers to look into it after I contacted them. I then received an e-mail that stated it was available. I tried to order it but it did not show up. I chatted with AT&T and they told me it was an announcement that they are starting to provide fiber. This was something I did not appreciate.
Sorry to be writing a novel but this has gone beyond being a soap opera.
And to add to this when my house was built sixteen years ago another provider did provide fiber to the curb. That provider went bankrupt but to the best of my knowledge the fiber is still in the ground.

[AT&T Fiber] VERY slow network with AT&T Fiber
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I'll try to get the obvious questions out of the way...
My home network (everything on my side of the gateway) is very slow, especially uploads - which are ridiculously slow.
Service us AT&T Fiber (Internet 1000), installed about 2 months ago with new fiber to the house.
Equipment is Arris BGW210-700 with the most recent firmware. Also have 2 AT&T Smart WiFi Extenders, but have tested both with and without the extenders and they are not relevant to this issue.
Troubleshooting after some recent timeouts on uploads and overall abysmal upload speeds. Running speed tests to common speed test sites (e.g. speedtest.net, speedtest.att.com, etc.), I'm getting between 280 Mbps and 500 Mbps download speeds (I would expect better with 1000 Mbps service) and 2-28 Mbps upload speeds (it varies) - which is completely unacceptable.
I've run the speed tests from the gateway itself and also with the AT&T SmartHome app - and it consistently tests between 900 Mbps - 980 Mbps, for both downstream and upstream, so no problem there.
The speed is on the LAN side of the gateway, both Ethernet and WiFi. Is the hardware defective and am I missing something?
I did a full factory reset on the BGW210-700 last night (hold down the red reset button for 15 seconds). Test results after were the same as before the reset.
Testing from a computer connected directly to the gateway via CAT6 Ethernet test 290 Mbps down and 28 Mbps up. (Yes, the computer does have a 1 GB NIC in it and it's properly configured).
Testing from an iPhone 8 via WiFi results in 490 Mbps down and 1.5 Mbps up.
Suggestions?

POTS ONT Still Available?
Hey everyone,
We have been told that the fiber build will pass our neighborhood sometime this year. I know that AT&T used to install an outside ONT which had physical connections for POTS. I see that most new installs use an inside ONT without a provision to connect inside wiring for POTS.
I know that AT&T will sell POTS over fiber, but do they provide the requisite ONT to support it? In the instance that they don't, it appears they leave copper in place, so I suppose I'll just keep it that way until they retire it completely.
Thanks!

ATT Uverse
I live in a neighborhood that is basically a one road circle. One side has charter and high speed Att Uverse options and the other side (my side) only has Att uverse. The highest speed for Uverse i can technically get is 25mbps but since my house is so far away from something(I'm not sure what they called it) I can only get 12 mbps or my service will be worse than it already is. I've contacted Att And Charter several times and had many technicians come out and tell me there's nothing that they can do. I'm asking for help with any options or tactics that you guys may be able to provide because i'm at my wit's end with slow, unreliable internet. The bill comes each month whether my service is working properly or not so i feel they(Att) should be responsible for accomodating me. I really would prefer Charter but they said something would need to be installed on my side of the neighborhood and they aren't willing to do that. The power lines are underground in my neighborhood so i'm not sure if that affects anything. Any help is appreciated.

[AT&T Fiber] NVG595 and wpa_supplicant Bypass
There is an NVG595 gateway with built in fiber connection which can be bypassed with the cert bypass method using an ER4 and a fiber SFP. Anyone know any details? I know it is said the ONT is tied to your account so not sure how this would work but the NVG595s are out there and at least one person on the devicelocksmith blog has claimed to have bypassed it and run the fiber directly into his gateway.
Would be great to get rid of the ONT and have one less box in the closet!

What Happened to the Uverse Phase Out?
Original Bellsouth Americast subscriber here who switched from Comcrap back to AT&T 3 years ago at my house in GA when AT&T finally upgraded the IFITL in our neighborhood to gigafiber. So far, I’ve enjoyed the service and it’s been stable with a relatively good value for the money in the U200 package. My only complaint is the limited OnDemand content. My promotion recently expired, but I managed to get it renewed for another 2 years into February 2021.
I am honestly kind of surprised the Uverse TV platform is still around, as I remember a few years ago, it sounded like it was being phased out. What’s the plan for UVerse TV, and do you expect it to be around much longer now that AT&T is apparently rolling out a IPTV box for full DirecTV service that can apparently be used with any ISP?

Script to check ATT Fiber coverage
I got the inspiration from the Century Link forum for mapping availability of ATT Fiber in a particular area.
The idea is to grab a box on google maps using two addresses (NE and SW) then get a list of addresses and pass that on to the ATT Fiber availability webpage. Well I spent a day learning Python and another porting the code to AT&T and here is result

Please see my github page here for the scripts

Next task would be to do something like this

This can cull through large addresses and create a super detailed plots like this

[AT&T Fiber] Looks like we are getting fiber
Around June 2016 I had asked an AT&T guy working at the vrad when he thought we might get fiber. He said he would be surprised if we didn't have it by the end of the year.
Last year some of the utility poles in our neighbourhood were replaced. Actually, they were added next to the old poles. The power lines were moved to the new poles after not very long. Toward the end of last year Comcast moved their lines to the new poles. Earlier this year AT&T moved their lines to the new poles except for the pole in front of our house.
Around a couple weeks ago my wife noticed AT&T on the main road. They were running large orange conduit from one side of the main road to the other. The conduit was ran to a set of boxes that are around 100' from the vrad. I have no idea exactly what was going on because they were always gone when I would come home from work. Except for a few orange flags, you would not know they had been there. She saw them maybe two or three more times on the main road and in our neighbourhood.
Earlier this week, she said they were working on the pole in front of our house. I came home and their wiring was moved to the new pole.
I am off work today. As we left our neighbourhood this morning there were some contractors working on the lines. I had to be at an appointment so I couldn't stop and talk to them.
We came home later and they were right past our house, so I stopped and talked to one of them. I asked if they were putting up fiber. He said yes. I asked when he thought it might be ready. He said in about a month. I know he may not really know the when part, but thought I would ask anyway.
I included a few photos if anyone was interested.
