AT&T Gigapower

Had my gigafiber install done on October 7, 2016 in northwest Chicago (Galewood). There are currently 3 people in my neighborhood who have gigafiber. At the best speed, I get about 940/down and 950/up. Remarkable improvement from Comcast 75/down

Switch to DTV

Has anyone here switched from uverse to dtv? Comments about it both pro and con. I'm considering it since we dropped to ubasic. $20 more per month and get a whole lot more channels. Internet dropped to a crawl last night due to recording 4 shows and the wife using Netflix. I know uverse is shared bandwidth so getting dtv will give us full bandwidth for Internet. 18 Mbps plan currently but we could drop to 12 easily.

gigapower install what will the installer run in the house

Ok I am having 1gig service installed early next month. My particular situation is that my home network is terminated on the second floor of my house. I have a coax run currently from where the cable/phone hand off is on the outside of the house to my current router. I ran the coax myself and left a pull string to the second floor so it should be not too much of a problem for experienced cable runners. Are they actually going to run fiber or Ethernet to the same place in my house or do I need to get someone to help me run that before they show up?

My house for some reason shows Uverse as Unavailable. Though everyone around me shows the service as available. I just want the TV service. Are there any Techs that can fix my address issue in the system? I am in the Clarksville, TN 37042 region.

What do I do? Is it good that they put me on fast? I was on interleaved. They switched my modem to the 5268AC FXN. I contacted customer care and they said they no longer can set me back to interleaved. Is this a bad thing? Thank you. AT&T GigaPower vs. Comcast DOCSIS 3.1 Gigabit service

$

I currently have Comcast Extreme 150/20 and am weighing their offer of DOCSIS 3.1 Gigabit 1,000/35 service against AT&T's GigaPower 1 Gbps service. Fortunately both are available or should soon be available here. Unfortunately Google Fiber seems to be some years away, at best. To get the promotional pricing, I believe both plans require a multi-year commitment (two years for GigaPower, three for D3.1 Gigabit). Since the DOCSIS 3.1 standard and implementation are in flux, the Comcast service is expected to evolve, with increasing upload rates next year (but probably still asymmetrical) and eventually higher download speed tiers (2, 3, 4,... Gbps). I may be mistaken but I suspect the AT&T GigaPower service will remain at the same rate indefinitely. Before I make a decision and commit to one of these promising plans, I'd like to understand how easy or difficult was the transition to the GigaPower service for Comcast customers, including installation, and how satisfied you are with the new service. Would you have considered D3.1 Gigabit service had it been an option for you?

Uverse Connection Question

I am looking into signing up for Uverse service, but I would like to know what level of service that my house is wired for. I have posted a link to a picture of the inside of the outside phone box. Is this connection already setup for bonded pair? The ATT web page says that I only qualify for 24mbps. https://i.imgur.com/2cVZEmp.jpg Thank you

Gigapower Uptime?

Getting gigapower installed in a week. Is it truly 100% stable? I currently have cable, which is like 95% availability. I get atleast one 30 minute outage once a week during critical business hours. SLA is important because I'm a full-time telecommuter and having Internet access is of utmost importance. Should I consider keeping the cable connection as a backup? Is there a dual-WAN router that can support having both? Also, is the TV picture quality better with Gigapower?

Questions about Gigapower gateway

So, I have been considering getting Gigapower since it just became available where I live but i have a couple questions. 1. So I read that they do not charge essentially a modem(gateway) rental fee? 2. Hows the gateway? Can I use my own router? Does it have 5Ghz support? Anything else I should know?

Arris NVG599 (AT&T residential gateway)

I jut received a new NVG599 modem/router to replace my current NVG589. After installing the new router, the unit failed DNS query. All the lights on the front were green and power up sequence was fine. But the unit fails to connect my services except for about 30 seconds (tv, phone lines, interent). I see in the diagnostics page that an IP has been assigned but no DNS. When I re-install the old NVG589, it works fine (it had an intermittent rebooting problem which I actually may have fixed by turning off the ipv6 protocol ... but they sent the new modem anyway). Any suggestions? I rebooted 3 times and each time it fails on DNS. I can't believe the unit is bad. Seems to be working mechanically.

Are these speeds satisfactory for Gigapower?

I recently had Gigapower installed. I live in an apt building. Within the apartment the Gigapower is installed over phone line. With a wired question, according to speedtest I receive about 600mbps down. With wireless over 5g I receive in the 300s usually. Also have the Pace gateway. Do they disable the usb drive ? I want to attach a network drive.

AT&T Gigapower. Warcraft latency issues. Port forwarding? Packet Loss..

So i believe my latency is not where it should be for Gigapower speeds. I'm using the AT&T provided modem NVG599 I went to http://us-looking-glass.battle.net/ to conduct a ping test and this is what i received. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PING: PING (My IP Address) 56(84) bytes of data. --- My IP Address ping statistics --- 4 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 5000ms --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My ping in teneras is 49ms and that was similar to my cable modem with 150 Down - 20MB upload. I believe it should be way lower! i'm connected directly to the modem and i can achieve [att=1]

24 Mbps speed package

I've had my profile bumped to 32/5 by att. Every once in a while it drops back to the 25/2 profile. Att tells me it will drop back to 25/2 if I don't get the 24 Mbps speed package. When I log into my account it doesn't show 24 being available. Looking at my stats could I get the 24 Mbps package?

No power question with slave STB's

I have no power due to hurricane Matthew. I have a generator connected to the router and ONT. I can't power the main DVR due to it's location. I can power another TV which has a STB. Does that STB need the main DVR to work to watch live TV? It's wired via the COAX in the house.

