Uverse app remote control function accessing settop boxes
Both iOS and Android have implemented additional permissions to access WiFi home network. In the specific case of Uverse, I cannot connect either iOS or FireOS devices to Uverse receivers if doing so connected to an Access Point on the home network. In the example here, using an Orbi RBK50. Looking for hints or tips to get it to work if at all possible.
The only way presently I can control the settop boxes with my iPhone or Fire HD tablets is to enable wifi on the att gateway and then switch the devices to the native WiFi radio. Ideally I would leave the gateway radios off and rely solely on the Orbi.

Pace 5268AC - why can't I whitelist the 5 GHz radio?
In the advanced wifi options, MAC filtering seems to only apply to the 2.5 GHz radio. Why is that?

[AT&T Fiber] Bypass AT&T RG using (ASUS) router?
searching through dslreports and online gets lost of bypass requiring a dummy switch, but https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32198562- mentioned it's possible to use the router itself for bypass. if I only have AT&T RG and a home router (the same or similar router as that post), would I be able to do the bypass or I must have a third switch/router to do the bypass?
would it work if I connect RG to one of the LAN port of the router?
my understanding is that extracting certs definitely requires something like Ub EdgeRouter to be useful, so that's outside of home router territories

[AT&T Fiber] Fiber install
I am having AT&T Fiber (internet 1000) installed and on the website it says it may take up to 4 hours for install, for those who have had AT&T install fiber does it really take this long or is this an estimate for the worst case scenario? Thanks for any input you may have.

Bypassing gateway with ERL and eap_proxy question.
Does it matter which gateway (Pace 5268, NVG599, BGW-210, etc) is used if using an Edgerouter and the eap_proxy bypass method? I have an install coming up and would request a specific gateway if it is required.

No Santa Tracker this year?
The kids have enjoyed this for the last couple years and we went looking for it over the holidays only to not find the channel. I could only find one reference on AT&T forums that suggested it's not coming back to U-Verse this year, but a lot of topics were locked behind signing in and I didn't bother with that. Can anybody confirm this?

HD not included in U300?
I just downgraded from U450 to U300 and found that I no longer have any HD channels. According to the U-verse TV Package comparison at https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/u-verse-tv/KM1045171, HD is included in all packages except U-basic. I've been on the line with customer service for about an hour arguing this, they keep telling me I need to add the HD tech fee for $10/month. Why does the package comparison show "HD included" when it really isn't?

[AT&T Fiber] Another ATT Gateway Bypass Thread
Hi All,
There is enormous amount of information and I've been reading for a few hours on bypassing the ATT gateway, versus DMZ+, IP Passthrough ect. I have the gigapower and the Pace 5682 gateway. I currently do not have static public IP but am open to paying for it if it helps
I have ordered a Edgerouter 4 that is to be delivered tomorrow. I am an engineer and I do software amongst other things, but I am not a systems or networking engineer. I don't do any CLI with networking equipment, but I do CLI other things so I'm sure I can pick it up quicker than most. My questions are:
1) I am planning to start with the dumb-switch bypass as it sounds very straightforward, however, I am concerned about having all of my outbound traffic reliant upon a cheap $25 switch. Will it drop or mis-manage packets? I have the switch already and a small UPS I plan to use. My priority is mostly in online FPS gaming, in that I'd like to keep latency and packet loss (mis-management) low with an Open NAT.
2) Assuming long-term I'd like to have something better than the dumb-switch approach, I'm seeing options to use a managed switch and swap VLANs, but I've also seen posts about getting certs from a NV gateway and deploying the authentication in some routers. Would I be able to do this with the Edgerouter-4? I couldn't find any hits for this hardware combo and cert spoofing.
3) Any reason to buy a static IP and put the gateway into some sort of passthrough mode. There are some videos on Youtube and such that hint at this being a "true-bridge" but then there are comments that suggest this is not. My gut says going through the gateway in anyway is a loss, but again, I only know enough to be dangerous and can't prove this out on my own.

ATT 100Mb new installation
Hello.
I just moved to an apartment with no fiber however ATT can provide upto FTTP 100Mb service which I ordered a few days ago because I was told Fiber will be installed a couple of months according to the sale rep and I wonder if I messed up because I've read Sales rep with tell you any thing to get their service and I'm really debating if I should cancel the installation and just go with comcast instead until ATT install fiber.

182-843-8521
182-843-8319
182-843-6923
182-843-2511
182-843-1021
183-843-5222
182-843-5463
182-843-8638
182-843-6643
182-843-9032
182-843-4879
Anybody got any ides what is happening here, or how I can stop it?

Details - changing "primary email" address on AT&T internet
Specifically on changing the User ID or "primary" email address (way back, called Master).
The address that any sub accts use as their SMTP outgoing address.
If you look at the message source of email sent from any AT&T sub acct, it shows the Primary addy for "return-path."
I talked to an agent about this - a while back. He was wrong about several other things, so I forgot about it.
I don't use their email much, but way back, the sales rep suggested I used my 1st initial & last name for the primary acct.
I want to know what unwanted stuff might happen if I change it. They apparently now have a way to change it from your internet acct profile.
There's conflicting info in their article about changing it, and a "tip" once at the "change user ID" spot inside your MyAT&T profile.
The article said.
you can create a new one or use one you already have as your user ID. ...
Select, "I already have one if you have AT&T email, then follow the prompts. Your user ID password will then be the same as the email password you enter."
Clearly indicating to use an email addy from the AT&T family.
But inside the profile, clicking "change my user ID (where it shows the acct w/ my last name as current "user ID"), they caution:
"It's really better to use an address that's NOT AT&T."
Clearly contradicting the article.
I posted the question on their forum almost a week ago - no answers, not even an AT&T employee.
Oh, I could call or chat w/ "support" but after years, I know there's user ID address is from AT&T or not, I just want to abandon the one w/ my real name.
Besides, someone w/ my 1st initial & same UNCOMMON last name had the address (I've had it > 20+ yrs), or use it as a fake address - it's a spam magnet.
Thanks for any tips.

[AT&T Fiber] Relocate ATT ONT to Outside
I didn't realize when I was building my home that my builder has a structured wiring closet so I didn't have at&t put the ont in the closet. I had them put it in the garage. The builder ran two cat5e outside for internet and home phone. Does at&t still put ONTs outdoors if not how can I go about this situation and how much would it cost? Thanks!
