When I cancelled phone, AT&T sent out a new DVR, an IPH8010 to replace my VIP2250 (I guess all as part of the switch from VDSL to Fiber). I have a few unwatched shows left on the VIP and wondered if they can be transferred. All of my scheduling can transfer and actually the few recordings are available VOD but I would like to skip the commercials (AMC stuff). I am assuming recordings can't be transferred but I figure I would ask. If not, I will binge watch and then swap the boxes.

Was issued new DVR, can I transfer recordings?

Canceling Uverse but keep sbcglobal.net email?
Hi - I saw some older threads about this - but want to confirm. My parents are moving to a retirement apartment that has Spectrum, so we are canceling ATT Uverse. We want them to have as little confusion as possible - so I'm hoping they can keep their sbcglobal.net email addresses and logins to manage through Yahoo Mail.
Any insights?
Thanks!

Internet 200?
I noticed this tier on AT&T's Speed Tiers page. Sounds like it's provisioned at 200x40. That sounds like it could theoretically be delivered over a very short bonded VDSL2 loop, but am I accurate in guessing that in reality that tier only shows up in G.Fast deployments? Has anyone seen that tier available over copper in the real world?

Help with Client's U-Verse Gateway Statistics
Hello, everyone:
I have a new client who wants me to troubleshoot their newly-installed U-Verse installation. They have U-Verse Voice (Unlimited) and U-Verse Internet (6.0 Mbps). In looking at their gateway, I see their maximum possible rate being 5100 kbps (down) and the gateway syncing at 4716 kbps (down), not 6.0 Mbps. Since I am not well-versed in the broadband statistics that AT&T's gateways put out, I thought I would post the gateway statistics here and see what others thought about them. I am curious to know how the SN Margin, Line Attenuation, Output Power, etc. will affect their Internet service. Specifically, what should they expect to get and are these good statistics, for the real-world download rate of 4.x Mbps? In other words, is this a healthy line? Here are their statistics, right after a complete gateway power-cycling/cold-boot:
Line State: Up
Downstream Sync Rate (kbps): 4716
Upstream Sync Rate (kbps): 766
Downstream Max Attainable Rate (kbps): 5100
Upstream Max Attainable Rate (kbps): 1175
Modulation: ADSL2
Data Path: Interleaved
SN Margin (dB) (Downstream/Upstream): 6.1/16.4
Line Attenuation (dB) (Downstream/Upstream): 37.0/21.4
Output Power(dBm) (Downstream/Upstream): 19.0/12.0
Errored Seconds (Downstream/Upstream): 0/0
Loss of Signal (Downstream/Upstream): 0/0
Loss of Frame (Downstream/Upstream): 0/0
FEC Errors (Downstream/Upstream): 0/0
CRC Errors (Downstream/Upstream): 0/0
All insight is greatly appreciated; thank you!

UVerse internet dropped last night won't reconnect
About 4 hours ago my dsl dropped. It's the ADSL2+ variant. Ever since I cannot reconnect. I have an NVG510 modem. The broadband light is solid green indicating a connection to the dslam but the service light is red. It won't let me through. Numerous reboots have failed to fix. I've changed nothing in settings. What would cause this?
I called att and they said they don't see any outages in my area. Looking at the modem log, the line stats are good. It just keeps repeating "supplicant event failure" and "no wan IP address detected". Oh and "EAP-TLS unable to form alert packet, status = -7573.
I need my internet today and they said a tech can't be out until Sat.

Upgrading from 45 to 75 Mbps
Has anyone else noticed the price is the same on AT&T's website for 45 Mbps vs 75 Mbps?
If the website says that I qualify for 75 Mbps, does that automatically mean that it's correct? In the past, I've been denied for 75 Mbps service. So, I'm wondering what would happen if I actually submitted my upgrade to 75 Mbps?
Anyone else go through this scenario?

[AT&T Fiber] "New" AT&T Fiber Install
I recently had the service re-installed because my previous 2 year promotions expired. That install was complete shit.
This install I was given the RG model; BGW210. I was also given the DVR model; IPH8010, also a wireless STB model; ISB7105. The WAP model; VAP 2500. I’ve never seen that particular wireless stb, at first I thought it was a new model but it has a manufacture date from 2014.
The tech began by checking out the 240 ONT outside, and he mentioned it was no good and he needed to run fiber into the home. I thought great no more ugly ONT install. It took him about 2 hours to run the fiber through the attic and set everything up. I peeked at his iPad which showed the light levels and they were -15 at the central office and -17 at ONT. The distance from the CO is about 5.9km/3.7miles.
After he was done I offered him a cold refreshment which he gladly accepted, the attic temps are crazy.
I decided to bundle U300 and internet 100. The price for both is $120 and it’s around $148 with taxes. A few days ago a “new” speed tier (300) was released so I changed to it, so it’s gonna be $158 now
U300; $60+ $10 STB
Internet 100; $50 ( Changed to Internet 300; $60)
I also received $350 in rewards cards.

