[AT&T Fiber] Added Luxul Router & now no internet on WiFi

$

My customer switched to AT&T fiber and we needed to connect to his existing Luxul router, (also tried two other new Luxul routers), since the AT&T modem/router combo isn't strong enough to cover the large home. After four frustrating days we still have no internet over the wifi, (wifi signal is strong by the way), but the ethernet speed is very fast. Multiple techs from AT&T and Luxul have looked at everything and say it should work. There is one installation manager trying to help but the upper level management says they will not even look at it because we are using a "third party router". I was wondering if anyone has seen this bizarre issue. Thanks

Leaving uverse/dsl unplugged while away

I've lost two uverse modems to lightening this year so far.. So i'm wondering, If I where to unplug the phone line to the modem when I leave the house, will there still be a signal from the Vrad/RT that will alert any field techs that there is actually service on that line? I just don't want to come home and find that someone used my pair on a new install or repair. Is this a problem/possibility? Trying to reduce modem replacements.. I donno why the lightening after nearly 10 years decided to start nailing our lines this year.. Probably due to 2020 being 2020.... Any suggestions?

[AT&T Fiber] Pace 5268ac Bypass- Flawless until recently-Red Blinking Lights

I have been using the eap_proxy bypass method and have my Uverse ONT plugged into my Unifi USG3 to bypass the Pace 5268 gateway (which is on Wan2 of the USG). It has been working flawlessly without issue for about two years. Beginning about 6 months ago, the gateway would occasionally be flashing all LEDs in red, requiring a reboot to return to steady green (on broadband 1). When this happened, there was no loss in connectivity, so it was only an annoyance. However, the time between reboots has shortened, from months to weeks to now approximately every day or two. It does not result in a loss of connectivity (YET), but I worry it will if I am not here to monitor and reboot. Occasionally, it does not return to steady green at all, requiring 3-4 reboots in succession. Does anyone else have this issue, and is there a solution? Two thoughts I had: -Could the firmware on the 5268 be too old? Does this need to be plugged back in to the ONT occasionally to update before bypassing again? I would guess it has the same f/w from 2018. -The gateway is on Wan2 of the USG3 and configured per the instruction to have DHCP-none, thus it does not have an IP. I have noticed there is limited communication with the USG, for authentication. Would a fixed ip help? It is all alone on its own LAN2 network. Any help greatly appreciated.

So we have fiber conduit but no fiber lol

So I am almost at the end of the street. 2 houses over on my side and across have gigapower. It said IPDSL for me. I wanted to get the tech out anyways and he was very helpful. He talked to the fiber guys he knew and opened up the green box to show me. He said so I called a few people and I found out and saw that the street has fiber conduit run but it has nothing in it. It just stops at the end of street for now. He said it has strings and everything to extend it from one home to next. Showing me the orange conduit with string and cap on it. I just bought the house and found posts about trenching company trenching the yards in 2018 from owner right across from me that still doesn’t have fiber. He was told that it’s for AT&T. They assumed it was for fiber but they have yet to extend the cable and run through the conduit lol. So is this normal for them to take this long? He told me everything is done the last part is the easiest as they have to just loop it through. Why the heck would AT&T trench the conduits and forget to do the easy part lol

AT&T Uverse Internet DNS Issues?

I've had Uverse Internet (50 Mbps) in the Cleveland suburbs now going on 5 years and have generally had a great experience with little in the way of any issues. I'm running a Netgear 7900P in access point mode behind a Pace 5268AC gateway (full DMZ enabled). I'm on the 192 DNS. Over the past week I've started to experience what seems to be an almost daily DNS issue that requires me to reboot my gateway. I've done a factory reset on both my gateway and router, but still just about every morning I wake up to web pages not loading and having to reboot the gateway. I've also tried running my Netgear 7900P in router mode, however that just seems to make the issues worse. It seems odd that a gateway could just go "bad". Any ideas why this issue might be presenting itself all of a sudden?

[AT&T Fiber] Any way to bypass att modem using ASUS GT-AC5300?

Was curious if anyone else was using this specific router with att 1000 plan. If so, the options in the advanced settings have all sorts of options that look like could be use to "simplify" bypassing the modem. Don't really wanna shell out $135 for an USG. But I will if I have to if I can't get around their modem. Or if anyone else that uses this router, what were your go to settings? I tried putting the router in AP mode and it significantly improved my wifi speeds and kept them consistent.

