AT&T Streaming Buffering Result of Internet Quality ???

$

I pay 40 a month for ATT 50MBPS , I get 60ish, which sounds great. However I think bufferbloat, latency etc is causing me issues I frequently have buffering issues when streaming videos, for example episodes on ATT Comcast has $34.99 for 60MBPS, I think $29.99 after EcoBill. I am thinking of switching, I have a few days left before my 30 days end and I get hit with an ETF.

dslreports.com speedtest vs fast.com

I'm currently getting 65mb/s down from dslreports.com speedtest, but only 4mb/s down from fast.com. Regular browsing to sites like imgur is noticeably slow, like the fast.com results are the accurate results. I feel like dslreports.com is duping me. My service plan is currently 75/20. Anyone have any similar experiences? EDIT: I should add that fast.com is Netflix, not just a random speedtest. I'm concerned that traffic is being throttled to high bandwidth sites like IMGUR and Netflix but traffic to Speed tests are prioritized to avoid blame.

Seeing increasingly severe congestion over AT&T Fiber 1000, appears to be related to peering.

Replacing att modem

So my modem got fried on a bad outlet and I hooked up an identical spare att modem and got the red flashing broadband indicator. I called att and they said they do not support 3rd party router or apparently even there own. To digress my question is; is there a legitimate networking reason why I’m required to use the modem they send or is it a ploy to make money buying or leaseing their equipment? I’ve never had a company lock there connection to a specific modem.

Pace 5268 Native IPv6 for router behind it in DMZplus

So, I got the Pace 5268 on Sunday, and was frustrated to realize that I could not get IPv6 to work on my personal router (Netgear r7000 running AdvancedTomato firmware) as I had been able to when I had the NVG589 and NVG599 with my router in IP passthrough on those modems. I decided I was not going to rest until I figured it out, and so here is the solution I found. Since I assume everyone will have a different IPv6 address, I omitted my personal IP and instead showed where you can find your specific IP addresses and prefixes in the 5268 configuration pages. I am attaching screenshots that I have annotated with instructions.

Help Please. Latest Tomato firmware update for my Netgear R7000 broke ipv6

I have the Pace 5268 for my modem, and the R7000 with AdvancedTomato (fork of shibby tomato with a bootstrap UI) as my router. I have DMZplus working and it was all correctly configured until I updated AdvancedTomato today and the "Native IPv6" option is gone. In its place is a "Static IPv6 option". Does anyone have any idea how I could get this working? I originally had it working, using this method I posted https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31690905-Pace-5268-Native-IPv6-for-router-behind-it-in-DMZplus but now as noted above the options in AdvancedTomato have changed so I am not sure what to do. The 5268 has not changed so I just need to be pointed in the right direction to know what I should put in for the settings on the r7000.

Entire apartment complex wired with AT&T Fiber - how long until available?

$

About 1.5 months ago contractors finished wiring my entire apartment complex with fiber, all the way down to running a fiber drop to a room in each apartment (mine is in the guest bedroom). The contractor said it's for AT&T Fiber. I've been checking the web site for availability, as we want to jump off Charter, but it still remains unavailable according to the site after 1.5 months. Does anyone have any experience with this, and how long of a delay is expected between fiber being deployed and it actually being available?

Does anyone know what this new box (AT&T) is?

Some utility--I think AT&T (but maybe Comcast?) installed a new box a mile from my house in Wahstenaw County, MI, next to an existing AT&T telephone box. Does this mean they're installing fiber? Related question: Right now, AT&T offers maximum 25mbs internet service to my home (so I go with Xfinity instead)--and in actuality when I had Uverse a few years ago it was worse than that. I don't think AT&T is doing fiber to the home (residence). How big an improvement would it be if they brought fiber to within a mile or less?

I'm thinking about signing up for the Gigabit service. It's listed at my address for $80 a month plus taxes & Add'l fees with a 12 month agreement. Anyone here just have the Gigabit service could tell me what your monthly bill looks like. I'm in Florida, Homestead area.

