So we have AT&T 25/5 as our backup for our AT&T dedicated circuit.
We are trying if we can upgrade to a 45/6 profile speed.

[U-verse Voice] Can anyone get into the telephone portal today?
I wanted to add another number to my Uverse voice home phone blocklist today. Clicking on the "GO TO HOME PHONE PORTAL" under the "MANAGE HOME PHONE" box does absolutely nothing, like it isn't even programmed to do something. I tried Firefox on two different systems. One Linux, and another windoze. Both with the same lack of results.

500 gigs vs 1 tb
I just had U-Verse TV installed last week. I have 1 gig fiber internet. They only gave me a 500 gig DVR. What can I do about that? My understanding was that all fiber customers were to get the 1 tb dvr.

[AT&T Fiber] ATT "Bypass" using a public IP block and cascaded router.
I know many of you are trying to use your own router instead of ATT's gateway, and are unsatisfied with their DMZ+ feature.
Some of you used the managed switch bypass, or the eap forwarding script. But this does not work if you have U-verse TV service.
This guide will show you how to set this up using an Edgerouter as an example, for any other router just make sure it supports adding a static route and configuring NAT.
There is another option, purchasing a static IP block and using the ATT Gateways cascaded router feature. More specifically, you can get a /29 for $15 with a $10 credit.
Okay one first thing to mention, ATT has to send a tech out with your /29 written on a piece of paper.Yeah, that's ATT for you.
They will give you the router address and subnet mask, this is the format used when following their instruction to have the R/G manage the /29.
You will need to find the network address to use this method, just use http://www.subnet-calculator.com/cidr.php if you not know how.
Now on to the configuration
Step 1) Connect your router to the ATT Gateway, make sure DMZ+ is off and you can get a DHCP lease on your WAN.
Step 2) Give your router a static lease on the ATT gateway, and set the IP to static on your router WAN. You don't have to it exactly this way, but it's easier and will hopefully prevent conflicts.
[att=2]
Step 3) Navigate to Settings/Broadband/Link Configuration on the ATT Gateway, type in the network address you calculated and the subnet mask into the cascaded router section.
Next either type in your router's Local IP address, or use the dropdown to select it. The DHCP tab will now show it as cascaded.
[att=1]
Now on your router you should still see your WAN as having a local address, this is correct.
Step 4) Open your router's config, navigate to your route's section add a static route. The destination is 0.0.0.0/0, next hop is 192.168.1.254, distance is 1.
This will forward all external requests to the ATT router
[att=3]
Step 5) Go to NAT and create a new source nat rule. The outbound interface is your wan port, select "Specify address or port", enter an address inside the network you calculated earlier, and hit all protocols.
[att=4]
At this point everything IPv4 should work, I will cover IPv6 in brief next next.
To get IPv6 working, first make sure the checkbox is enabled in the RG.
Next for your wan interface, enable DHCPv6-PD and add a /64 prefix.
Add you lan interfaces, host-address is :1, prefix-id is ::, service is slaac.

[AT&T Fiber] Any way to bypass att modem using ASUS GT-AC5300?
Was curious if anyone else was using this specific router with att 1000 plan. If so, the options in the advanced settings have all sorts of options that look like could be use to "simplify" bypassing the modem.
Don't really wanna shell out $135 for an USG. But I will if I have to if I can't get around their modem.
Or if anyone else that uses this router, what were your go to settings? I tried putting the router in AP mode and it significantly improved my wifi speeds and kept them consistent.

and we use their VDSL service as a backup "don't worry appt our dedicated circuit goes to a different central office then our vdsl lol"
We asked one of the former tech if we are able to get a 45/6 profile and he said "why not? your line is good and since you got a bonded pair this should be easy"
But we just need another opinion