[AT&T Fiber] WPA_Supplicant certificates bypass NOT working on Edgerouter 4

$

Hi All, You may remember that I wrote up detailed instructions last year to get the Ubiquiti USG3 working once you have the extracted certificates from the rooted AT&T gateway. Here are the instructions: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32391619- I picked up the Edgerouter 4 and I'm trying to get this to work. The good news my instructions work perfectly when using Firmware v1.10.11. However, if I upgrade to version 2.x.x, the bypass stops working. As soon as I downgrade back to v1.10.11 and the router reboots, I'm back in business! I run the following command to check my logs: Xtail -n 50 -f /var/log/messages Below is the output I get. Does anyone know what these errors mean and how I can fix them? I would really like to be on the v2 firmware: X admin@ubnt:~$ tail -n 50 -f /var/log/messagesSep 3 05:50:14 ubnt kernel:Sep 3 05:50:14 ubnt NSM[689]: NSM-6: 10 MBSep 3 05:50:14 ubnt NSM[689]: NSM-6: 1000 MBSep 3 05:50:14 ubnt NSM[689]: NSM-6: 1000 MBSep 3 05:50:14 ubnt NSM[689]: NSM-6: 10 MBSep 3 05:50:14 ubnt NSM[689]: NSM-6: ioctl(1) returned illegal value(0). One other last thing. When I run a speed test, I do not get Gigabit upload. I get between 600Mbps - 700Mbps. Now don't get me wrong, that's not bad at all, but I do use my upload quite heavily. As soon as I plug my AT&T gateway back in and run a speed test from the same server, I immediately get around 950Mbps down and up. I was able to get the 950Mbps up once or twice with the ER-4, but now I can't get it at all. Again, if I plug my AT&T gateway in, I get the full 950Mbps every time. No dial tone after number change - POTS over fiber

Basically had a telephone number change order in place with AT&T Alabama, the old number disconnects with appropriate intercept and the new number rings active including the ACR feature. The problem is now there is no dial tone on the ONT despite multiple reboots. AT&T repair is saying next week is the earliest they can send an outside line tech. But I don't feel an outside technician would be able to help. We are still accessing internet from the same ONT, but repair insists there is a "short" in the fiber line from the RT OLT to my home :uhh:. Any techs know if there is anything I can do or tell repair to look into the issue from a CO standpoint? I am unsure how our line actually enters the DMS-100, but I would imagine there is some intermediary system that associates our ONT with a line card. I feel it might be a provisioning issue that someone might be able to quickly address if they knew there was an issue. I don't want to be without a phone for a week or two. We only have AT&T WiFI calling inside our house, and it doesn't work reliably.

Hello, the past 2 weeks ive received random de-syncing on my adsl2 uverse line. Not sure what the problem is as the lines do sync, but they dont connect. Its typically line 1 that syncs really quick and line 2 that will sync with low kbps numbers, but the snr and line attenuation numbers look good from what i can tell. Anyway to find out?

[AT&T Fiber] Can I add a wall plate for my fiber?

My install was completed yesterday. The tech didn't have a long enough fiber cable to go from the slack NID to the gateway, so he just ran "aerial fiber" and terminated both ends himself. This seems OK to me in the slack NID (since that's in an enclosure), but I'm concerned about the fiber inside the house being so fragile... this could easily be destroyed by a kid, cat, etc. Is there some kind of "fiber jack" I can mount in a receptacle that has an SC/APC* passthrough (something like this?), and then run a more substantial 6' fiber patch cable with SC/APC* connectors on both ends? Or would this degrade the signal too much? (For reference, my "Tx Power" is shown as 21.0 and "Rx Power" as 0.36). * or whatever the correct fiber connector is Thanks for any insight!

Very slow speeds on Fiber 1000

5 years now I have paid for 1000mbs down and haven't even gotten close to that speed. Over the years the speeds have constantly going in a downward trend. My current speed tests say around 100/345 wired with nothing else on the network. When I first signed up I used to see 600mbs down. The gateway's internal speed tests show 874/900 which is baffling to me. Then I do a speed test anywhere else (dsl reports, speedtest.net, speakeasy, fast.com, etc) and it shows 100/340-360. I just replaced my BGW210-700 with a brand new one that AT&T sent and there is no difference in speeds. I have been trying to scour the forums for ideas on what could be wrong. The only thing I came up with was someone said the ONT box needs replacing. I have a field technician coming on Thursday. Is there anything else he should be on the lookout for?

