dslreports.com speedtest vs fast.com

I'm currently getting 65mb/s down from dslreports.com speedtest, but only 4mb/s down from fast.com. Regular browsing to sites like imgur is noticeably slow, like the fast.com results are the accurate results. I feel like dslreports.com is duping me. My service plan is currently 75/20. Anyone have any similar experiences?

Fiber - Upload faster than download?

I recently had ATT Fiber installed with the 1000/1000 package. Testing hardwired into the 5268AC gateway, I typically hit ~800 Mb/s down and 940 Mb/s up testing against ATT's speedtest and speedtest.net against servers in my city. I've tried multiple computers, tried moving the gateway directly to the ONT to eliminate any cabling issues, different patch cables, etc. Is it just luck of the draw that I"m maxing out on upload but not download, or are there configuration tweaks I should consider? FWIW - It feels funny to question why my 800Mb+ connection isn't fast enough...

Looking to move (back) to ATT

5+ years back, I was on ATT DSL. Their top speed was 6M. So I moved to TWC for internet and DISH for TV. For the longest time, ATT only offered DIRECT and 50M internet. All of a sudden in the last week, they are now offering a choice of UVERSE-TV or DIRECT. The top internet speed is now 100M. I am thinking of going back. A) Is the internet still DSL technology or did that change? B) Do you still need filters on all the phones? C) I am in an older neighborhood. Do they replace the lines to the house? D) Do you still have access to the modem for stats/tweaking? E) Does the ATT modem have power backup or do I have to supply my own? F) Anything I should be aware of when ordering? ie: Modem A vs Modem B, or set top A vs Set Top B, etc. G) I go way back to prodigy.net/COVAD days. My original email address is still in use as my YAHOO acct. The house has wired back to the COVAD days, and outside box still has COVAD filters. H) How is the home alarm compatibility with the new phone technology that comes with the package? Or do I have to contact the alarm company. I) Can ATT reuse some of the DISH coax in place? J) If new lines need to be run, will ATT run them inside, in the same place DISH went, or do they go outside? Sorry for all the ?'s but I just want to make this cutover as smooth as possible!

UVerse and VLANs

Until AT&T fires up the fiber trucks in my housing edition I'm stuck with spectrum as my internet along with Uverse tv only. Unfortunately my landlord said no to any additional wiring, so I'm stuck with a single cat 5E from the living room to my office. There is no coax run either. I have tplink managed switches at each end and have successfully isolated them on vlans. However the STB on the far end will error out every 5 minutes or so. It would automatically pickup once the link fixes itself. I do see 1 Rx error every 5-10s on each switch on the trunk port (1). I've gotten the video working now by disabling IGMP snooping on the switches, but still seeing the RX packet errors on the trunk port (1) only. There are no TX errors of any kind. Am I trying to make something work out of design? If I turn off the vlans, I have no video errors but if course now I have 2 networks killing each other.

Anyone have G.Fast service?

Hi, Does anyone happen to have the G.Fast based 500/100 or 200/40 tier? I'm curious what RG device is used for this service and how it performs. Is the first hop latency any better compared to VDSL2? Thanks!

So, Im currenly on fiber, the 100mbps for $60. I noticed when I checked today that the 100mbps has dropped to $50 a month with the 1GBit being $70. Im currently within my contract period but is there a way I can get them to drop my current plan down to $50 or can I get them to give me the 1Gbit for $10 more ? I don't have a problem renewing my contract term for either option. Any ideas???

Native IPv6 Houston + weird new device?

My 5268AC just rebooted. Looks like I have gone from 10.5.3.527171 to 10.5.6.529489, and from 6rd to native dual stack IPv6. What's really odd is that I now have a new device "connecting" to the network, named "5268ac" with the exact same MAC address as the 5 GHz Wi-Fi radio. It has the IP 192.168.1.78 and two ports open: 80 and 5555. WTF is it?

PACE 5286AC resetting when using VPN

I have had intermittent issues with my PACE 5286AC since my install this past Saturday. The issue is a complete reset of the RG. The Service light goes red and I lose all services; phone, TV, and Internet. After about a minute everything comes back up and works. I think I know what is triggering it. I use Private Internet Access VPN. Every time the RG has had the issue, I was connected to PIA VPN. Again, all services go out and the Service light goes red. I'm pretty certain the issue is within the 5286 and since everything relies on the network being up, we lose everything for a short time. Has anyone seen this behavior? Any suggestions? Should I look toward replacing the 5286 with another RG and how should I contact AT&T to get the optimal resolution to my case?

