So where I live they just pulled fiber within 4 poles (~500ft from where they stopped and thankfully have a splice canister) to the pole that feeds my and 7 neighbors, how can we get AT&T to extend the fiber a bit? They put a new cabinet in that the engineer I spoke with that said it was massive overkill and had tons of capacity. I talked to all the neighbors and they are willing to chip in to cover the cost of getting fiber pulled. Can anyone help me here?

The BGW is in the garage and the AirTies is in the kitchen connected to eth2 on the BGW. The AirTies configured itself and coverage is excellent. Session hand-over works when I use realtime apps like Skype etc. and walk from the coverage area of the garage to the AirTies. My problem is with devices that come out of sleep. Tablets, phones... They are connected to an AP but no data is able to get through. Looking at my phone's wifi stats I can see it has a 169. IPv4 address and not a 192. Toggling off/on wifi fixes that and assigns a new IP and data works. Just trying a release/renew does not work. Just now I disabled IPv6 on the BGW210 and I will test if that helps. Has anyone had this issue? My next step is to disable the 2.4Band.

Has anyone had any luck with IPv6 delegation? I have just gotten 32 IPv4 addresses and have not found IPv6 to be nearly as easy on ATT fiber. Using my mikrotik router board i can DHCPv6-client request and ip and delegated prefix, but once the LAN block is advertised it seems to work. As soon as i statically assign one of the LAN addresses, the home cannot utilize IPv6 connectivity. Anyone have any recommendations or luck using the delegation and statically assigning addresses?

I know most probably wont care, but I thought it couldn't hurt to share that I found out the mesh Wi-Fi solution AT&T has been planning to offer for months is finally available. I stumbled on the product page accidentally. https://www.att.com/accessories/specialty-items/att-smart-wifi-extender.html#sku=sku8150271 They sell it directly on the AT&T site for $35 as the "AT&T Smart Wi-Fi Extender", but its just a AirTies 4920 (3x3 5Ghz / 2x2 2.4 Ghz, two Ethernet ports) http://www.airties.com.tr/datasheets/Air4920_EN.pdf which a few other ISP's make use of as well (such as frontier). It's only compatible with the Pace 5268AC and BGW 210. I'm thinking about grabbing one, not because the coverage from my 210 is bad, but the $35 price seems a cheap fee to get a mesh network setup and have a really strong signal through the entire house. Probably even outback down by the pool since I can connect to my 210 there its just a bit flaky. So I'm thinking what the hell, and I'm curious to see how it works. If I order one I'll post info and my experience.

What do you all think of asking to make a separate AT&T Fiber forum? It gets annoying sometimes reading through a thread and then realize it’s a DSL-related issue. :uhh:

I signed up for service in October 2017 and then due to some issues I had with service my promotion renewed in March 2018 because support needed to create a new account for me. I have a while before I have to deal with this but I’m curious if anyone has been able to get new promotions on Fiber 1000 after their first year is done.

We have had Uverse 1 Gb service now for almost 2 years. Moved from Comcast to ATT and haven't looked back. We are located in Hendersonville, TN and have had no service outages with the exception of having the RG go bad after a very bad storm. The only modifications that I have done is turning off IPV6, getting static IP's and using a personal WIFI router for our home. I know I might be an anomaly but we have even had great customer service and a very quick turn around when the RG went bad (less than 24 hours to have it replaced). My only hope is that they don't get rid of the UVerse TV service and move everyone to Direct.

I've got AT&T for my "work" line, and am thinking of trying this. I currently have Comcast and last time i had AT&T it was 55/12 and worked fine.. The difference is i'm paying Comcast over $175 for gig with unlimited data (300Mbps was going to be $99 + $50 for unlimited data) This at&t plan I can do 50/10 with unlimited cell for $80/mo, then add $30 unlimited data, and we just do two streams of DirecTV Now and some casual web browsing.. so the DSL should be fine.. I'm on AT&T Fiber 1000 (formerly GigaPower) in the north Dallas area suburbs, using a Pace 5268AC as my residential gateway. For the most part the service is good; however I occasionally experience brief and intermittent connectivity issues. This mostly manifests as moment where requests will appear to stall with no response coming back for 7-10 seconds. If I catch this (e.g. in a browser) as it's happening and re-post the request, a response sometimes comes back right away. It's annoying, but mostly manageable. However, this is badly degrading my experience with PlayStation Network on my PS4. I have two PS4s, and the one which is not my primary console must stay connected to PSN at all times in order to verify my game licenses as I am playing. If it loses connectivity to PSN, it will pop up a notification on the screen saying "The application will be suspended in 15 minutes because the license cannot be verified." It never actually pulls the trigger on app suspension because connectivity is usually restored in a few seconds, but it's indicative of what's happening. Worse, there are some online games I can't play for longer than a few minutes without getting kicked out over loss of connectivity. Star Trek: Bridge Crew is literally unplayable due to this. Importantly, it's not a wireless issue because there is a hardwired Cat5E connection from both PS4s all the way to the Pace 5268AC. Can anybody help me diagnose and troubleshoot what the cause of the issue might be? Please let me know what information about my network topology it would be helpful for me to provide. Here's what I can think of right now. The Gigapower ONT is in my garage and the AT&T install tech ran a new Ethernet line to a new jack in my office room downstairs where the Pace gateway is sitting. The fiber line runs from a vault in front of my next door neighbor's house. I have an Asus AC1900P router hardwired to the Pace gateway, and set in DMZplus mode. As a result I am effectively using the Asus router as my gateway, DHCP server, etc., serving addresses in the 192.168.1.x range. I left the Wi-Fi enabled on the Pace device but gave clients their own subnet (192.168.2.x). From the Asus AC1900P router, I have two hardwired LAN cables running to my upstairs game room and the back bedroom. There is a PS4 in each of those two rooms. Upstairs, the cable is connected to an 8-port switch, and the PS4 is hardwired to the switch. In the bedroom, the cable is connected to an Asus AC68U router which is set in switch/access point mode. Both Asus routers are running a matching version of AsusWRT-Merlin firmware, but admittedly have not been updated in a while. The Asus AC1900P has UPnP enabled so forwarding ports to the PS4 manually should not be necessary (nor is it desirable since I have two PS4s). Both PS4s report "NAT Type 2" which from my reading means UPnP is working and they are connected correctly. Both PS4s have been set to use Google DNS and Automatic MTU. I tried manually setting an MTU of 1472 per some advice I found online but this did not help. If anyone needs screenshots or info about how my Pace gateway is configured, I can provide that later -- don't have access to it just now. I don't think I have tried connecting either PS4 directly to one of the LAN ports on the Pace to see what happens -- or if I have, it's been quite a while and I don't remember the result. Will probably try that next in hopes of gaining further information. Thanks in advance for any other advice you might offer!

