New cat6 from att gateway/router to att nid on side of house

I am running new cat6 cable from the att gateway inside my house to the nid on the side of the house. Attached is a picture of the nid where the existing cat5 cable is connected. The cat5 is the pink cable. It looks like I would be able to flip up those colored pair tabs where the individual cat5 pairs are connected currently, remove the cat5, then insert the new cat6 matching the colors, then flip the tab back down to lock the wire in. Is this correct or is there something else I need to do?

Multiple branded jacks

We'll need to move our rg to another room soon during a kitchen/family room remodel. Can more than one branded jack be active at once? I'd like to just add a temporary connection for the rg in another room. My son does a fair amount of his college class work online so he'll need a wired connection.

We currently have Uverse in small area of McCalla AL. Today came home and ATT is pulling fiber in our neighborhood. Think they might start up Gigapower? Neighborhood only has once entrance and about 30 homes in it.

I recently got uVerse and Supernatural season premier is on tonight and I cannot find the channel. What gives here? I read something about sub-channels not being offered on uVerse. What kind of non-sense is that? The CW has some great programming on it.

Internet subsidy for a California resident ?

I have a friend in California (West Hollywood, Los Angeles) who is on AT&T U-Verse. He's part of C A R E (California Alternative Rates for Energy) which offers him subsidies on his landline, gas, and electricity bills (he's 80 years old). I'm wondering if there are any state programs/etc which could offer him a subsidy on his internet bill. His income is limited, so if there is any org which offers a subsidy I'd appreciate knowing about it - I'll pass the information on to him. Anyone know? Thanks.

Getting ATT internet without their phone line?

Hi, I recently took a look at my expenses, and it seems I'm paying a lot for AT&T's landline service - $34 per month! I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to cancel the landline service while still keeping the internet (i'm not too clear on the technical details of internet and phone lines as you can see). I still want landline for my dad, so my plan would be to switch to a significantly cheaper company for that while keeping the internet and TV for myself >:D Would this work?

At&t to buy Time Warner for $80+ billion

Damn you At&t for now all the money you have spent in acquisitions and buyouts you could of covered your footprint in Fiber AND made your OWN MEDIA company doesn't At&t have any smart people? $130+ billion spent so far, this shows this company nickle and dimes its costumers You should of went for Netflix and left Time Warner to die better yet start your own media company?? http://www.cnbc.com/2016/10/22/att-reaches-deal-to-buy-time-warner-for-more-than-80-billion-report.html "Both companies are expected to announce a deal as early as Saturday evening as the two boards meet to approve a deal, these sources added. On Friday, Time Warner shares spiked nearly 8 percent to close at $89.48, while AT&T slumped 3 percent to finish the session at $37.49. Earlier Saturday, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said in a speech that under a potential GOP White House, his administration would not approve the deal. AT&T told CNBC it has no comments on Trump's remarks."

