24 Mbps speed package

I've had my profile bumped to 32/5 by att. Every once in a while it drops back to the 25/2 profile. Att tells me it will drop back to 25/2 if I don't get the 24 Mbps speed package. When I log into my account it doesn't show 24 being available. Looking at my stats could I get the 24 Mbps package?

looks like my 30-40 year old neighborhood is getting gigapower lol!

so today I get a ring of the doorbell at 10:30 this morning it was a guy from at&t I thought at first he was trying to sell uverse lol and I told him a few times no lol. and then he said they are going to be doing trenching and that they needed to talk to the home owner so I asked so is gigapower coming he said eventually so I guess my backyard is getting a handhole for fiber? I know that I have the pedestal for legacy POTS/DSL/VDSL I know that my neighborhood earlier this or late last year got a second VRAD I guess it got full again and they said screw it fiber as my neighborhood does have a lot of uverse customers.

AT&T Gigapower - any rip/replace of copper in Midwest region?

Has anyone in AT&T's Midwest footprint, who present has access to U-Verse, seen AT&T deploy FTTH? I'm wondering if at&t is upgrading infrastructure in this region of the country compared to other regions - all the FTTH deployments I've heard of are in new builds/a handful of cities in OH/IL. Nothing in Michigan, so far.

24Mbps Service Questions

10 years ago I had AT&T DSL service here but the highest speed available was 3Mbps due to my house being over 8000 feet from the office. Since then we have used Time Warner for Internet but now my cost is over $84 a month for 20Mbps service. I happened to log onto the AT&T website and they offer an up-to 24Mbps service to my location for $50 the first year, going to $60 after that. What changed in 10 years? It doesn't look like any upgrades were done but maybe they did. Also, if I switch to AT&T again do I have to use their wi-fi on the gateway? I just rewired our house and installed a new media cabinet, and bought a new Apple Time Capsule which I use as a wifi access point and router. Just wondering what will have to change if I change my provider. Thanks.

ARRIS NVG599

Switched to ARRIS NVG599 in January 2016 because of constant problem with NVG589 randomly dropping phone line. Have not had any problems until recently. Now it appears that port 1 & 2 are not working. Couple of weeks ago one of my computers could not connect using port 1, switched cable to port 2 & computer connected. Yesterday same computer would not connect using port 2, switched to port 3 & computer connected. Before calling AT&T support thought I would see if anyone else has experienced problems with ports that stopped working or if anyone could suggest what else I can check to be sure that I don't have other problems. Originally had 2 computers connected to port 1 & 4, now having to use 3 & 4. Thanks for any suggestions,

Static IP woes with Pace 5268ac FXN

I am having an issue with static IP's on this device. Every so often, my internet connection will partially go out -- and by that I mean that it will stop accepting new connections, existing connections will continue to work. I think that the way that Static IP's are handled on this device is bugged, I also read it's due to exhausting the memory on the firewall built into the device, question is, why would the other computer without a static IP still work if that was the case? I have another machine hooked up to port 2 but it's still working. The reason it is still working is because I have it set to pass the RG's DHCP WAN address through, and not a static IP. I also found this thread that said that said he was having issues with Static IP connectivity, and it turned out his static IP's were bad (is that possible?), and he got new ones and stopped having connectivity issues. https://forums.att.com/t5/General-Device-Support/U-Verse-Static-IP-setup-and-access-problem/td-p/4785826

GigaPower in San Jose

Just got it installed today: (I think I need to test on a faster computer, but close enough) Edit to add, some details about the install: yesterday, they did the fiber drop to a new NID box with the ONT outside, and installed the power adapter with battery for the ONT indoors, and ran the two conductor wire for power. Today, they ran a cat5e from the ONT to the new gateway, which is a Pace 5268AC. Not sure about the model of the ONT, likely the G-240G-A? 4x ethernet ports, 2x pots ports.

Significant UVerse Speed Drop

I haven't had to come to this site in a while because my Uverse has been solid until recently. For the past few days I've experience very poor download bandwidth on my 12Mb Uverse connection. Interesting enough it has gotten worst since it started raining this week. Do the ATT techs still frequent this site, if so can you check my line quality and associate gateway.

Couple Gigapower questions

We've got crews tearing up the neighborhood laying fiber for AT&T, so I've got Gigapower service coming my way shortly. I just wanted to make sure of a couple things: * The data cap is gone for Gigapower customers, right? * I had read that the deep packet inspection AT&T is doing has been turned off and there's no longer an extra charge to do so, correct? * Will AT&T block incoming traffic? I'm sure they'll block port 80, port 25, etc. and that's fine. But will they block _all_ incoming traffic? Thanks!

Is this Opt Out change creating DNS issues? I can't load certain sites all of a sudden... I guess I could always switch to google's dns, but wanted to make sure it wasn't just me.

AT&T Backbone issues in the Dallas area?

