u-verse routing woes

I have U-Verse, use their wireless router exclusively. I have a Synology Diskstation on Static IP 192.168.1.5 I have DDNS set up to map my public IP 99.99.99.99 to home.ddns.org I have an application pinhole for port 99.99.99.99:6090 to 192.168.1.5:6090 The pinhole works great externally. I try and connect to home.ddns.org:6090 and it works perfectly, its full speed, and I can access the service on my Synology DiskStation without any issues. When I get on my internal network, I try and access home.ddns.org, it tries to route to 99.99.99.99:6090, and my bandwitdh drops to ALMOST NOTHING. maybe 56kbps. traceroute yields a ton of unreachable, unknown hops. Every other NAT router I've ever used would have realized 99.99.99.99 was it's own public ip, honored the pinhole, and been just as fast as a LAN connection to 192.168.1.5 what am i doing wrong?