"Spectrum" Cable (Time Warner) 100 Mbps tempting offer

$

Hope this isn't considered off-topic for this forum, but: The Uverse pricing deals I wrestled out of the Retention rep last year are about to expire, meaning my bill will soon shoot up $50+ a month unless I go to battle again. Got a mailer from Spectrum (the former Time Warner) in the mail this week. I normally toss these, but the new name caught my eye...and have to say the pricing kept my attention, basically $30/$30/$30 for voice, TV...and 100 Mbps internet, with no data caps. For an additional $20, you get HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax. They don't charge for the modem, and they say all the fees/taxes are rolled into the offered pricing. (In an extremely cheesy move, they claim "Free DVR service"...but you have to pay $5/mo for the actual DVR. So the "service" is free, but the DVR isn't? Lame.) I fully get that this is just *their* promo rate, and who knows what it will shoot up to after a year. But...as it stands, with their promo rate, even adding the 3 premium channels (which I don't have now) my bill would run about $55 less than what I'm paying for AT&T's promo rate...and my internet speed goes from 18 to 100. Don't know what I'm looking for here, except maybe...thoughts? Any TW refugees here that have horror stories? Would welcome comments about any potential loss of features. (Right off the bat, I can say Spectrum doesn't offer whole-home DVR, so that benefit is gone.) ???

Setting up IPv6 on Asus Router

I can't seem to get this to work. My setup: Pace 5268 - DMZ mode for Asus Asus - Assigned a public IPv4 + have 192.168.2.x subnet + Forwarded protocol 41 I am still using the Wifi on the Pace and have disabled the wifi on the Asus. The only thing I have hooked up to the Asus is my Windows PC for Wake on Wan, VPN, Plex, ect.. I have read several different posts and tried their suggestions but I can't get my Window's PC to get a working IPv6 connection. The options on the N66U are, Native, Static, and 6rd. I have tried manually entering the 6rd information but it didn't work. I am at my wits end on this. Can someone throw me a bone here?

Internet over coaxial work with existing equipment ?

I recently switched from Comcast to Uverse. I have my own Motorola/Arris SB6141 modem collecting dust. I also have a Pace gateway, that has a HomePNA coax out. Can I run a wire out of the coax out on my gateway into the coax in the wall, out into the modem and ethernet out into a computer ?

ATT charged me $248 for 3 no call no show.

Day (1) I call and called ATT for their dropping out about 20 times a day and this time we need to send a technician out again and again which is pointless. Anyway they said they would put a port booster on my lines. Ok the port booster is somewhere between my home and the nearest ATT remote server (NOT even in or near my house). So why do you need a tech to come at my house? Day (2) Anyway the next day he's suppose to come over to have a (port booster) installed and he never called and never showed and never fixed the lines. And come to find out that they lowered my modem speed from 3 to 1.5Mbps which I told him NO multiple times every time he brought it up and found out that I never got a port booster installed like they were suppose to. "Port booster only not lower my speeds!" Day (3) I called the next day to find out why my modem speed were half and why and why I have not got a port booster instead. I don't remember what he said but they will have another tech come out again to install the booster but will not fix the downgrade of my speed. I say fine whatever. Day (4) The next day another no call no show but I found out that they installed a port booster on. And, I mean and they charged me for $99 for a no call no show which I didn't know at the time. Which means they never stepped one foot in my house which means ATT can never charge me. That same day I called them saining they never call and never showed again. They said ok will try again. Day (5) Of course never called and never showed! So I called them again and checked my billing and found out that they charged me again, but this time it's $149 fee for never stepping on foot in my house and never showing!!! I asked them to check on what they wrote it there repot. Over the phone he said that they knocked on my door and no one answered but yet they charged me. Because of that he would reimburse me for the $149 and as for the $99 one that he would have to redirect me to someone else. Ok then, but to the wrong person then got redirect again. When I got through he said he can't. Ok I'll take it up to the BBB. Day (7) I got the $149 back and was suppose to get a auto E-mail within 24 hours but never did. I called again and on my $99 charge they said I would get reimbursed for that without arguing with them and I still never got an auto E-mail from that either. I have to wait a month or 2 to find out on my billing. All those day I called ATT said I can't get those 3Mbps service in my area. Which I know is a lie because they gave me 3Mbps which was 3 months ago and over 3 years ago when I had them for 2 years prior to that and then dropped them thanking I would find better internet that would stop dropping and that wasn't the case since the other ISP dropped me for good. Going out of business. I even have ATT check my account which would show on my bill of starting of 3Mbps. Day (10) As days gone by I desied to pratin to order internet in my area and it shows "only 3Mbps". ATT said I can't get 3Mbps. ATT lied twice over the phone. Note: They never slapped a door sign on for charging me and for never knocking at my door. For those 3 days they never called and showed, I was there 24 hours all day for those 3 days.

Expansin/Request possibility?

So I am currently living in New Jersey, I'm super angry I can't get Verizon FiOS in my house where there's other nearby homes with it and for years, I have been fighting to get it at my house. However, I fear that when Verizon releases 5G wireless for home, they will fade out FiOS. My best friend and my family are slowly moving to Florida and there's a possibility I may move there too. However, I'm in IT & play video games alot. I am desperately trying to get a home with Fiber to the Home, not copper like AT&T Uverse or wireless 5G they dub as fiber but actual fiber terminating to my home. AT&T Uverse I hear is building out fiber there in florida but mostly for Multiple Dwelling Units preferred. If I buy or build a house down there in the future, is there ANYTHING that I can do to get AT&T Uverse Fiber if I get a home without it? I'm willing to pay a couple grand for install. I would just only want to pay under 1k per month which is why I'm trying to stray clear of the dedicated expensive internet options.
