I turned off U-Verse internet but kept U-Verse TV until we see the lay of the land on the Frontier Communications deal for Connecticut. I am getting Internet from Cablevision in the meantime. I am wondering if it is possible to continue to use the remote control functionality of the Uverse Android application without being on the same subnet as U-Verse gateway. I have an OpenWrt router between the cable router and ATT gateway. ATT gateway is on a separate VLAN from my LAN that uses Cablevision for internet due to inability to stop DHCP on ATT gateway. Traffic is able to be routed into ATT VLAN from my LAN. I am able to control ATT DVR with Uverse Android app while connected to ATT gateway, but unable to control the DVR from my LAN. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to make this work? It seems the bottleneck is the inability to communicate from ATT VLAN into LAN subnet.
