We have the 5268AC Pace Modem from the new installation a year or more ago. During this cold weather the service went down and tech support insisted that it was our modem. Even though we told them everyone was out in our GIG Apartment Community. They insisted on sending a new modem. So now I have it and, of course, we have been working great since the ATT crew on the side of the road that same day fixed whatever was wrong. Do I use the new modem and have to change all of our devices passcodes or do I leave well enough alone? Any advantage to a modem made Jan '19 than the older one other than its newer? Thanks

Woke up to find my 5268AC had rebooted earlier this morning to install 10.6.0.530094-att. Looked through it briefly and did not notice any obvious GUI changes.

Swapped my VIP2250 for an IPH8010 I bought on eBay. After all the hysterics on my other thread, ATT activated the box no questions asked. Took a few hours and 3 phone calls, but works fine, and kept my series passes (not the "Channels" options, which must be local to the box). The boxes uses a laptop 2.5 inch drive, going to try an SSD as well as a larger drive to see if I can get better speed (and less heat, with an SSD) or more space than the 1 TB in it now.

I was lucky to get FTTP and Gigapower while in my house in Florida (also DirecTV, which was a bad choice for storm-heavy Florida). I lost FTTP when I was relocated back to California (San Diego 92008 area) so I had to move to Spectrum 300/20, which worked fine. Now 1Gbps U/D Gigapower is available and is being installed in my home on Friday along with w/U-Verse 300. While in Florida I had configured and placed their PACE 5268AC gateway into what I call "pseudo-bridge mode", aka DMZ+. This let me use my router to see the WAN IP address and not the LAN IP. 1. Per what I am reading I believe that this hasn't changed and that at&t still doesn't support BRIDGE mode. Is this still the case? 2. Any ideas what gateway is used over here (92008) and if I can place the gateway into Bridge mode or at least in DMZ+? 3. I also remember that my computers had issues with time sync (NTP) so I installed an app that took care of that (I need accurate time for amateur radio apps I use over the air). On Spectrum this was not a problem so I removed it (still have it available). Per what I am reading, this still seems to be an issue on at&t nets (port blocking). Is this still the case in San Diego 92008 area?

So, my line in Chicago has not been exactly stable these last few weeks, and I assume the pair on my line outside has developed some issues with the recent weather. It's been solid for months, and am just expecting the worst as it's DSL Currently, i'm sitting at 6.5dBm on the upstream attenuation (normally i'm 6.5-8 with a max attainable of 18-20Mbps), but these last few weeks it's dropped as low as 4.7dBm causing a ton of FEC/CEC on the line. I was wondering, if AT&T had a "trouble" line profile of say, 50/5 vs 50/10? I rebooted the modem earlier today, and it's been behaving fairly well but before I bother to have a tech come out and tell me i've gotta drop to 25/5 (which will be a deal breaker for me, as 50Mbps is the lowest i'll accept here), I just am curious if anyone knows of the other profiles available. The performance has been fine today, but during the cold snap we had to re-activate Comcast as this would just randomly stop responding to anything (which, could have been my DSLAM as well) [att=2]

I want to start going in the direction of ubiquiti but I would also like to know where and how to start, there isnt a lot of clear direction online. I currently am running 3 max stream routers to cover my house, and it does have great wifi, I am just looking for more control. I pay for gigabit through att and will continue to use that. My question is this, what do I need to just get up and running, I read so much about switches and cloud keys and all that, but I would like to just slowly build this out. so can I start with just access points or do I need switches to make those run, etc. I know I will not have the complete control until I get the whole network built out (within a year is a self imposed time frame I have put on myself) and I am okay with that as long as I get it as a end goal. I've managed to brick my BGW210. It still turns on, but doesn't finish booting. I've hooked a TTY up to the UART pins and it appears to go through most of the boot process until it gets to a kernel panic. Is there any built-in rescue mechanism that you know of? TFTP, USB rescue, etc. This is not my primary device, so i'm not out of service, but I'd prefer not to junk it if I can rescue it! Any help is appreciated. Thanks, -Wes

Contacting at&t tech support has been no use. I'm having issues with high latency to servers in Texas and the ping times are just unacceptable. I've done some trace route test and the ip addresses in the traceroutes that are causing high latency belong to AT&T.. But what's bizarre is this only happens at certain times.. later in the evening is when they start acting up. Not only that, but this bad routing issue affects download speeds to certain websites. Sure, I can run a speed test with AT&T's own speed test site and all is fine during this, but they need to actually dig deeper into it. It's not even a problem on my end after checking modem signals and everything on my own network.

Just had AT&T VDSL internet installed today, and looking for options on modem/router placement. The wall jack is on the opposite wall from where I'd like the modem to be, in order to tie it in with the router and switch. Would it be possible to run a cat5 ethernet cable between the two that would equal about 50 feet? The other option is to get a cat5 cable with the rj11 connectors, but since rj45 is easier to get, though I'd weigh that option first.

