AT&T Bypass with Resellers

$

I'm looking at my 1G/1G internet only plan coming in at $100/month. I've got a functioning, repeatable bypass method with PFSense and pfatt. If I jump to say, toast.net, will this bypass still work? I know they use the same fiber (and therefore same backend). I've heard that they use the same gateways as well. But I'm not sure if they push different certificates to them. Anyone have experience with this?

There's a plastic sheet wrapped around the lines in my alley.

There was some heavy wind happening in my area and it blew this plastic sheet around the lines at the pole in my alley. I've called the Power Company and explained to them about it and they sent someone out... only to tell me that those were cable lines and the person couldn't do anything about it. Today, I had a AT&T tech come out since I have their service and the tech told me that he couldn't do anything about it either. At this point I really have no idea what to do at this point. Who do I contact to have this plastic sheet removed from these lines? Images taken of the plastic sheet wrapped around the lines. [att=1] --- [att=2] I haven't encountered any issues so far but this is a bit of a concern if this sheet somehow connects to something that it shouldn't connect too...

[AT&T Fiber] BGW320 and DNS Editing

I currently have the BGW210 and I am looking to install pi-Hole https://pi-hole.net/ The last step is to use the pi-hole as the DNS on my network. The BGW210 does not allow any DNS edits as far as my research shows. Is the 320 the same or does it allow editing? Thanks

[AT&T Fiber] What RG will be provided to a new subscriber in my area.

Hello, After spending quite some time in scouring the forums and internet regarding bypassing the AT&T provided RG, I am close to switching from Spectrum to AT&T Gig fiber. I am in the process of testing the “Dumb Switch” method that I learned from reading the various posts listed in DSLReports. A friend of mine “volunteered” to be my guinea pig :D, and test my planed setup using a Sophos UTM 9 firewall with a possible future change to a Unifi USG. Prior to jumping into the rabbit hole, I have noticed that some users are receiving the new BGW350 RG. It is my understanding, the BGW350 can not be bypassed. I was wondering if it is possible to know what RG will be provided to new subscribers in my area? Thank you for any input.

[VDSL] Will ATT Internet 100/20 IPBB/VDSL have a 1TB cap after 12/31?

This specific question got a bit buried in my other thread: I want the opinion of others here on if IPBB/VDSL "Internet 100" will have a data cap after 12/31/2020. From various AT&T pages, press releases and plan change ups announced10/1/2020, it appears "Internet 100" has had its price, promotions and data use policy matched across both Fiber and IBPP/VDSL. I believe ATT did this to avoid mass price/policy/promotion confusion, and eliminating differences between "Internet 100 IBPP" and "Internet 100 Fiber" However it's unclear not all info I have found is in agreement. Quotes and links below Appears to have no cap, posted 10/1/2020 (Source of attached Image): https://www.att.com/help/internet/usage.html 1Internet 100 and Internet 300Mbps speed tiers – Unlimited data allowance for existing customers, new activations, or upgrades as of October 4, 2020. Press Release about New fiber plans, but mentions data cap by speed delivered, not tech used: https://about.att.com/story/2020/att_fiber_new_options.html Existing and new Internet 100, 300 and 1000 customers to also receive unlimited data Appears to be older, and lumps internet 100 and 300 having a cap: https://www.att.com/support/article/u-verse-high-speed-internet/KM1010099/ 1 terabyte (TB) per month: If you have internet speed tiers up to and including 768 kilobits per second (Kbps) through 300 megabits per second (Mbps). We all know All DSL/VDSL/Fiber speeds have Unlimited data/no cap until 12/31/2020 from this, but this link lists nothing about which speeds will continue with this policy after 12/31/2020: https://about.att.com/pages/COVID-19.html#consumers That means new and existing AT&T FiberSM[1] and AT&T Internet customers[2] can use unlimited data and won’t see overage charges on their home Internet bill through December 31. Fine Print Listed under all "ATT Internet speeds" but mentions Internet 768 to 75 contains text about the 1TB data allowance: https://www.att.com/ecms/sharedcontent/en/legal/Wireline/UpperFunnel/Internet_SP/jcr:content/desktoplegal/legalsharedcontent.html INTERNET OFFER: Price for Internet plans (768k to 75M) for new residential customers. .... †Data Allowance: $10 charge applies for each additional 50GB (up to $100/mo). Unlimited data allowance may also be purchased separately for an add’l $30/mo., or maintain a bundle of TV & Internet on a combined bill and receive unlimited internet data at no add’l charge. Fine Print for internet 100, however listed under ATT Fiber does not list the usage plan and offers sign up promotional gift cards: https://www.att.com/ecms/sharedcontent/en/legal/Wireline/UpperFunnel/Fiber_SP_ATL_CHAR/jcr:content/desktoplegal/legalsharedcontent.html INTERNET OFFER: Price for Internet 100 for new residential customers. ... $100 REWARD CARD: Ends 10/31/20. Online only. For new residential AT&T Internet customers purchasing high speed internet plans 100M and higher online at att.com. I mention promo cards specifically because when I signed up for Internet 100 via IPBB/VDSL I also received gift card promotions, which is odd since it seemingly was only available for fiber signups, but then also applied to Internet 100 IBPP. Again further proving policy/promo/datause & Pricing is matched on both delivery methods of internet 100. This will potentially save me $30 a month if it is true as I am a Internet 100 IBPP customer, but for those who can only order 25/50/75 customer on VDSL would have a cap and would pay $10 more per month for the slower VDSL plans, and receive no promotional sign up gift cards. My friend who just moved just 2 miles from me can only order Internet 50, and is angry to say the least about paying more for slower speeds, a cap, and no promo gift card. All the more unfair, its being delivered using the same tech, same VRADS, and general setup, but gets completely different treatment.

