Hi all, A friend of mine just had Gigapower installed at his residence in San Jose. During the installation appointment, the techs mentioned that AT&T's goal is to roll out Gigapower within the entire Bay Area by the end of 2017. Wondering how true that is? I live in a subdivision that was built in 2002 and right across from me is a brand new subdivision which is gigapower wired and yet mine is not :( Hoping they'd fix that soon as I would like some sweet gigabit juice as opposed to being stuck with Comcast :\ Thanks!

Both wired and wireless internet has gone down today. Restarting the gateway reconnects. Service and broadband lights both green Asus router lights are all up. To troubleshoot should I swap Ethernet ports on the Asus for the connection to the gateway? Bypass the Asus all together and see what happens? Strange thing is when I run a speed test for the gateway using the att smart home network I get 17 down and 4 up. Speedtest.net gives me 27 up and 6 down.

So AT&T fiber is finally available to me, and now that it is looking like their fiber contractor will repair the damage to the neighborhood sprinklers that was done during the install[1], I am warming to the idea of getting it. My neighbor who got it told me they drilled through a wall near a power outlet and mounted the NID on the outside of the hole, and the ONT and RG on the inside of the hole. It ended up in their kitchen somewhere. I, having my network gear all in one place, and the house wired with Cat5e, do not want to do that. I want to replace the telephone NID (if you call it that) with the fiber one, pull fiber (or reuse the Cat5e) through the house to the networking closet, mount the ONT and RG in one or both of those places, and connect the RG to to my router in the network closet (I'll forego discussion of the bypass here). The fiber entry point is at the opposite end of the house from the network closet, so the fiber would have to be pulled 75-100' up two floors and through the attic. I am willing to do this work. In general, I am wondering how flexible the AT&T techs are with installation. I see a few options: 1. Install the NID where my telephone NID is. To incur the least labor for me, I'd mount a weatherproof (IP67/NEMA 4X) box outside near the NID, run power to it and have the tech install the ONT in it. Then I'd use the existing Cat5E to get back to the RG in the network closet. 1a. Same as (1) but put the ONT inside. This is not an enticing option for me, as the tech would have to drill through the wall, and hang the ONT on a living-room wall. 2. Install the NID where my telephone NID is. Use the existing Cat5E as a pulling aid to pull the fiber back to the networking closet, where the ONT and RG would be located. a. Could I do this fiber pulling myself, before the tech arrived? Are the fiber type and connector types known? Would the AT&T tech do the installation with customer-installed interior fiber? b. If (a) is not possible, will the AT&T tech let me pull their fiber, or assist in same? I am willing to do the attic climbing. Any comments on experience with doing something similar, or input from AT&T techs, etc. are welcome. Thanks in advance. Any help will be much appreciated. Note not all LAN connections are dead but I would say about 5 out of the 12 connections are no longer doing its thing. any help would be much appreciated to fix this. Maybe the Uverse modem is finally crapping out after 4 years of service. My Uverse connection was running slow, so pulled the power to the 3801HGV and plugged it back in to "reboot" the modem. Wifi speeds went back up from 8mb to 35mb. But I lose ethernet connection to a number of pcs and mac mini saved one pc. I tried to the following: I notice the IP addresses were returning 169.x.x.x I tried ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew but that didn't seem to work. I also tried using the Windows 10 network repair but that also didn't work. Used to pay for RG rental fee on my 24/5 plan. Now my 50/50 plan does not have the fee. Is the fee supposed to be waived for all fiber customers?

Hello, Just thought I'd share this experience. I live in a new neighborhood that began construction in October 2016. I signed my contract to buy and construct a home in April 2017. I closed in October 2017. For whatever reason, AT&T had not run their plant inside the neighborhood when the other utilities did. However, they ran lines in the neighborhood in April 2017. The PFP had already been installed and had identifying information on it before I even looked at this neighborhood. Nobody in this neighborhood could order service after a year of waiting so naturally I began asking questions and nobody could provide answers. It wasn't a matter of address - the system and AT&T could find my address and everyone else's just fine. So, I filed an FCC complaint for denial of service availability and within 24 hours, orders were activated for my neighborhood. Just thought it was curious.

When the fiber service was first installed back in February 2017 the Pace 5268ac RG was reachable at 192.168.1.254 but no longer. I have Internet access just fine on my home LAN and I can ping the IP address just fine from my PC that goes through a TP-link router and then a Netgear switch before reaching the RG. Whenever I try to bring up the web interface whatever browser I am using just reports 'waiting on response from 192.168.1.254". I considered that maybe somewhere along the way maybe AT&T upgraded the firmware and changed the IP address. Thoughts?

I've noticed that higher speeds like Internet 25 are available again in IP-DSL only areas in my area (Central Alabama). These remotes only hold Q cards last I checked so it's not VDSL2. Has AT&T rolled out Bonded ADSL2+ again?