Just had Uverse installed, U300 TV and Internet 100. I'm suppose to get all the premium channels except just 3 months of HBO and Cinemax and then $26 thereafter. So the channels look fine, the on demand stuff looks fine for the premiums. But when I try to log into HBO Go, Showtime Anytime Max Go or Starz apps. on my iPad or on the browser, they all say I don't have those channels in my package. I called AT&T and they say they're currently having a problem with third parties and don't know when they will be back. They tell me to use the Uverse app to get that content. I can access the premium channels on the Uverse app. but a couple of problems. 1. I have an Apple TV and there's no Uverse app. for that so I can't log into HBO Go, etc. on it. Thing is, picture quality through the streaming apps. is better than either Uverse TV or Comcast (which I would be switching from). 2. I also access streaming through the browser and of course you can't stream Uverse content through the browser. 3. Uverse app. for iPad requires location services or knowing where the device is. When I travel overseas, I use VPN to access content. OK, if I can't log in to the premium channels streaming directly and if the Uverse app. checks the location (if it uses GPS say instead of relying only on IP) then I could use the service either. Is anyone else able to log into these premium channel apps. or streaming sites (through the browser) with Uverse logins currently? I'm in the South Bay Area (San Jose)

Up until recently there was information on the AT&T multi family property service page (https://www.att.com/att/multifamily-property/) about G.fast and now that's no longer there and on the speed tier page (http://att.net/speedtiers) there was a reference to a 500/200 IPBB tier that would only be possible on G.Fast and that's no longer listed, so did AT&T give up on G.Fast?

Has anyone tried Call Protect to stop spam calls with AT&T VoIP? We keep getting spam calls about our credit card being used.

I was making breakfast this morning and started hearing a loud clicking sound from the living room. I discovered it's coming from my Pace IPH8010 DVR. After rebooting the DVR I got a red X with an 8 under it (see pic). I think the hard drive crashed in it. I called AT&T support and their sending a tech instead of just sending me a new DVR. :uhh: Do you think the hard drive really crashed or it's something else? Is that what an 8 means? Thanks.

Wondering if there are any AT&T folks from this area that might know exactly what is being installed -- on S side of Lake Cook road (state highway) from Ela Road, east to Quentin Road -- as well as on Ela Road (from Lake Cook, south to Route 14). Trucks with reels and reels of orange fiber tubing. Vermeer machines for pulling/pushing the tubing underground on the highway right-of-way. I called the Township office. They claim to not know. I contacted IDOT (they control those roadway right-of-ways). They know but would not tell me. I know I can do a FOIA request to try and get information from the permit for this work that has been going on. I would have asked the guys working but the weather has been horrible and every time there has been an opportunity to pull off the road and ask, no guys at that particular spot. They have at least a dozen or more holes with orange pipe already buried, ends sticking up with snow fence encircling the exposed pipe. Has to be Comcast or AT&T as there are no other providers out here. As much as people don't like AT&T, I am hoping beyond hope that this fiber is replacing the 30-50 yr old copper wires (I'm on VDSL) and we will "soon" have fiber available. I am just wondering if anyone that posts here might know . . . . TIA

I have a USG 4 along with all of their switches and APs. I have had AT&T VDSL 100/20 for some time now and attempted to make the switch to Spectrum Gig a few months ago. Speeds were great, but reliability, downtime, packet loss crippled my wife's work, and we noticed tons of dropped connection alerts from our alarm system. So I disconnected cable and reconnected to AT&T and it's rock solid, damn near zero packet loss as I have been running nonstop ping to google from my iMac to monitor things. Anyway, I noticed something odd: T-Mobile WiFi Calling doesn't work on my setup with AT&T. I have the USG Pro 4 in DMZ+ on the AT&T modem, on a completely different IP range. T-Mobile WiFi Calling connects sometimes and then disconnects, or sometimes a call can be placed but is immediately dropped. It worked flawlessly on Spectrum. I imagine this is some sort of firewall issue on the Pace modem?

Ex-BS area (25-100Mbps) Buried copper Aerial power ATT has run aerial fiber that has cut through my residential neighborhood. It appears they followed Cox Cable's main distribution lines exactly. The immediate homes along this path all have an optisheath on the pole and fiber service available. No other homes beyond that immediate path can get fiber service. There's no orange tags/service tags, no locating flags, nothing else. Is the rest going to be trenched? There is a pedestal in the ROW beyond my backyard where they stopped running aerial fiber. Don't know if it is for me, but likely my neighbors. ATT left a lot of slack in a big spool on the ground labeled: C/O North splice. Does this mean that pedestal will be getting upgraded?