[AT&T Fiber] Using Asuswrt-Merlin to bypass RG

Hi guys, I successfully bypass AT&T's RG using rt-ac68u with extracted certs from both NVG510 and NVG589 No pfSense, or netgraph, or ubiquiti devices, or dumb switch needed. I only tested with rt-ac68u, but the method should work for all Asuswrt-Merlin based wireless routers (Please let me know if it doesn't). Basically, the AiProtection in Asuswrt auto tags net traffic with VLAN, so we only need to update wpa_supplicant which works with extracted certs. More detail here https://github.com/bypassrg/att. Any comments and suggestions are appreciated.

AT&T server missing from SpeedTest.Net

Just curious, anyone else not seeing an AT&T server listed when using speedtest.net? This may be a localized thing in the Nashville TN area. Was just wondering if anyone else doesn't see one listed anymore. No matter if I try it from an AT&T circuit, Comcast circuit, an L3 circuit or on Verizon cellular, I do not see any local AT&T server anymore. The only major carriers listed are Comcast and Sprint (plus other local carriers).

[Thunderbird] Does Anyone know how to fix "Server Error" with AT&T

So here's what I'm up against, every time I try to get my AT&T email i get a Server error please try again later error. I have several email accounts and it started on different ones at different times. Currently I only have one working account out of 8. AT&T has been totally useless with this. I did create a secure mail key for the primary account which worked for over a year but now that has quit. I've deleted that key and created a new one but still no luck. Some of my other accounts I can't create a mail key for because at some point they apparently got divorced from being alternate or sub accounts under my main account, so I can't even get to the AT&T settings for those accounts. Right at the moment my Primary account is my main concern, lost all of my business email's. Server settings are inbound.att.net Port 995 SSL/TLS Normal Password

[AT&T Fiber] Static IP requires onsite tech?

Hey folks, I've been messing with homelabbing over the months and I thought static IPs might scratch an itch so I chatted up att and the rep said I would need an onsite tech to come inside my house to setup the static IPs? I thought this was curious. Can anyone familiar with this process comment? Also I'm bypassing the bgw210-700 to a pfsense router - I did find several pages referencing bypass and static IPs so I'm assuming it's doable but nothing terribly in-depth so I'm not convinced I can figure it out - would love comments on this as well.

How is the security of Pace's 5268 firewall? Would having that with Windows Defender Firewall be great? Or should you still have something like Norton or Mcafee and Pace's 5268 firewall? Thanks.

AT&T Access Plan

What is the upload speed on the AT&T Access pm when you live in a AT&T Gigabit Fiber area? Do they still install old 10mbps/768kbps ADSL even though the area is VSDL/Fiber or do they use the technology available to them? You’d think they would provide 10mbps/10mbps. I don’t think it’s possible for anyone going to school from home to use zoom with only 768kbps upload especially if you have more than one student that needs to virtually go to school at the same time.

[Modem] AT&T letter_No more firmware updates Pace 5031NV - takeaway?