Turned on the TV today around 9am CT to watch a recording of a 7am World Cup game. When i pulled up my list of recordings on my DVR the game was there but was listed as "No information avaliable". When i checked the Guide all programs say "Gathering Information". Did some quick online research and found that this is a common Uverse issue. I followed steps indicating i should unplug my Wireless gateway and then my uverse box (DVR) then after waiting a bit plug in the WG (wait for all lights to return) then plug in DVR box. I did this several times and still am seeing the same message. Any thoughts?

Hi, I'm planning to set up home networks for our main house and rental cottage in back. I've got ATT fiber 100mbps service and would like to split the service. Main concern is creating secure networks where someone on one network/subnet can't change the configuration of the other network/subnet. Alternatively I would make it so that only I can make changes to the routers, primarily through password protection, while also using VLANs to contain broadcast domains. In addition to the BGW210 I have two TP-Link TL-WR841N routers flashed with dd-wrt (sp2) and a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54. I was thinking of setting the 210 to IP Passthrough connected to the G54 which would be configured with two VLANs. Am I on the right track? I'm willing to upgrade to a new router for multiple subnet support if needed. Thanks for any advice

We are currently on an HBO promotion that comes with Cinemax (I believe). It is set to expire somewhat shortly and I am wondering if anyone has had luck getting promos on HBO. With Comcast, it ran us $10/month if I recall but we could probably just drop Netflix to make up the extra cost (we don't watch it much anyways). Thanks!

So, I have taken the plunge and replaced my PFSense firewall with a Ubiquity USG. This is an affordable device, around $110 on Amazon, and is the perfect companion to Ubiquiti Unifi wireless access points and its controller if you happen to use any. For the same reason as "rockstar" did with his PFSense thread, I decided to open up a separate topic for those searching for information, without having to go through the "True Bypass" monster thread. The most difficult portion is the trimming of the .json file somewhere halfway. I spent a good 20 minutes on it, and the examples that were given on the site above were of good help. Remember: when you start following the guide above, you will eventually disconnect from the internet, so make sure you have all the sites open you want open, and have all the files you need before proceeding. Make sure you read every step, don't skip any. PROS: Latency decrease. As if the gigapower itself wasn't good enough, a ping to 8.8.8.8 has changed from 3-4ms to a solid 2ms. If you are further away from bigger datacenters, the latency decrease can actually be noticeable. Speed: Speedtests are the same, really.... 930/930 to 940/940, the maximum you can push through gigabit. No change. DPI: This is with deep packet inspection enabled on the USG, so you can really keep check to see where your data is going. This is actually a cool feature, it shows you exactly how much hundreds of applications take in data, ranging from Facebook to P2P/Torrent to Netflix to OneDrive to Speedtest.net to Gmail to online games, you name it, and all displayed in a userfriendly and accessible way. CONS: No decent IPv6 support yet. Ubiquiti is working on it, and current firmware has "alpha" support for it, but it will be coming soon. If you need IPv6 NOW, don't use this.... if you can wait a few months till Ubiquiti really has their IPv6 ironed out, we may be able to get it to work in a similar fashion. It may actually work now, I just haven't gotten around to really testing it yet. NEUTRAL: I have static IP's. I have them mostly "just because", for the geekness of it, to run servers etc.... but the reality is I managed to consolidate all those back to the one DHCP IP for now (which never changes anyways), so I can take my sweet time figuring out how to get them to work. I'm sure its not that hard, just will take some digging.

Just canceled DTV today and wanted to see what UVTV had to offer since they only require a 1 year committment. While chatting with a UVTV rep, he stated that there is a $10 monthly charge per receiver outside of the DVR with a $49 one time fee per wireless receiver. I asked if there was a wired receiver option and he said yes, but that would be an additional $99 charge to have someone come out and install it. He said that was non-negotiable. I guess they don't want any more UVTV customers. Living in NW Indiana (Chicago Market) we have few low-cost options where I live. (Dish, DTV/UVTV, Comcast).

If I buy a block of static IPs, will I be able to bypass the internal RG's NAT with the Public Subnet option? EDIT: Also, what about the cascaded router option?

Having a new house built. Have U-verse fiber now but the new area only shows 10mb internet with DirecTV as the video source. There seems to be the same block of these pedestals set up per lot. The markings didn't designate fiber of any kind but I was hoping with a new development that either ATT or Comcast would be smart and plan for the future. The project manager for the neighborhood has no idea what is being laid down, unfortunately.
