[AT&T Fiber] How to submit reverse DNS for static ip?

$

So I just modified my static ips to be from 32 to 64 for $5 extra ($35 extra for 64 static ips) and so far, I've had success with AT&T representatives be very clear to me that I don't need a technician to get everything accounted for. Initially, when getting my initial range of static ip blocks, I had to request from chat support something to the effect of, I reset my gateway by accident and I need the info all over again, and the chat agent gladly gave it to me without apprehension. Quick question. I want to setup a mail server to get away from prying eyes (google etc. though I know that can be nigh on impossible). How would I be able to set up MX records and request reverse dns / PTR records for my static ip block?

Slow AT&T Internet

We’ve had AT&T Internet for the last dozen years and for the most part it’s been reliable usually within 90% of our advertised speeds (plan is 50Mbps down/10Mbps). However I’ve noticed only the last night or 2, the download speeds from about 6pm-10pm PT have gone down to 5-10Mbps with the ping time increasing from 20-25ms to about 45-50ms. I do have the Orbi WiFi RBR 50 router with the two RBS50 satellites properly configured behind the Pace 5268AC residential gateway (RG). I’ve rebooted the the RG & the Orbi WiFi system by that didn’t do anything. Is this just a case of everyone coming home at work around the same time and overloading AT&T’s residential internet? I know we aren’t doing heavy streaming around this time. This is in Carlsbad, California.

[AT&T Fiber] Amazon Prime Video and Audio Sync

For some time now, the audio sync while watching Amazon Prime movies is 1 to 3 seconds off. I have not made any changes to my LG smart TV (Hardwired Ethernet) or audio equipment. I have no issues with any other service or devices that I am aware of. I have seen this morning that my fiber modem was upgraded. Has anyone else had this issue? Its so bad now I cannot watch Amazon Prime movies. ARRIS BGW210-700 stopped negotiating 1 gig on the wired ports

$

I have used AT&T Uverse fiber for about a year now. On the 300 plan, I was getting over 400 up and down consistently. Recently, I noticed the speed test was now capping at just under 100. After a little testing around, I realized the network cards are now only negotiating 100 instead of 1GIG. I tired forcing both ends (computer(s) and router ports) to I gig full. Computer doesn't see any network in that state (no network cable message) on computer. Set them back to either 100 full or auto-negotiate, and it connects again...at 100. This issue happened to both my wired computers at about the same time. I checked the network card driver, and it hasn't been upgraded in over a year. I even tried rolling back to the previous driver before that, as a test, and same condition applies. I'm pretty convinced a recent firmware push to my ARRIS BGW210-700 created this issue, as I mentioned before, the connection on both my wired computers ran at a gig for the last year. I haven't called it in yet, was just wondering if anyone here ever had this issue...is it common?

[VDSL] Sometimes Complaining Helps

Most of the time complaints about U-verse service fall on deaf ears but occasionally if you get a hold of the right person you get some action. We've been having problems on and off for quite a while. Unfortunately we only have paired VSL service, we keep getting promised fiber but never see it. Last week I got fed up with AT&T and sent a letter to President. It must've got to the right person because I had all kinds of action happening at the end of last week. Finally Monday I had one inside tech, 2 line techs and a manager working on it for 4 or 5 hours. They went to every aboveground box between my home and the box that is fed fiber. Miracles of miracles, since that time everything has been perfect. The attached screen capture is from 3 days of service. I haven't seen signals that good in 8 hours anytime in the past. Just shows what they can really do if they get pushed into a corner!

High Packet Loss

Been working on speed issues with ATT for a few weeks now. I have narrowed down the issue to high packet loss that appears around 6pm nightly. I have attached my results from a regular 8.8.8.8 ping. I have talked with ATT multiple times via phone, their techs are no help and stand by "we don't have an issue". These ping results are the same from both wireless and wired devices as well as a direct ping from inside the ATT gateway. Looking for any suggestions before I dump ATT and move back to Spectrum. Thanks in advance.

Fiber outage connection

I came from spectrum gig cable internet, it would have small outages here and there. But never for long and the internet would be up in about 5 minutes from reboot. I haven't had a specific internet outage with fiber yet, but sometimes the power goes out and when it does the internet doesn't want to come back on. 2 days ago it was off for close to an hour before I could get it back on. Why does it take so long to reconnect?

AT&T TV box... buggy?

