I pulled the plug on UV digital TV two years ago and went to DirecTV. The biggest reason was that we just couldn't establish consistent digital surround sound without recurring audio dropouts. I'm now back to UV and sure enough the audio problem popped up again with the VIP-1200 box. Posts on this forum convinced me that there is no solution for the audio problems on this model so I asked the CSR to send a tech with a different model STB. (It was her first day on the phones and this resulted in an agonizingly long call as we walked through every troubleshooting step in her manual. I felt like I was having flashbacks of PTSD because I went through this so many times years ago.) The tech arrived last night and as I feared, he brought no replacement stb, just a set of analog component video and audio cables. I had a flash of insight, however, and suggested that we rotate the DVR and attach it to my home theater receiver in place of the VIP-1200. This worked like a charm and I couldn't be happier.
