AT&T Gigapower - any rip/replace of copper in Midwest region?

$

Has anyone in AT&T's Midwest footprint, who present has access to U-Verse, seen AT&T deploy FTTH? I'm wondering if at&t is upgrading infrastructure in this region of the country compared to other regions - all the FTTH deployments I've heard of are in new builds/a handful of cities in OH/IL. Nothing in Michigan, so far.

AT&T Gigapower/1000 (with Pace 5268ac) and IPv6 (6rd) problems ...

Hi everyone! I hope I'm not being too pessimistic here, unfortunately though, I spend over a week on this subject now and I told myself this is the last chance to get this going before moving on... :) My situation is that I currently got AT&T Gigapower (recently renamed to 1000) as I'm in a suburb of Atlanta where ATT delivers FTTN. The line was installed back in May with a Pace 5268ac Router. Now I outgrew the Pace 5268ac router as it's a piece of work as most of you know, so I ended up buying a Ubiquiti Edgerouter X that was supposed to be a cascaded router directly behind the Pace. The Edgerouter is configured as: * Cascaded Router * Assigned the Public WAN Address * Firewall Disabled and DMZplus Sure enough, I got IPv4 working and most other functionality (NAT, Port Forwarding ...). One thing though that I couldn't get working is IPv6. As probably most of you know, AT&T provides IPv6 through 6rd. That's also currently enabled on the RG, but unfortunately I can't get it working on my Edgerouter. I tried disabling IPv6 on the Pace and establishing the 6rd tunnel on the Edgerouter, but that failed for many reasons (see http://community.ubnt.com/t5/EdgeMAX/ATT-IPv6-6rd-with-Pace-5268AC-and-ER-X-Help-needed-for-6rd-IPv6/td-p/1699270). My understanding is that it might failed as the RG blocked protocol 41, a simple test though seemed to show that I should have been able to at least establish a sit tunnel to the BR server as the firewall log trying a different broker gave me: IN=br1 MAC=dc:7f:a4:e0:72:a4 SRC=185.114.135.xx DST=45.20.201.xx LEN=30 TTL=53 PROTO=41 Drop all traffic not from the border relay So I would expect that when trying to establish a 6rd connection to AT&T's BR server would work, but couldn't get it going for some reason... To clarify what I'm asking you: Is is possible to do what I was planning to do or not? Can I use my own router as cascaded router behind my Pace RG with full IPv6 support or will this always fail? Thanks for your replies, your help and time is much appreciated!

Best Router for Gigapower 1000/1000

As the title states,.. What is the best router to run with Gigapower Gigabit service? I know it may be varied , so just list the ones that 'work' properly with the configuration - and any that have Greater than 1Gbps port(s) -- That are under $500 if they exist. Secondly, I've heard both ways,.. But does ATT Gigapower allow authentication from a third party user owned router or does it have to go secondary to their own?

Who has AT&T Gigapower in Bay Area?

I have lived in Sunnyvale and now in Mountain view and have not received any information about coming upgrades. The Uverse service that is offered at my current address in Mountain View even maxes out at 18Mb/s. I am using Comcast 150/10Mb instead.

ATT GigaPower - Pace 5268AC DMZPlus Mode == Layer 2 bridge (y/n)

Greetings, I recently switched to ATT GigaPower fiber to the home service last month. I have the Pace 5268AC, with software version 10.5.3.527171-att. I have 1 ethernet device connected (My Gateway), which I have configured to be in the "DMZPlus" mode: ONT->Pace 5268AC->My Gateway->My Network When I run dhclient on my gateway, I am able to get a WAN IP on my routers interface The reason I am posting all of this is that many other threads here indicate that this device does not support bridging, and your only option for running another gateway was to double NAT behind it. Were these posts based on old information for a previous software version on the Pace 5268AC? Or am I missing something? Appreciate any thoughts or ideas

Gigapower Progress Hoover/Helena AL

Looks like they are making progress outside of the Birmingham, AL market in Hoover and Helena. I actually haven't seen any Gigapower activity in the city of Birmingham itself. They have started trenching and installing what would appear to possibly be fiber in my neighborhood in Helena.

Anyone else in Reno have Gigapower?

Curious if anyone else on here has Gigapower in the Reno, Nevada area. I'm glad to have 1gbps internet, better than Charter's 60/4 Mbps for sure. Here are some quick speedtests. [att=1] [att=2]

Gigapower slow on Wifi but fast on wired

I'm currently getting 600 Mbps on my wired connection but only 1-6 Mbps on all my wireless devices- two computers, ipad, and cell phones. I have a NVG589 and a cisco ven501 connected to it. Why is a cisco ven501 connected when I thought NVG589 has wifi capabilities? Could that be the problem? I live in an apartment so I suspect wifi to be slow, but not that slow. The computers have wireless n adaptors. Settings on NVG589 is WPA default key, mode B/G/N, bandwidth 20, channel automatic, power level 100.

AT&T UVerse - Intermittent network issue

Hoping you can help me out. This issue started today and ATT Tech Support is sending me out a new modem. I'm not sure if it's a modem issue, so I am turning to this site for help. Here's the issue. I'm experiencing overall slowness on all PCs on my network. I have 1 wired PC and 2 wireless laptops that are experiencing the same issue. Browsers will not load full sites. Sites like reddit, facebook, or any graphics heavy sites will either clock and time out or will only load half the content then clock. Refreshing the page sometimes corrects the issue. Tech support doesn't see any issues and are just sending me a new modem. This issue just started today. Any type of uploading will not work whatsoever and downloading is very slow. Rebooting the router and resetting it to factory settings didn't resolve the issue. If I run speedtests (both on here and on speedtest.net) don't show any kind of lag. Here is the link to my speedtest. I'm thrown for a loop as I don't know what else to really do. I'm trying to avoid having to drive into the office to work and I have a deadline by week's end, so any help is greatly appreciated. http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/5301730

AT&T removing Internet Preferences option on Oct 2?