SFTP and rsync failures with Pace 5268AC DMZ+ 11.4.1.532484-att
This is a very recent problem, it started in the last few weeks. I believe it is related to firmware 11.4.1.532484-att that I got upgraded to.
I have a 5268AC modem that I have been running in DMZPlus mode for well over a year. It connects to my router running pfsense and then to the rest of my network.
I have backup jobs that connect from my home machines to a server on the internet and transfer files - either via sftp, rsync, or borgbackup.
Normal internet is working fine - I can run iperf3 to my VPS and speeds are great. I can run ssh shell connections just fine. Speedtest runs fine. I can open a VPN tunnel to my VPS and everything works great.
But when I use something as simple as SFTP to my VPS, the transfer starts and then when it hits a size of 32K it stalls and doesn't go any further. Same thing happens with rsync.
I did a wireshark capture. Looks like a normal SSH session for a while, you can see the file transfer start. Once it begins, after 32K of traffic or so, I get a stream of this:
1. client->server size 1454 client sends encrypted packet (last good packet)
2. server->client size 134 server: TCP spurious transmission
3. client->server size 78 TCP dup ack
4. client->server size 1454 TCP retransmission
And then repeats 2,3,4 over and over.
If I plug a laptop into another port on the 5268AC (i.e. a non-DMZ) everything works great. It is just the DMZ port.
I'm at a loss here, but I can't help but wonder if this is a similar issue to others having voice call issues with DMZ plus enabled.

[AT&T Fiber] Need help to get AT&T Fiber
I would like to order AT&T Fiber Internet service. The conduits run through my yard and service has been "available" for order for almost 5 months. Neighbors on both sides of my house have the service. But I can't get it. My address doesn't show as available in the database. I have talked with at least 6 sales people by phone, and been told all sorts of hilarity including that I don't know my own address. Yet, no one will help me. I cannot get any success in getting someone to research the issue.
I stopped in to an AT&T Reseller store and worked with a manager there. I sat with him while he looked in the AT&T system with the same results. I sat with him as he called AT&T and got a response that 'the customer is not providing a valid address' and no further assistance offered.
I believe I have sorted the cause of the issue, but the fix is still unknown. I found two other addresses in the neighborhood that randomly show unavailable despite the neighbors having service. My house and those others have one common denominator. We have a legally protected address. My hypothesis is that AT&T got their address list for the database from the Property Appraiser's office; my records are blocked by law due to the nature of my employment. The other houses are people who work in similar protected occupations. Seems very likely this is the cause of the problem, but how can I fix it? Who can I call?
I have never worked this hard to spend money. Anyone have a place to call or email for assistance? I really want to stop paying Charter/Spectrum money.

[AT&T Fiber] Questions regarding BGW210 and removing it replaced w PFSense
So, after weeks of reading and rereading, I have succeeded in extracting two certs and the mfg.dat from my BGW210 gateway by using a USB TTL. I am still having an issue with EAP authentication failures in WPA supplicant, however.
I am thinking I missed something simple that can be corrected by sharing the steps I took:
First, my setup:
ATT 1 gigabit fiber
Arris BGW210-700 (ATT issued)
My firewall appliance is the 6 port Protectli 6 port device
TPLink 24port fully managed switch (T2600G-28TS)
Initial:
Come out of LAN port 1 on the gateway going into the WAN port of a Protectli appliance (interface em0) and out of the appliance on LAN port (interface em1) to the managed switch.
Post Extraction:
Connect the ONT cable directly to the WAN port (em0) of the Protectli appliance.
Process:
(skipping extraction steps as I believe they are not relevant)
After extraction and decoding mfg.dat I am left with 3 files:
attroot2031.cer - CA Cert in DER binary format
attsubca2021.cer - Another cert in .der format
EAP-TLS_8021x[REMOVED CHARS].tar
The tar file contains 4 files of note: Another CA cert (Arris), Client cert, PrivateKey cert, and a wpa_supplicant.conf.
As per instructions, I extract the certs from the tar archive and move them to the Protectli appliance running PFSense. The wpa_supplicant file gets stored in /etc on the PFSense box.
Next, I adjust the mac address of the WAN interface in PFSense (em0) to be the same as the mac address referenced in the wpa_supplicant.conf file which mirrors the mac of the AT&T gateway... Lastly, before launching wpa_supplicant command line I edit wpa_supplicant.conf adjusting the referenced interface to em0 since the ONT connection from the wall is now plugged directly into this port on PFSense. The final edit to wpa_supplicant.conf is to update the references to the 3 certs mentioned earlier (CA cert (Arris), Client cert, PrivateKey cert) and I specify the full path when editing the certs.
My wpa_supplicant.conf:
ca_cert="/root/CA_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.pem"
client_cert="/root/Client_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.pem"
eap=TLS
eapol_flags=0
identity="XX:XX:X:XX:XX:XX" (this mac is the gateway mac from ATT device, entered as cloned mac in PFSense)
key_mgmt=IEEE8021X
phase1="allow_canned_success=1"
private_key="/root/PrivateKey_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.pem"
As you can see my certs are stored in the base home dir of the PFSense account.
WPA_supplicant command line:
/usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant -Dwired -iem0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
At this point, I switch back to PFSense GUI and initiate a lease renew while looking keeping an eye on the PFSense shell which is starting to give diagnostic info. After about 20-30 seconds I see 'EAP authentication failure' printed to stderr.
What you see here is literally everything I've done. I haven't tagged any interfaces with VLAN ids (remember reading this somewhere) or taken any other steps.
Any help would be forever appreciated.