$

Just wondering if anyone has seen any AT&T Internet / Backbone issues in the Dallas area? For the last week or so, from 2pm till 4pm, I've been experiencing 100% packet loss for small periods of time and they are getting dropped by: 71.155.13.252 and 12.83.80.209 which are AT&T addresses. Just wondering if this is a isolated issue to me or if anyone else is seeing similar results.

Are these speeds satisfactory for Gigapower?

I recently had Gigapower installed. I live in an apt building. Within the apartment the Gigapower is installed over phone line. With a wired question, according to speedtest I receive about 600mbps down. With wireless over 5g I receive in the 300s usually. Also have the Pace gateway. Do they disable the usb drive ? I want to attach a network drive.

Port Forwarding for the Pace 5268AC

I have a Windows 7 and a Windows 10 computer behind my Pace 5268AC router. When I set up the pinhole for one computer using port 3389 with the "RDP" protocol, it works fine. The tool at http://www.portchecktool.com shows port 3389 open. For the second computer, I created a user-defined pinhole with port 3390 TCP. I selected the Windows 10 computer in the router and assigned the user-created application for port 3390 to it. Not only can I not connect to the computer remotely, portchecktool.com does not show the port as open. I've gone through this process a number of times and have not been successful opening the port. I've followed the instructions meticulously including being sure to hit the "save" button. Nothing I do will open the pinhole. What am I doing wrong? Both computers were easily accessible with my previous NVG599 router. Since the port is not showing as open, the problem can't be a firewall on the Windows 10 computer (which I turned off before I started using the portchecktool.)

Question about U-Verse with Gigapower (new home)

We are having a new home built. The subdivision we are moving to does not offer any kind of cable TV provider (like Spectrum, Suddenlink, etc), only U-Verse with Gigapower which is fine with us as we really want to have U-Verse again. They run fiber to the home so we can get the gigapower speeds along with the 6 stream DVR (from what I have been reading). My question is, what type of connection does U-Verse prefer to the set top box? My plan is to have a jack on each wall where we will have an stb that has both coax and a cat-6 network jack, but I was just curious if AT&T had a preferred method for hooking up the stb's? Thanks!

Gigapower technician needed for install? Already had U450 & PACE RG

Gigapower became available in my area (Spanish Springs/Sparks NV) yesterday and I went ahead and ordered the upgraded service. I am confused though as it gave me an installation window. I had uVerse installed back in May with U450 and 75MBps with the PACE and Motorola DVR (large capacity). I thought I already had the necessary equipment and they just had to up the speed? It's FTTH. Will a tech actually come out? Will my service on the DVR go to 6 HD streams automatically?

So ATT has dropped fiber in my neighborhood and no words on time frame for it to be up and running. What has been your experience of how long it takes?

Getting UVerse with no phone line?

$

I just moved to a new apartment. It's located downtown in an extremely modern area - walking distance to the downtown library, the downtown courthouse, many fast food joins directly across the street and a utility company (Nipsco) directly across the street too. So it's a great central, modern location. I ordered landline phone service and UVerse Max Turbo internet from ATT and they said I had to have professional installation. When the technician arrived he took the cover off the living room phone/cable jack. He said there was supposed to be two wires in there but there was only one. He asked if there was another phone jack and I said there was one in the bedroom. He took the phone jack off in there and after a while he came back and said he was going to check the basement. I said okay and he left. He came back after a while saying that he couldn't get into the basement (my lazy office was closed as usual on a day it's supposed to be open). We talked a bit and he did some more work then he said I couldn't have a landline OR internet service and he left. I called to get a refund for my installation or whatever I paid $100 for and the woman I spoke to said there was no reason I shouldn't be able to have internet and home phone and that I was in a great location. She said the tech should have installed a phone jack. So she rescheduled someone to come install a phone jack. My question to this forum is, what can I do to make sure I get UVerse internet? The tech mentioned that he couldn't install it for another tenant because that person didn't have proper wiring in their unit either. Apparently the building's wiring is this way and we can't do anything about it. I don't think the management is going to change their wiring anytime soon, since apparently this is how their wiring has been ever since they started leasing units many years ago, so is there something ATT and/or I can do to get UVerse working? Will installing a phone jack fix it? If not what else should I ask ATT to do?

AT&T removing Internet Preferences option on Oct 2?

Please take this with a grain of salt. This is a big game of telephone where what I heard might not be what is intended. I was just on the phone with someone at AT&T sorting out billing issues. She read an internal memo that said that they were going to do away with the Internet Preference for Gigapower users on Oct 2. Has anyone heard anything else about this? To clarify, "Internet Preferences" is what they call the "deep packet inspection to target ads at us, the customers". I really hope this is true, but I haven't seen anything about it. Please, please don't get mad at me for spreading false rumors, I'm just re-stating what I was read. Its very possible I am way out of context. When they removed caps from Gigapower, it was on a Sunday. Oct 2 is also on a Sunday.