$

So i grabbed an AT&T TV box for cheap on eBay (this is probably the real problem here) just to play with (mom comes over and well having a remote with buttons is just better - and it has the same "channel number" system as DirecTV and she knows that) since I know it'll work with my grandfathered intro DirecTV Now rate. Anyway, after logging in it did an AndroidTV update, but I notice the box lags out like mad and randomly the AT&T TV app itself will crash. Anyone else have any issues with the software on these boxes? It seems as AT&T simply did not order enough RAM in these things for them to function properly, and the software is too bloated for the amount of RAM available?

BGW-210: anyone else having their LAN connections drop recently

What I observed: I have had ATT fiber for 4 months, and it has not has any issues. I am using the BGW-210 as the router, an ethernet cable through the carpet to a gigabit switch, and from the switch to 2 computers, and 2 routers are set to access point mode and hung off it. The wired internet started going down. Eventually I turned the radios back on inside the BGW-210, and I noticed that 2 computers connected just fine via wifi -automatically even when the internet goes down. This has happened at least 10 times in the last week, around when it started. What I did: I systematically started removing components until I was left with the following: fiber modem -> long ethernet -> BGW210 -> ethernet* -> computer NIC*. I then tried a different ethernet cable for the one between the BGW210, and a USB gigabit adapter instead of the inbuilt NIC. I also reset the BGW210 back to the default settings, then only set the wireless SSID and password and nothing else. No difference - randomly, about twice a day, the ethernet connection drops. My computer auto-switches to wifi, and windows says there is no connection through ethernet. If I disable the wifi to force it to use ethernet, there is no internet. I also found if I disable the network adapter and restart it, the connection returns. This is true, again, for 2 different network adapters of completely different types. (one is built into the motherboard and made by realtek, the usb one is ASIX) What I suspect is the cause: a forced firmware update to the BGW210 that has caused this bug. Any ideas of what else to try? Update: I checked, am on 2.8.7. So it's probably not the router firmware. But if it's not the firmware, what could it be...

BGW320 Reboots

My BGW320 has been rebooting itself about every 7-10 days. Prior to the reboot it seems to be working just fine, and immediately afterwards it works just fine. There's no useful information in the device status after the reboot and the firmware version has stayed at 2.8.4 since the day I got it. I wondered if it was heat related but the device feels pretty cool to the touch (even on the top where it vents, it's barely warm). Networking load wise, I would say we are a fairly low/medium usage household for the most part. Has anyone else seen this? If so, any ideas why? I hesitate to call support about it as I'm sure it'll be a fiasco and I don't feel like playing the swap the gateway game.

[AT&T Fiber] Catch-22 Situation with Intermittent Connection Prob

$

There was an outage of the Gigafiber service in the Raleigh/Durham Area as Tuesday was changing into Wednesday (about 12:20 am). Apparently it only lasted about 25 minutes but ever since I’ve hand a bunch of “mini-outages.” The connection drops for from a few seconds to a very few minutes. On my iPad Pro, they are just long enough that the device switches to another wireless network that I have. This makes it very difficult to do anything with the computer because of the frequent network switching. The Catch-22 comes in when I try to get technical support from AT&T. If I call the 888-number, the robot goes through the stock tests it does and insists that I have a good connection that’s running at 940 Mbps each way, tells me there too busy because of a non-problem (in it’s view) and hangs hung on me. OK, so I try to do a chat session with another robot. Because the connection keeps dropping, the whole thing usually freezes up because my device (iPad, workstation, whatnot changes networks in the middle of things. I haven’t been able to my network that uses the gigafiber connection. This is exceedingly irritating! Does anyone have a support number that is answered by a human or any ideas for fixing this? I have powered cycled the router/gateway and the modem (little box with two green and one blue light attached to the wall and connected to router/gateway with RJ-45 patch cable. Has not made any difference. Edit: router/gateway is BG-210.

eMail Issues with BellSouth.net Account

I spend 2 hours on the phone with ATT support because my email service stopped working. They had me set up a secure password and we tried all kinds of different server settings but nothing would work. We were able to get Outlook to download emails but I could not send or synch. Now I am on with their higher level of support and they will help me for $49. So let me get this straight. I did nothing to my PC or email and my email stopped working. ATT claims Microsoft made some change that I did not authorize. Must be nice. I guess Microsoft > ATT

Well, get ready for another price increase for TV if you have service with AT&T. Both DirecTV and U-verse TV are seeing increases starting in January. I have U-300 service and according to the article, there's a $9/mo. increase coming for that. https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/att-will-raise-directv-prices-in-january-2021/