[AT&T Fiber] Why Can?t ATT Fiber Supply A Gateway with No Wifi
Why can’t ATT fiber supply a gateway with NO wi fi?
ATT has no business trying to tell someone how to setup, run or manage their home router and wi-fi broadcasts. Things like bandwidth steering fo NOT work
I a weary of dealing with the constant bad firmware issues on the Pace 5268AC Gateway.
I had solid service on symmetrical Gig for over 2 years until this August when ATT pushed out bad firmware crippling the device.
To take the cake yesterday when I called in to request another replacement Gateway, The foreign CSR put me on hold and after 15’ hung up the line. I shortly got notifications that home security, thermostats and weather station were off line.
I come home to find that the individual had gone into the gateway without my permission and changed the specific SSID that drives my primary WiFi based services to another value that matched the other SSID and changed the broadcast channels.
I had chosen a personal password on the gateway different than the one on the back sticker so it is highly concerning that ATT subverted the password and got into my home network without my permission
I want a gateway period with NO WiFi so I can completely manage my own secure network without degradation of the poor packet handling performance of the PACE 5268
Why can’t ATT just authenticate and authorize to ONU?

Wired internet connection inconsistent on Dell laptop PC.
I speed test both of my PCs regularly. Both are wired to router. The desktop tests at >50 mb all the time. My laptop is very inconsistent. Sometimes it's >50 mb. but mostly it tests at 10-15 mb? I noticed after I test it, if I unplug & replug the cat5 cable, it will test at >50 mb. I have replaced the cat 5 cable, but that did not resolve the issue. The PC is 5 years old.
Can the network card be failing? Is it difficult to replace it?

How to determine if new subdivison has fiber?
So there is a new subdivision being built right next to the subdivison I am currently in. And I'm trying to figure out if the new subdivison is being wired for fiber, but the model home was just built, and the addresses are so new that they don't really exist on Google maps, etc. The fiber availability finder can't find the address.
But I do know that there are green boxes in front of every other house or so that say AT&T underground cable.
Does AT&T still lay DSL only lines in a brand new neighborhood? And is there some way to have these new addresses verified that fiber internet can be run to the homes? Chat support isn't that helpful.
Would it be possible to schedule a tech to come out to my house (which currently has fiber), but instead have him come check the new homes for this? (literally a minute away)?

[AT&T Fiber] Doing business with the mothership
I'm very vocal about not doing business with AT&T. I have their fiber, but I buy it through a reseller.
Many don't understand the difference, thinking that the final product itself is definition that I'm actually doing business with AT&T. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Not doing business directly with AT&T means you don't get caught up in their business dealings--like this:
https://www.theverge.com/2019/11/6/20952512/att-price-hike-cellular-mobile-share-value-plan
AT&T has a gift for wireless subscribers on many of its old Mobile Share Value data plans: it’s giving them an extra 15GB of “bonus” data — and it’s making them pay an extra $10 a month for that “bonus.”
It’s almost like the company is forcing people to move to a more expensive plan, only AT&T figured out a way to make that not technically true. Instead, it’s worded in a way that suggests the company is providing you with a SURPRISE BENEFIT that costs you money! It is quite literally an offer you can’t refuse.If you're comfortable dealing with the mothership that likes to pull crap like this, more power to you. But I have the choice not to, while at the same time getting their gigabit fiber service--which is a true win/win.