Script to check ATT Fiber coverage

I got the inspiration from the Century Link forum for mapping availability of ATT Fiber in a particular area. The idea is to grab a box on google maps using two addresses (NE and SW) then get a list of addresses and pass that on to the ATT Fiber availability webpage. Well I spent a day learning Python and another porting the code to AT&T and here is result https://www.easymapmaker.com/map/13bc08adc1c47818afd6437933d7ce4d Please see my github page here for the scripts https://github.com/enkur/ATT-Fiber-Check Next task would be to do something like this https://github.com/mtdoyle/CLSpeedPhantomJS/blob/master/README.md This can cull through large addresses and create a super detailed plots like this https://www.easymapmaker.com/map/cl_speed_1-15-2015

Business U-verse Prices

Are these prices legit or is this along the lines of how some online retailers price stuff really high so people won't order the item when it is out of stock? If this is real then this is scary expensive for basically a residential service with port 80 and 25 turned on.

Cross talk on landline phone

I thought AT&T had finally solved all my previous problems with my U verse services, I have TV, internet & landline phone. For a couple of months everything seemed to be working OK, no problems. Four days ago I noticed that I could faintly hear another conversation in the background. Over the last 4 days I have heard cross talk (?) on 4 incoming calls, all from cell phone callers, all different callers, all different carriers. I am the only one that hears the other faint conversation & is not on just one of my phones. It is not on every conversation, very randomly. Any suggestions? I have not called AT&T yet on this new problem. I have not changed anything inside, using same phones, base station w/3 other non wired phones. Thanks

AT&T Gigapower Neighborhood Install

We are currently having conduit and fiber optics run in the neighborhood. I am located outside of Huntsville, AL in the county. Since they are running conduit and fiber lines simultaneously is there a good chance we won't have to wait months for service? There are 4 neighborhoods that adjoin together and one part of the newer neighborhood has the service already. The installers said they will come by maybe a week after to splice everything together. I was told they had to run 32K' of conduit and fiber by Dec 1. They have probably been here 2.5 weeks and they are almost finished.

Anyone with Pop3 Problems?

Is anyone else having Pop3 issues? I've changed nothing but today I get server errors on my phone, tablet, and PC. The tablet was using IMAP, but the phone and tablet are using Pop3. They've been working for ages using inbound.att.net but for grins I tried the pop.att.yahoo.com and it fails on all also. I can get the mail via webmail though. EDIT: Nevermind, it hasn't worked in 24 hours, I post this and it starts working.... go figure.

Possible New Gateway - BGW210-700 (3x3 2.4 GHz / 4x4 5 GHz)

Sometimes I tease gateways(like the NVG3150), but they don't always actually come out, so keep that in mind. Sometimes these gateways that actually go through testing have a better chance. The past NVG3150 has not gone through testing at the time of this thread. For those curious, a new Arris/Pace gateway has gone through testing just recently. The model number is the BGW210-700. The design looks similar to the NVG3150 pictures I saw on AT&T's site. It's basically the same thing as the NVG3150, but with 4x4 on the 5 GHz radio over 3x3, and no SFP port. It doesn't have external photos, but the label location page seems to be pretty descriptive, showing an AT&T logo/label info. https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=5ZorwKVaDcGrsSRc0N0Z0g%3D%3D&fcc_id=PGRBGW210 It doesn't seem like it was tested for anything cellular related based off a first glance.

CPHLNCRO Outages

Any techs know or able to look up what's going on with outages in the Chapel Hill NC CO CPHLNCRO? Wondering if there are issues with the OLT gear for fiber? The tech support said "power issues" but with GPON, I doubt the CO would be without power for close to 24 hours. I have no light at the ONT I guess as it's in alarm. I've has a few outages but none as long as this. Guess it's time to get them to do an audit for credit since service was installed in February.

Uverse Fiber?

Hi my friend in Akron,OH just got Uverse and the tech removed his copper and ran fiber into the house. I live in the next city over about 16 miles away when I had Uverse it was fiber from the street into my house via the copper and was fast but laggy unlike my old ADSL that was using "Fast Path" and the Uverse was using "Interleaved". I switched to to Spectrum cable it's got a lower ping but speeds seem wonky as I think the node may be crowded. If I switch back will I get fiber ran into my house?