NVG589 Reboots/Lockups

Just for reference, I am actually a Frontier(ex. AT&T) customer, but figured I would post here due to the wider amount of people with these gateways here. I don't know why, but I'm having terrible luck with my NVG589s. My first NVG589 was a Motorola branded AT&T U-verse unit. It would reboot on its own all the time. The only way I could get it to stop rebooting every day(sometimes multiple times a day) would be to manually pull the power. That would keep it running typically for about 30 days or so, until it would basically lock up, forcing me to reboot it. That reboot would then cause it to go into the constant reboot cycle until I once again did the manually reboot. A never ending cycle. On top of that, if I were to click either the "Wireless Scan" or congestion scan buttons in the UI, the gateway would just crash(only happening on this first one). So, I then tried to get a replacement gateway. The 2nd NVG589 was a newer Arris/Frontier branded unit. This one doesn't have the crazy reboot as the first one. Sometimes it does, but it only happens once and a while. However, this gateway still locks up roughly every 30 days. I have only been able to check the logs once as this was happening, due to it basically being impossible to get the pages to load most of the time. The one time that I was able to check the logs, I noticed these new entries that I don't typically see - L4 mcp[1268]: mcp: error sending membership query - No buffer space available L3 dhcpd[1361]: send_packet: No buffer space available L3 dhcpd[1361]: icmp_echorequest [Chromecast's LAN IP]: No buffer space available Whenever it basically locks up, all of the TVs freeze up, no internet traffic passes through, and I believe no phone as well. It's not even possible to connect to the network during this time, since I can't get a LAN IP on my devices trying to connect. I tried turning off IPV6, but that basically did nothing. I didn't have an issue like this with my original 3801HGV with the same setup. Am I just really unlucky, these NVG589s are buggy, or is my setup causing this? Right before it froze up this time, I was poking around the gateway UI. Out of nowhere, it loaded the AT&T U-verse color theme with the Frontier logo for some reason. The Frontier UI color theme is a red/black/white instead of the blue/white of AT&T's. The reboot itself on its own can't be a power issue, as least I think, since I've had the battery backup in it for a while(though it hasn't been it in for a while now). It would still fully reboot even with the battery. Any idea/how this is occurring? No idea why it's saying no buffer space available. My setup isn't exactly 'supported', but I don't really know how it would be causing an issue. I currently have my wireless receivers running through my RT-N66 in access point mode. I also have IGMP snooping/multicast enabled in the radio settings. My receivers never really have a problem. But then again, this was how it was with my 3801HGV as well. If I'm remembering correctly, if I reboot the gateway myself prior to the 'roughly' 30 days lockup, it doesn't happen. On this 2nd gateway, one time when it locked up, I went to go reboot it by the reset button(since it had the battery in at the time). When I did that, all of the lights were stuck fully lit until I went to take the battery out, so that I could shut it off. I have tried rebooting every piece of my equipment(devices, receivers, my RT-N66 in AP mode) to see if it would have any effect while the gateway was locked up. It didn't.

My house for some reason shows Uverse as Unavailable. Though everyone around me shows the service as available. I just want the TV service. Are there any Techs that can fix my address issue in the system? I am in the Clarksville, TN 37042 region.

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my line? Thank you!!!

General equipment question

My sister has just placed an order for U-verse. Her apartment complex being brand new pre-wired for AT&T. Rep said charges for the gateway. I'm guessing this is some sort of combination modem and router? Can equipment be purchased by the end user instead?

I have U-Verse Internet only- I ping Ip address (207.246.147.250) to find out my latency time and the ping keeps saying packet filtered 100% packet loss. Google says there is a transparent proxy cache for this site, causing the slow down. Been having a very bad problem with speeds to this one web site for the last month. Every other web site runs fine.

Ugraded to ATt&T Fiber

Upgraded from Comcast Business 50/10 plan to AT&T fiber. I had the Comcast service for over five years and always got 10 Mbps more than my rated upload speeds and really can't complain about the service as I only subscribed to internet. Times change and so does technology and it was time for an upgrade! My installation went smoothly. Eric, the AT&T tech called me about 50 minutes before the appointment and arrived 20 minutes early. Installation took him a little under 3 hours. Nice guy and professional. With the switch, I'll still have unlimited data and my internet bill will go down from $110 to $70 with an increase of speed of 15X on download and 890 Mbps increase in upload speed. Of course, finding sites outside of speed testing that can utilize that speed really aren't around but I'll be future proofed for awhile, at least. Really like how buffering on steaming videos in now virtually non existent and downloading large files such as games from Steam are much faster, averaging around 180 Mbps. Very happy so far! Here are a few speed tests! http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5739686130 [att=1]

Issues since install of 1gig service.

So I had them install gigapower on Saturday which was about a 4 hour install. Since then all I have gotten is speeds all over the place, wifi that drops down really badly and service that goes out which is really the big problem. I had them come back out yesterday and they swapped the modem and improved the line ratings a bit they said. Again it went out last night. They guy wasn't even out of my driveway when the wifi started to drop into the teerns again. The guy nearly installed a new line, but they didn't in the end. The tech was concerned because he said the green service line should come on like instant with fiber but mine slowly comes on. When the service did go out last night I noticed the service light was still on-odd. This is probably one of the first installs in a newly installed neighborhood that happened in August. I’m having them come out once again today is there anything that could be causing such issues. One other note I have been hooking up my Linksys router for better wifi which does give a bit of a boost, but in the end when the service goes down its out. Would hooking up the router cause these outages?