Please take this with a grain of salt. This is a big game of telephone where what I heard might not be what is intended. I was just on the phone with someone at AT&T sorting out billing issues. She read an internal memo that said that they were going to do away with the Internet Preference for Gigapower users on Oct 2. Has anyone heard anything else about this? To clarify, "Internet Preferences" is what they call the "deep packet inspection to target ads at us, the customers". I really hope this is true, but I haven't seen anything about it. Please, please don't get mad at me for spreading false rumors, I'm just re-stating what I was read. Its very possible I am way out of context. When they removed caps from Gigapower, it was on a Sunday. Oct 2 is also on a Sunday.

Gigapower Speed Question

Hello, Sorry I'm pretty sure that question was answered before, but I can't find the right answer. Today we have switched from TWC to AT&T Gigapower. They have installed a Pace Plc Model 5268AC modem here. I'm testing on all the devices that are connected through 5 GHz channel and all of them showing maximum 100 Mbps. But most of the time around 80Mbps. The technician said that if I want full speed I will need a cable ... I've tried to connect directly and that just a little bit faster, like 130Mbps or so... so I can't understand what is the point that they're installing Gigapower and modem or something else can't bring that power anyway ? Thank you.

Uverse Connection Question

I am looking into signing up for Uverse service, but I would like to know what level of service that my house is wired for. I have posted a link to a picture of the inside of the outside phone box. Is this connection already setup for bonded pair? The ATT web page says that I only qualify for 24mbps. https://i.imgur.com/2cVZEmp.jpg Thank you

Getting UVerse with no phone line?

I just moved to a new apartment. It's located downtown in an extremely modern area - walking distance to the downtown library, the downtown courthouse, many fast food joins directly across the street and a utility company (Nipsco) directly across the street too. So it's a great central, modern location. I ordered landline phone service and UVerse Max Turbo internet from ATT and they said I had to have professional installation. When the technician arrived he took the cover off the living room phone/cable jack. He said there was supposed to be two wires in there but there was only one. He asked if there was another phone jack and I said there was one in the bedroom. He took the phone jack off in there and after a while he came back and said he was going to check the basement. I said okay and he left. He came back after a while saying that he couldn't get into the basement (my lazy office was closed as usual on a day it's supposed to be open). We talked a bit and he did some more work then he said I couldn't have a landline OR internet service and he left. I called to get a refund for my installation or whatever I paid $100 for and the woman I spoke to said there was no reason I shouldn't be able to have internet and home phone and that I was in a great location. She said the tech should have installed a phone jack. So she rescheduled someone to come install a phone jack. My question to this forum is, what can I do to make sure I get UVerse internet? The tech mentioned that he couldn't install it for another tenant because that person didn't have proper wiring in their unit either. Apparently the building's wiring is this way and we can't do anything about it. I don't think the management is going to change their wiring anytime soon, since apparently this is how their wiring has been ever since they started leasing units many years ago, so is there something ATT and/or I can do to get UVerse working? Will installing a phone jack fix it? If not what else should I ask ATT to do?

nvg510 lightning strike

We had a lightning strike nearby, it did not come thru the phone line, the wired section of the NVG510 works fine but the wireless is very weak. Is there a 3rd party modem the will work with uverse? I've googled it but most of the returns say yes to DSL but unsure of the uverse compatibility.

So ATT has dropped fiber in my neighborhood and no words on time frame for it to be up and running. What has been your experience of how long it takes?

AT&T Uverse Email....

I had my Uverse DSL only account for about 7 years now with the same one email I set up when I first got it. A friend is staying here for a few months so I created a new email address for him using one of my allowed 10 sub accounts under my Uverse DSL only account. Now everytime, since he created this new email address about a week ago, he logs into his att.net email account, it sits there for a couple of minutes withquote:Welcome to att.net Mail We are preparing your mailbox for you...What's the deal??? I have sent email to him from my att.net and yahoo and gmail accounts and he gets all of them right away. Same when he emails me or emails others from this att.net account. How do you make that go away?

Static IP Setup

Hey all, I just bought static IP's from AT&T to get around the annoying DHCP server issue I am having with the 5268ac. I was wondering how they get setup, am I going to be forced to have a technician come out, cause I really don't want them too. The person I chatted with said that I can buy them without scheduling a tech visit (which I did), but it could take 2 hours for them to start working. Now reading through their little FAQ again, it says I need to contact them to get it configured. So the question boils down to this, did I mess up by not having a tech come out, or is there anyway I can just manually find out my static IP range and enter it myself? Thanks.

I recently got uVerse and Supernatural season premier is on tonight and I cannot find the channel. What gives here? I read something about sub-channels not being offered on uVerse. What kind of non-sense is that? The CW has some great programming on it.

Upgrading to U-verse

My family has AT&T's legacy DSL Pro 3Mbps plan since 2005. I've called AT&T several times to bump our speed to 6Mbps but they refuse to do it. So we're now considering upgrading to U-verse Elite 6Mbps; the 18Mbps plan is available but that's kind of overkill for our needs. My main concern now is whether our line stats will support U-verse. Our DSL service is extremely stable but it's just slow. http://i.imgur.com/dzAED8J.jpg