Question about MTU with native ipv6

Edit: After doing some more resarch I think this is normal. If I understand correctly with ipv6 the MTU adjusts automatically using "Path MTU Discovery". Which I'm assuming is why it changed back by its self when I tried to force it to 1500. So I guess its working as it should since like I said I have no ipv6 issues at all. I would just delete this thread but unless I'm missing it I don't see a way to. Still wouldn't mind getting info from someone that knows how it works lol. Hey guys. I just noticed that the MTU setting on my PC for ipv6 is 1472, and 1500 for ipv4. Is this ok/normal? I remember ipv6rd using 1472, but I've had dual stack native ipv6 for well over a month now. I don't have or notice any issues. IPV6 works perfectly fine I just don't know if this is normal or not or if it even matters. I did try changing it to 1500 using this command in the command prompt netsh interface ipv6 set subinterface "Ethernet" mtu=1500 store=persistent And it did change to 1500, but a few mins later when I checked it again it was back to 1472. Just curious what you guys think.

AT&T Direct-TV, UVERSE or Cable One?

My sister is moving to Anniston Alabama. She has three choices of internet/TV. 1. DirectTV with dish on the roof, "coax" internet. 24 month contract required. 2. U-VERSE at 50Mbps (for real?), with TV, possibly without contract at higher cost. 3. Cable One (highest priced plan) DirectTV is cheapest but the Dish will look really ugly on the front of the roof facing South. Also, this is a pretty rainy area so I'm worried about reception, especially with that 24 month contract. I hate for her to be stuck with bad service for two years. So UVERSE sounds good good but my daughter down the block can only get 4.5Mbps from AT&T DSL. It's hard to believe they really get 50Mbps. My neighbor has U-VERSE (I have WOW) and he says it's great, but that's here in Chicagoland. Alabama might be different. I don't know anything about Cable One. My sister is 75 and not interested in streaming at all, although my daughter says my grandson can set it up for her. All three come with phone, but I'm thinking a flip phone cell phone beats the pants off internet phone. That's what I switched to a few years back when WOW insisted I had to rent an ancient TM402 modem to get phone. I'm especially interested in remarks from forum members in Calhoun County.

AT&T Uverse Internet options no longer available on website

I'm in a rural area and AT&T is the only internet service we can get besides the local WISP. I'm currently on the 45mbps plan and was looking to downgrade to 24mbps due to cost but no longer see Uverse options on the website. The only option I see is 10mbps "Fixed Wireless" from AT&T with a cap of 160GB. Are they switching over rural customers to wireless?

PS4 SharePlay broken on AT&T

In a failed attempt to diagnose the issue with outbound PS4 SharePlay no longer working for AT&T customers (see https://forums.att.com/t5/AT-T-Fiber-Equipment/PS4-Share-does-not-work-on-At-amp-t-internet-services/td-p/5302459), I factory reset my gateway. This somehow triggered a firmware push to 10.5.6.529489-att that finally enabled IPv6 dual stack for me in Michigan. Nice side effect...but no dice on the PS4 issue. Multiple phone calls have resulted in no way to escalate, multiple tweets have gone ignored, multiple forum posts get no response. I have a 5268 gateway and need to get better WiFi coverage in my home. Would I be better off getting an airport express or a netgear 6700? I dont need all the features of the netgear. Just better WiFi coverage. Windows PC, 1 story house with a finished basement. Gateway is on the main floor of the home.

Cross talk on landline phone

I thought AT&T had finally solved all my previous problems with my U verse services, I have TV, internet & landline phone. For a couple of months everything seemed to be working OK, no problems. Four days ago I noticed that I could faintly hear another conversation in the background. Over the last 4 days I have heard cross talk (?) on 4 incoming calls, all from cell phone callers, all different callers, all different carriers. I am the only one that hears the other faint conversation & is not on just one of my phones. It is not on every conversation, very randomly. Any suggestions? I have not called AT&T yet on this new problem. I have not changed anything inside, using same phones, base station w/3 other non wired phones. Thanks

BGW210-700 1.3.12 blocks all incoming IPv6 traffic as DoS

Business U-Verse subscriber, running a build cluster and the artefacts are served over IPv6. Also have SSH (on non-22 port) for access to systems from my phone when I'm out. Ever since the 1.3.12 update, turning off reflexive ACL has no effect; attempts to connect to SSH or HTTPS or even ping/traceroute any IPv6 address on the network times out. I know this isn't a 6rd routing issue because the traffic is logged in the modem's firmware as "Other DoS attack". Static IPv4 doesn't seem affected, but the NAT IPv4 address is blocking incoming traffic as well. They only offer 5 or 8 usable static IPs out of a /29 or /28, and won't offer any more. We have more than 20 build boxes, hence the need for IPv6. (Sure, I *could* try to use a SOCKS proxy over the static v4s to connect to the internal network, but that's so much flakier and unclean compared to direct access.) I really wish there was a way to downgrade to 1.3.10, or at least put this stupid thing in bridge mode and just put OpenBSD/pf in front of it so I could route and firewall myself. So frustrated. The service has been so much more reliable (and so much less latency, 15 ms vs 60+ ms) than Cox cable, but it's completely unusable for our purposes without inbound IPv6. :(

CAP and Directv VOD

I am considering dropping Charter and get AT&T 50 Mbps internet on a bundled promotion which states a 1 TB cap. If I download DirecTV VOD, will it count against my cap. There are no exceptions mentioned in the TOS and that could be a deal breaker.