[AT&T Fiber] Is there anything inherently wrong with this setup?

I have the fiber 100 plan with AT&T. The RG speed test shows about 130 mbs up and down which is fine for what i use the internet for. I connected my Linksys WRT1900AC to one of the ethernet ports on the RG. I put the Linksys in auto DHCP mode and have about 32 devices connected to it using 192.168.2.xx. My desktop wired to the Linksys gives me a speed of about 118 mbs up and down. I can access the RG from my desktop using 192.168.1.254. I use 2.4 and 5 wifi with the Linksys with adequate speeds. I have the 2.4 and 5 wifi turned on in the RG with a couple devices connected to it using 192.168.1.xx.. All wifi sources have different names. Everything seems to be working fine. I had some double NAT issues with my Slingboxes and Plex, but solved that by opening up the same ports on both the Linksys and the RG. I'm not using any pass-through setup on the RG. It just seemed like an easy way to set this up when I installed it about 2 years ago and I already had the Linksys set up with the 192.168.2.xx domain. I don't see hardly any mention of this method on the forums. Everyone says use the pass-through method. Am I doing something wrong?

[AT&T Fiber] AT&T Fiber rollout strategy

Hello, I am sure other people have asked this but is there any strategy to where AT&T decides to roll out Fiber? I see fiber being installed around my area, but I hear it’s mostly due to new homes, and apartment buildings going in. We have 2-3 new neighborhoods being built next to us and I saw AT&T trucks outside. I stopped to ask if they were installing fiber, and they said no they are bringing regular VDSL2 to the new neighborhood. I don’t get what makes them decide where they want to install fiber and where not to. I currently live in a suburb of Detroit. Only thing I can get is Comcast, or 25mbps att service. Thanks.

looking at the internet 1000 fiber plan and i see there is a $10/month equipment fee but i already have a router that i bought a few months ago that should handle this plans speed. Will this router (RAX 35, below) work with the 1000 plan? Is it possible to remove the $10/month equipment if I would add my own modem to this router? if so, what modem would work well with my router and the 1000 fiber plan? https://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/wifi-routers/RAX35.aspx details: 2.4GHz AX: 2x2 (Tx/Rx) 1024/256 QAM 40/20MHz, up to 600Mbps 5GHz AX: 2x2 (Tx/Rx) 1024 QAM 160/80/40/20MHz, up to 2400Mbps Five (5) 10/100/1000Mbps—(1 WAN & 4 LAN) Gigabit Ethernet ports

[AT&T Fiber] No longer getting Gigabit upload speed with switch bypass

I've been using the same method for the last year, and nothing has changed. I have a a Netgear GS110EMX managed switch that I've been using for the bypass method. No matter what router I use, I have not been able to get gigabit upload speed. I'm located in Knightdale, so I use Duke University as my speed test server when using the Speed Test Windows app. As soon as I plug in the AT&T router and run a speed test, I get 950 Mbps down and up. I then plug in my router, and the upload speed drops back down to around 500Mbps. I have tried using these routers: 1. Ubiquiti Edge Router 4. 2. Asus-RT AX56u router. (I tried Merlin firmware too.) 3. TP-Link Archer AX50 router. It doesn't matter what router I try, NONE of them get Gigabit upload speed. Only after connecting AT&T router I get the full speed. I was even using the ER-4 router with the certificates method earlier this week, and even then I still couldn't get full gigabit upload speed. I thought for sure this would work. Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

[AT&T Fiber] Eap_Proxy in front of UDM Pro

I finally got my static IPs and bypass to run on my Edgerouter 4 I’m just having trouble with getting IPV6 to pass through to it I’m unsure of how the Edgerouter does it, but when I plug a computer into it, it works fine and IPV6 works (probably something to do with router advertisements). But when I pul it into the wan of my UDM Pro and set it to use the static address the Edgerouter it giving it it doesn’t work. Haven’t tried setting up a dhcpv6 server, but it seems that the UDM Pro would be able to get the prefix from something like that. Unsure of the best way to get this to work.
