uVerse, losing data packets

I have a NVG589 router with 12mb uVerse internet. Tech support recently told me that I am losing data packets. at&t's diagnostic tests are showing that the problem is with my line quality or port at which my services are connected. It's the problem because of "line quality issues and ports", that's why my service losses data packets. Also, I am trying to use Chromecast, but it cuts out every 5 seconds. Any help is appreciated!

Pace 5031 problems, no sound making outgoing calls when RG is on dmzplus

I decided to purchase a separate router because my PS3 keeps getting disconnected while on the Pace 5031 own wifi, something to do with it not having UPNP compatibility. I got my tp link router set up behind the RG, turned off wifi on the RG and every device connects fine like a normal router. The problem is when the RG switched to dmzplus mode to accomodate the external router it affects the uverse voice service. I cannot hear anything when making outgoing calls. I can hear a dial tone but no dialing ring on the phone. I even called my own cell phone, my cell phone would ring and I could only hear one way but I do not hear any sound on my phone's speaker. Receiving calls on the other hand has no problems. The problem with the voice service is resolved when I turned off the dmzplus. But then my router wont receive internet connection with dmzplus off. I saw the same problems being reported at the att support forums with no viable solution. I hope AT&T releases a fw upgrade to the pace 5031 to resolve this.

Per me UVerse account, rate will go up by $5.00 beginning March 2014. I guess it is time to seriously consider other providers.

Slow Speeds in Dallas (75208)

Is anyone else experiencing slow speeds on their UVerse.....we're receiving download speeds of just 0.48 Mb/s

Just what u-verse speed tiers are available to me?

I am on the Northwest side of Chicago, NPA-NNX 773-774. Currently have ADSL using the Siemens Speedstream 4100 modem, plus ancient landline. The combination is just OK. At least once a year, I lose service on both voice and data. Failure modes are: severe noise level, or total silence. Techs assure me that the outside plant is in poor shape. I am inclined to believe them. Recently, I have noted that my ping times to downtown Chicago, normally a sad 50mS, have deteriorated to an abysmal 85mS. The latest line tests from dslreports confirmed performance problems. Are the culprits: Outside plant? Line card? Some combination? I am thinking it's time for Uverse. I receive the periodic nag mailings from AT&T, and I have a couple VRADs in the neighborhood--one a block away, another a half-mile. For TV I currently get over-the-air. Picture is fine, but I am noting that content is slowly disappearing. Streaming is in my future. For voice comm, I intend to move to third-party VoIP; the economics are compelling. And, my present wireless router is a nice ASUS dual-band, working just fine. So, I want internet only, and bridge mode on any modem/gateway. Regarding maximum available link speed, the att.com/u-verse site tells an inconsistent and confusing tale: --Location---- -----Max speed uverse----- 1 house East == 12Mbps "Max" my house ===== 18Mbps "Max Plus" 1 house West == 12Mbps "Max" Across street == 24Mbps "Max Turbo" A few questions/issues: What really is my speed profile? Can I find out without ordering U-verse service? Can I get Power tier? Max Turbo? If my download speed limit is 12Mbps, is the Moto 2210-02-1ATT (black) modem off of Ebay an appropriate piece of gear? How about for 18Mbps? Is there any other modem that is recommended for my intended mission profile? Thanks for any guidance.

The title pretty much says it all; AT&T is installing Uverse -- U450 and Max Plus (18M) -- in my home this Thursday. Hopefully I get a decent tech, because chances are I know this system much better than (s)he does :) Plus, it'll be an easy install. I'll have one DVR, 2 wired STB's, and one wireless. When I moved into this home (10/2013) I dropped 2 RG6 and 2-6 CAT6 drops into each room. The coax remains in the attic, but the networking stuff hits a 16U wall mounted swing frame in my garage. All cables are terminated on ADC CAT5 RJ-RJ panels, and ran up to a 24 port Cisco Catalyst 2950. Yes, a 10/100M switch. This thing has been absolutely rock solid, and hasn't even hiccuped since install. Eventually I'll step up to a 1G switch, but I don't have a reason as of now. I'm going to make a bracket and mount whatever RG I get and a Netgear GS105 (or 108 if I can find it) in the frame. This way my network will be isolated, and will not catch any of the multicast traffic. Wireless will be split between my Asus RT-AC66N (N devices and AC when I finally get some) and an ancient Cisco Aironet 1200 (converted to IOS and G). I kind of wanted to keep everything wired, but the wireless box will be a good "floater." It'll work great in my office this winter, and on my pool deck in the summer! From previous experience the wireless boxes were much more responsive too. Maybe something has changed in the last 3 years tho...?

Questions before a switch from Comcast

At this point I figure I can save about $25 a month switching to a comparable plan on Uverse from Xfinity, though Id drop from 25Mbps to 18. Not a deal breaker, plus im getting more movie channels and the total home dvr and wireless addon. The last time I had uverse, about 3 years ago while living with a friend, it was a bit underwhelming. I have some questions regarding the service now. 1. At that time the ondemand aspect of uverse was pretty bad. Selections paled in comparison to Comcast and it took much longer to get recently aired shows in the ondemand listings. Has that changed at all? 2. Picture quality was noticeably worse, not much, but enough that I could notice on identical TVs. Now that i have a 65" VT60 I don't necessarily want to deal with a worse signal/picture quality, though I pretty much only watch HD channels. 3. Will I have any issues running my DDWRT router off the Uverse gateway, and running all my internet, wireless and wired (phones, tablet, PS3/4), through that? 4. Anyone use a harmony remote with their unverse system? I have the One, any problems replicating features from that? I think that is about it for now. Thanks for the help!