Script to check ATT Fiber coverage
I got the inspiration from the Century Link forum for mapping availability of ATT Fiber in a particular area.
The idea is to grab a box on google maps using two addresses (NE and SW) then get a list of addresses and pass that on to the ATT Fiber availability webpage. Well I spent a day learning Python and another porting the code to AT&T and here is result
https://www.easymapmaker.com/map/13bc08adc1c47818afd6437933d7ce4d
Please see my github page here for the scripts
https://github.com/enkur/ATT-Fiber-Check
Next task would be to do something like this
https://github.com/mtdoyle/CLSpeedPhantomJS/blob/master/README.md
This can cull through large addresses and create a super detailed plots like this

What would cause the service light on the NVG510 to go red?
As of about 24 hours ago my ADSL2+ U-Verse internet is no longer working. Broadband light goes solid green (sync success with DSLAM), but once it gets to the service light it just goes a solid red. Modem log shows "Supplicant event = failure" and "no WAN ip address detected".
I tried calling in and they're offering to send me a new modem saying it could be defective.. Is this even possible? I thought the service light had to do with authentication and it was all on ATT's end. The DSL sync is perfect. All my line stats are great. I did try a factory reset / power cycling / etc. Nothing fixes it. Would an issue with the account itself cause this? I figured they would have told me on the phone if that was the case.
Another question - do they even still send out NVG510s or is my modem old? I just feel like a modem isn't going to fix this. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Also the modem hasn't even shipped yet, yet they claim it'll arrive tomorrow .. ship and arrive same day. That doesn't seem likely.
EDIT: 4AM EDT. The modem just got a firmware update. How did it do this with no service / no WAN address?

[AT&T Fiber] Who is AT&T now using for their credit checks?
Fiber just went active in my neighborhood, but before I can order I have to unfreeze my credit report. I know up until 2009 AT&T used Experian for their credit checks, but that could have changed over the last 9 years. Anybody have any idea who they are using now?

[AT&T Fiber] New install frustrations, dealing with AT&T clowns.
After paying Xfinity high monthly charges for a year I decided to switch to AT&T TV/internet when I learned fiber was now in my hood. I chose the U200 with 50Mbps internet.
The install went without a hitch until the tech told me there was a bad pair outside and I would only get 25Mbps until another tech could fix it later that day. (The fiber is not all the way to my block yet)
I followed up with a chat session with an AT&T rep online the next day and found out this was all a lie.
First of all someone changed my account settings from 50Mbps to 25Mbps and then I learned that I must schedule ANOTHER tech out next weekend (I must be at home) in order to get the original 50Mbps.
I was told a different modem/router was needed to be installed in order to get the faster speeds. (probably another lie)
So far not impressed with AT&T Fiber/Uverse.
Xfinity might have cost more but the service was much better. I guess you get what you pay for.

IP Passthrough/pfsense...BGW210, firewall....
I've successfully integrated my pfsense box with uverse at my home, using IP Passthrough. Hurray!
Should I go ahead and turn off all of the firewall features/functions/protections/etc. on my BGW210 so that my pfsense box is doing all of that? Or does IP Passthrough mode actually already do that?
I've seen conflicting information on that answer so far, where I've seen one ATT Tech post in the ATT forums that IP Passthrough mode effectively "disables" all firewall features/functions/protections...and another tech say that if you put your gateway in IP Passthrough mode, you need to go ahead and disable all of the firewall features/functions/protections so that you're third-party router/firewall operates normally.
Any ideas?

New UVerse Modem ADSL2+
So my internet was repaired yesterday by a tech, who gave me this new Pace 5268AC modem. It's enormous compared to the NVG510 it replaced. Looks capable of supporting VDSL2 and ADSL2+, and can do pair bonding. Anyone have this modem? Is it pretty good? I've looked through the web UI and it seems to have a ton more features.
Downside, I seem to actually be getting errors on my line when I didn't with the NVG510. Strange. Line attenuation, SN Margin, speeds, etc all look good.
On a seperate note, anyone know if they do pair bonding on ADSL2+? If so would this modem support it?

UVerse wiring
Setting up a network with a AT&T DSL Network and notice odd/ cut wiring. Is this a normal install or are these failed connections I should have someone out to repair? I'm helping out a friend and used to my Cable internet via Coax at home vs their DSL set up. And yes, I've tried to get them over to Cable Internet but they're reluctant to make changes.
They were having trouble with wi-fi especially in remote corners of the house so I disabled the routers wi-fi and connected it via ethernet to a mesh wi-fi network but know the most important connection is the one to the modem because if they're slowing the connection nothing will improve speed.
Thanks.

Upcoming FTTP and U-Verse TV (IPTV) install
Hello all. I have an install scheduled this week. My question is in regards to expectations for the install. I ordered the 1000/1000 internet and UVerse 300 bundle that will be connected to 2 TVs. My office is on the 2nd floor (where the modem will be) along with one of the TVs and the other TV is on the first floor. My question has to do with how much cabling can I expect the install tech to do? I'm not expecting them to fish cabling through walls but the room locations are on opposite areas of the house so I'm manage my expectations and the possibility of having to reevaluate my requested install locations.

AT&T Gigapower rollout in the CA Bay Area
Hi all,
A friend of mine just had Gigapower installed at his residence in San Jose. During the installation appointment, the techs mentioned that AT&T's goal is to roll out Gigapower within the entire Bay Area by the end of 2017. Wondering how true that is?
I live in a subdivision that was built in 2002 and right across from me is a brand new subdivision which is gigapower wired and yet mine is not :( Hoping they'd fix that soon as I would like some sweet gigabit juice as opposed to being stuck with Comcast :\
Thanks!

[AT&T Fiber] "Business Fiber 100" vs "Business Fiber 100s"
AT&T "Business Fiber" recently became available at one of my clients' locations. I have an option for Business Fiber 100 for $100/month or Business Fiber 100s (Symmetrical) for $300/month. I know what the speeds are on the symmetrical service ;) but the AT&T website doesn't mention at all what the upload speed is for Business Fiber 100. Does anyone here have the 100 service? If so, what's the upload speed??