I am a long time Comcast subscriber. I am cutting the cord and Comcast is doing their darndest to stop me. All I need is internet service and AT&T Fiber is offering a nice deal here in Nashville. Of course, during my talk with Comcast they did not speak highly of AT&T internet service. I want to know from people who do use it. How long for install from the time of order? Is it reliable? Are their Gotchas with their promotions? Anything I should look out for?

Hey folks, Here's my situation: I live on a special block where the utility poles are in the backyard. Nearly every street around us already has had AT&T Fiber lit up in 2018. Sonic Fiber also came through our neighborhood in 2017 but they couldn't install on our block because of the backyard utility poles issue. Sonic is a small ISP so they might not have had the capability to install on our block. I'm hoping that AT&T could. I happen to have a photo taken in late 2016 and a photo taken today (2018). I noticed something different right away. In 2016, there was a big rope loop. Today, it looks like the rope loop was replaced by some kind of tube. Does this look like AT&T Fiber to you guys?

I was told I could upgrade my speed to 25/5 but after doing so I am getting 25/2. I did the upgrade because I really needed a faster upload speed for cameras and PC. I am on a bonded pair with a new drop from road to house. A new box on the house. A new line from the box to a new modem and I am on an N-Card. With all that being done the tech said my last hope of getting the 5 up I am paying for is if I was switched from 8 MHz to 17 MHz but I am red lighted because my distance is to far (4600). He gave me his supervisors number to see if he could do anything but before I go down that path I wanted to see if it is even worth trying. Could switching to 17 MHz help me at that distance?

We've been noticing a large increase in the amount of pixelation we see on both of our televisions in the last couple days. I did a couple of network speed tests and they have come out fine, about 48 down and about 10 up, our service is supposed to be 50/10. What could be causing the pixelation and not affecting network speeds? One television is wireless, the other is wired.

I live in an AT&T service area with underground copper wires from the early 1970s (no fiber to the premises). The distance the wires travel from the VRAD cabinet to my house is about 4,200 feet. AT&T U-verse TV was not available to me; 10 Mbps internet was the maximum available. I can now order U-verse TV and 25 Mbps internet. I'm surprised that U-verse TV is now available to my home. AT&T hasn't done anything to the infrastructure in my area, and I have not seen any work done at the cabinet. So how is U-verse TV and higher internet speeds now available to me? Years ago I asked an AT&T splicing technician about the future availability of U-verse TV on my street. He mentioned that "heating up" the cabinet would make U-verse TV possible for those of us farther away from the cabinet. This IPTV service is intriguing. I'm concerned, though, about the distance from the cabinet and the quality of the copper wires. My house is almost a mile away from the cabinet and the wires are not in great shape. During the past five years, AT&T has repaired my line every year to fix voice line noise problems (POTS) or internet connectivity issues (ADSL). This year so far, the line was fixed twice. Is quality TV service possible over this long distance on deteriorating copper wires?

I have gigabit (Fiber) internet speeds and also have Uverse TV and Phone......I have the Pace 5268AC RG and my TV receivers are hardwired via coax. I have a fairly large home ( 2500 square feet) and I own a couple of mesh wifi systems. I would love to be able to set up an access point downstairs using an ethernet backhaul to get better speeds but I don't have cat5 run throughout my home. I want to know if I could buy and use the actiontec 2.0 MoCA adapters? would that cause any instability with my IPTV and phone service? I know Uverse supports HPNA but I can't find any HPNA adapters that support gig speeds .....Has anyone else connected and used the MoCA adapters with Uverse with success? any input greatly appreciated! I got a letter from AT&T, I am the primary account holder, saying I have been caught downloading copyrighted material for the fourth time. It states I have to go to their website and complete and educational tutorial by a set date or my internet service will be limited until it is completed. Has anyone else received one of these notices? Do they drop off the account after a set amount of time? Will they actually limit my service or terminate my service?

I may be ordering ATT Fiber service. However I need to know what taxes and fees are added on each monthly bill. My current provider does not charge taxes and fees on just having internet service. My residence is in St. Louis MO, and looking at getting the Gig service.

Long story short, my Digital Life Alarm malfunctioned again this evening and said there was an Intrusion Alarm when there wasn't. This isn't the first time, and will now be the last time, disconnected it. The AT&T Digital Life folks blame it on a "Broadband Issue", and transferred me to "Internet Support". It isn't a broadband issue, they are making excuses as they usually do. When I was connected to Support, the automated voice said it was running a test, it found a problem, and a truck would be rolled in the morning to repair an issue they found with my connection. I looked at the RG and shows no errors, I ran a speed test and it is 80 down/19 up, but the latency is 32 ms, which to me is a bit high. I looked on my account, it shows the appointment, but I can't find out what the issue is, or what needs to be repaired. How do I find out? If I call in the automated voice tells me a technician will be out in the morning, gives me the ticket number again and hangs up.