5031NV-030 rebooting itself

$

AT&T came out on the 1st and gave me a new modem, replacing the old 3600. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28924286-What-is-the-direct-number-to-St.-Louis-Tier-2-Technical-support- My UVerse Internet only has worked beautifully since then. Tonight, in the past 8 hours, I see all green lights are on solid. Then I get on the internet and open a couple of webpages and on 3 different occasions, as soon as I do that, the 5031 reboots itself causing me to lose internet connection. Has anyone tonight had their UVerse internet reboot itself, regardless of Modem Model? Is AT&T working on something?

Primary DNS Server Non-Responsive

The Primary DNS server in my 3600HGV router is no longer responsive but the secondary server is. This makes for some very slow initial connections as seen by my connected devices. I expect that AT&T knows their DNS server address is non-responsive but it should be removed from the router via the DHCP configuration we get. Is there something I can do from the router to get around this issue? --Don M (Dallas, TX)

U-Verse Plans for Pevely, MO

Hello, A while back someone from the site was able to provide me a date when U-Verse was suppose to be installed in our subdivision, which i believe was Dec 2014. The other day i noticed there was some digging going on at the SIAD at the subdivision entrance, a new concrete pad has been laid with orange tubing sticking out of it. I was wandUering if someone could confirm that this was U-Verse? If not would it be some kind of other Internet service. Currently we only have charter and its bad. Ryan Bohnert (rb9594)

Unable to forward ports on 3800HGV-B

So, I'm completely stumped about this. No matter what I do re: forwarding/opening ports, I cannot for the life of me get it to work on this 3800HGV-B U-Verse gateway. Specifically, I'm trying to open TCP and UDP ports 4950 and 4951 for Warframe, though I have issues with any ports. I tried the port checker at http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and I got the following dings in my firewall log: INF 2014-01-21T18:38:01-05:00 fw,fwmon src=198.199.98.246 dst=192.168.1.65 ipprot=6 sport=58067 dport=4951 Session Matches User Pinhole, Packet Passed INF 2014-01-21T18:38:02-05:00 fw,fwmon src=198.199.98.246 dst=192.168.1.65 ipprot=6 sport=58069 dport=4951 Session Matches User Pinhole, Packet Passed INF 2014-01-21T18:38:03-05:00 fw,fwmon src=198.199.98.246 dst=192.168.1.65 ipprot=6 sport=58071 dport=4951 Session Matches User Pinhole, Packet Passed INF 2014-01-21T18:38:01-05:00 fw,fwmon src=198.199.98.246 dst=192.168.1.65 ipprot=6 sport=58067 dport=4951 Session Matches User Pinhole, Packet Passed INF 2014-01-21T18:38:02-05:00 fw,fwmon src=198.199.98.246 dst=192.168.1.65 ipprot=6 sport=58069 dport=4951 Session Matches User Pinhole, Packet Passed INF 2014-01-21T18:38:03-05:00 fw,fwmon src=198.199.98.246 dst=192.168.1.65 ipprot=6 sport=58071 dport=4951 Session Matches User Pinhole, Packet Passed Yet the the site reports it as closed, and Warframe whines that I'm behind a strict NAT and I need to open the ports (and enable UPnP, which I know you can't do on it anyway). I'm completely baffled and I can't find any other help anywhere else about this gateway. And the odd thing is, this was working up until about... maybe 6-8 months ago, give or take, then suddenly stopped after a reboot or a possible automatic firmware update.

Moving out of state but will need 2nd uverse for 1-2 months. Ideas?

I currently have UVerse TV200/InternetPro (subscribed for ~4 years now; don't think I'm on a contract) in CT but will be moving to Dallas in a couple months. However my wife is staying behind for 1-2 months before joining me. During this transition time, I'll need at least internet service at the new apt. We're then planning on moving to a more permanent home in 6 months. I tried to see what I could get with UVerse for short periods, and they all involved at least a $99 installation fee plus buying (another $100) or leasing the receiver. An other option is to downgrade my current account to just internet so she can stream the couple shows she watches and I can set up a new account in Dallas, but I won't have the TV until the movers get here. What are my best options or other possibilities ?

Those of you thinking about getting 45/6 tier

Hi all. Do a lot of reading on this site as there is lots of great information, first time poster. My household is very Internet heavy, especially on my end so I always upgrade when a new tier of speed is available in my area. I have had AT&T as my ISP since the original DSL service came to my neighborhood and got uverse about three years ago and love it. As far as the new tier goes I just got it installed two weeks ago and I only waited because of the 99 dollar install fee. Not that I couldn't pay it, just wanted to find a way around it. No contract for me so I called them and asked to waive the fee and the rep at first said she couldn't do it so I explained that since I was not under contract I could just as easily cancel my uverse service and go with Comcast and take advantage of their promos (bluffing of course, mother in law has them and I have never been impressed with their TV setup) and get the faster speeds I need (want). No argument from her. I was placed on hold for a min or two and when she came back my wish was granted along with the power tier promo price. Just figured I would throw this out there for those that are thinking about getting it. As far as the install, it took the tech about 35 mins. Bran

What's with the $99 installation for U-Verse Internet Power (45mbps) plan?

I'm just curious as to why the U-verse 45mbps plan has a $99 installation fee. I switched from the 12mbps plan to the 24mbps w/no installation charge and it took effect almost immediately, but when I try to go from 24 to 45mbps it tacks on a $99 installation fee. Does anyone know if they have to bring you a new modem or something? Thanks, Stephen