$

Searches on DSLR found no posts on the recent letter AT&T sent. Without explanation, it said, "We want you to know...no longer provide...updates to gateway firmware - Pace 5031." "You will no longer receive...security patches, optimizations & improvements." "But internet will still work." No mention of options, except they offer McAfee powered Internet Security Suite. Not useful for Linux. What's the take away here? Keep using the modem & don't worry? I use it as a modem w/ Linksys WRT54GL router behind. Or "ask" for a more recent one to replace the unsupported one? It works fine, but as they say, no updates, even for critical security bugs. What about the $10 / mo "internet equipment fee," when I paid for & own the Pace 5031, and I'm on month to month service? Has anyone - or any organization - challenged that forced extra fee (seems hi for what it probably covers). Especially if they own their modem /gateway & don't need "help" from AT&T? I've never found a TOS for the "internet equipment fee" charge. The $10 charge appeared one month with no explanation or a request that I agree to it. If I saved $10 a month, after only a few yrs, I could replace every bit of communication wire, jacks & buy a few modems from them. Sounds very much like old days when you had to lease THEIR landline phone - forever. It was illegal to use 3rd party phones, until someone (gov't?) made them drop that. My parents must've leased same, black, wall phone for 30+ yrs. Thanks for any input.

[AT&T Fiber] Service drops for a few minutes , several times a day, randomly

$

Hey guys, I'm running ATT Fiber 1 Gbps.. Had it installed back in 2017 in the 35242 zipcode area (if anyone works in this area by chance). It's running off a Pace 5268AC gateway with an ASUS 88u handling the router duties. This setup had no problems, disconnects, etc for a couple of years. Then the last 6months-1yr it has had these random, often daily and often multiple times per day, disconnects. Specifically the 5268AC will Drop the Service light, then Broadband light and after 3 to sometimes 10 minutes reconnect. Sometimes the Broadband & Service lights will do the whole flashing thing then reconnect within 5-10 minutes. I'm quite adept with Cable/coax signals, and how to access and interpret them at the Pedestal to demarc to outlet and modem. However, with GPON Fiber the access seems limited with what little bit I've gone through the 192.168.1.254 GUI (with the diagnostics, limited logs, etc). Basically I believe I'm rather limited in testing specific nm dB figures at the ONT in the garage (any loss).. any transmission errors etc from the Terminal to PFP etc. With cable I could do a lot of that troubleshooting without the often entry level technician to be dispatched who would replace modems and hope for the best until a more qualified technician was elevated with repeated calls of the same problem (esp. intermittent) to track down the issue in the system. So, I assume this is probably not an uncommon issue. Therefore, what should be troubleshot, or otherwise have done to get the problem resolved with minimal wasting of time or me and/or technicians if needed? What are the typical issue(s) that cause this? You get the idea. I appreciate your help in educating me in troubleshooting and resolving an intermittent connectivity issue. Again, AT&T Fiber 1,000/1,000 service to a PACE 5268AC gateway. Intermittent relatively short disconnects a few times per day, though sometimes days between disconnects.

XR300 Bufferbloat issues and IP passthrough

I keep getting ramdom speed test results. most of the time I get "A" bufferbloat score. then the next test I get a score of "B" my scores change all the time and never really stay consistent. Just seeing if I can tweak a few settings in the network and get this fixed. I'm also noticing packetloss in COD: Coldwar when playing. most of the time it's only 1% but today I've seen it hit 20+ I have at&t Fiber and speeds run at almost 1GBPS DOWN/UP XR300 nighthawk ROUTER Modem provided by ISP BGW210-700 in IP PASSTHROUGH mode Since I can't use my own modem, I shut off the wifi on the at&t bgw210 and enabled ip passthrough, turned off packet filter and firewall as well If anyone could help with any info on better settings or a fix that would be great. My most recent test results on DSL speed test

How to get att to fix box across street.

$

My family and I live out in the country and one day this late summer a farmer mowed the ditch across the street and took the internet splice box down. Internet went in and out so I called att and a tech was sent to fix the internet and then put something over it. The tech said he would put a ticket in to have someone come fix it and put a new box up and it is has been 6 months roughly and att has neglected to put a replacement box up. As you we are entering winter and the line lays exposed how do I get att to come fix this? I am worried the rain and snow will make the line go bad. Sorry for the long story.

[AT&T Fiber] How to read ONT log? My fiber connection drop randomly recently

$

My bypass setup is pretty simple, ER-4 -> ONT. But recently the connection is dropping randomly sometimes. In one day, the connection is on and off more than 30 times in one hours. Most of the time the connection will turn stable automatically by itself. But I have to power cycle ONT and ER-4 in some situations after the connection dead forever. And I only observe such a problem recently. (I was very very solid for months.)

Google launches 2Gbps service in Huntsville and Nashville...

https://www.engadget.com/google-rolls-out-2-gbps-fiber-service-in-huntsville-and-nashville-101025967.html $100/month as opposed to the $70/month cost of 1Gbps. However, speeds are not symmetrical. It's 2Gbps down and 1Gbps up. They also go on to say that all markets that Google Fiber is currently in should see the upgrades by early next year. Might explain why AT&T is pushing the 320 RGs right now.
