I've noticed when using the Speedtest.net app on Windows laptop plugged directly into AT&T router, I consistently get 900-960 Mbps downstream and the latency remains good (sub 8 ms) during the Speedtest.net testing. I'm testing the latency via a continuous ping going to Google 8.8.8.8 during the Speedtest. However, when the Speedtest.net app on the Windows laptop plugged directly into AT&T router starts testing the upstream, it has brief spike to 1.4 Gbps and then ramps down to 980-990 Mbps and the continuous pings to Google ramp way up in latency to the 100-150 ms range during the test and then back down to sub 8 ms when the upstream testing stops. Is this because the Speedtest.net app is saturating the upstream and causing queuing delays in the AT&T router?

I only have internet. No TV. Ports 80 and 443 have been set up for a web server i have. This server worked fine with my old ISP (Mediacom). When scanning my public IP and port 80, i see it is open(which is good, it means the forwarding rule is working). If i turn said rule off for port 80 for the server and do another scan, then the port shows closed(as expected). Well when i do this test for port 443, the port is always showing closed. I have even disabled the firewall on the server to see if 443 will get out, and it never does. Can someone explain what ATT might be doing? Their chat support tried to get me to a "conectech agent" (who would have liked to charge me for their time).

So, I have taken the plunge and replaced my PFSense firewall with a Ubiquity USG. This is an affordable device, around $110 on Amazon, and is the perfect companion to Ubiquiti Unifi wireless access points and its controller if you happen to use any. For the same reason as "rockstar" did with his PFSense thread, I decided to open up a separate topic for those searching for information, without having to go through the "True Bypass" monster thread. The most difficult portion is the trimming of the .json file somewhere halfway. I spent a good 20 minutes on it, and the examples that were given on the site above were of good help. Remember: when you start following the guide above, you will eventually disconnect from the internet, so make sure you have all the sites open you want open, and have all the files you need before proceeding. Make sure you read every step, don't skip any. PROS: Latency decrease. As if the gigapower itself wasn't good enough, a ping to 8.8.8.8 has changed from 3-4ms to a solid 2ms. If you are further away from bigger datacenters, the latency decrease can actually be noticeable. Speed: Speedtests are the same, really.... 930/930 to 940/940, the maximum you can push through gigabit. No change. DPI: This is with deep packet inspection enabled on the USG, so you can really keep check to see where your data is going. This is actually a cool feature, it shows you exactly how much hundreds of applications take in data, ranging from Facebook to P2P/Torrent to Netflix to OneDrive to Speedtest.net to Gmail to online games, you name it, and all displayed in a userfriendly and accessible way. CONS: No decent IPv6 support yet. Ubiquiti is working on it, and current firmware has "alpha" support for it, but it will be coming soon. If you need IPv6 NOW, don't use this.... if you can wait a few months till Ubiquiti really has their IPv6 ironed out, we may be able to get it to work in a similar fashion. It may actually work now, I just haven't gotten around to really testing it yet. NEUTRAL: I have static IP's. I have them mostly "just because", for the geekness of it, to run servers etc.... but the reality is I managed to consolidate all those back to the one DHCP IP for now (which never changes anyways), so I can take my sweet time figuring out how to get them to work. I'm sure its not that hard, just will take some digging.

Have setup my BGW210 to fix the pfSense IP address and set passthrough to that IP. On my pfSense i don't get the BGW public IP, shows the 192 class C assigned to it. Is the passthrough on those BGW broke or there is some incompatibility with pfSense that someone is aware of?

Service was just installed as a backup connection due to working from home and mission critical applications are used for tele-medic. T says only 12meg is achicable. Modem sycs up to 24meg. Has anyone noticed that AT&T now charges an equipment fee for Fiber? I wonder if that starts getting charged if you ever need an RG replacement. Heard about it on Reddit.

I don't know quite how else to phrase it but on a fairly regular basis our television picture freezes momentarily (2 seconds +/-) and then continues. I know quite a few other people in the area are also having the same problem. I look at the statistics on my RG and everything looks fine there. Any other ideas what could be happening to cause this?

Getting some serious packet loss on my Fiber line tonight. And looking at the DSLR line monitor, latency to Virginia has doubled and it's erratic where it was solid before. Anyone else seeing this? Looks like it started earlier today, first latency spike was at 3 PM.

I was installed with a replacement IPH8010 the other day. I know the front panel lights on the IPH8010 are smaller and not as bright as on other DVR's. But this new 8010 (I had one before this) has lights that are extremely dim. In a dark room I can barely see them. My last 8010 was not like this. Does anyone know if there is a hidden menu or other tricks that will allow me to adjust and brighten these lights? The DVR works perfectly other than this. But my OCD is kicking in :) Thanks.

I got the inspiration from the Century Link forum for mapping availability of ATT Fiber in a particular area. The idea is to grab a box on google maps using two addresses (NE and SW) then get a list of addresses and pass that on to the ATT Fiber availability webpage. I’ve been gone from the Chicago place for about a week, and just happened to check in the modem to see if it’s had errors (a few devices went offline a few days ago for a bit while I was gone) I’ve noticed my line is no longer balanced but is giving my full 100/20 when on Ethernet (100.10/21) and seems to be working fine currently, it’s been a while since I’ve seen an unbalanced pair-bonded line and just want an opinion The line had similar stats/error logs (other than a re-train a week ago), and the 70/21 is about right for the WiFi from this 5268ac So essentially before I waste my time, should I even bother?

I have a Pace 5268 and 1 Cablebox connected via Coax. Yesterday on a whim I tried plugging in an ethernet cable and disconnected the coax, but nothing seems to have happened. I tried connecting to the router but http was timing out. I rebooted it, and went back to the living room and surprised to see the tv was working over ethernet. So now I want to try and proceed with messing around with my network some more. I have a mini m93 pc I installed PFSense on. So I guess for now I'd like some more information. if I do the dmz+ method will the cabletv still work If plugged directly into the Pace box's coax? Will it work if its on the Pace's ethernet? Lastly will it work if I plug the cabletv ethernet into my next router? Whether it pfsense or my asus ac66u? Small steps as plan to see how my network behaves under dmz+, then try the dumb switch swap to remove the Pace, and then eventually the PFsense box direct to the ONT. This cablebox was the thorn in my side but knowing it does work over ethernet has put some hope back into the mix. Also do the Pace ethernetports still work in dmz+ assuming devices have static IP's or i have dhcp running on a different device? And I believe iptv is what it uses which I think broadcasts and can jack stuff up so this will eventually lean to vlanning, plus I had to run a new ethernet line from where the box is to my main pc area, so was debating another line by itself for the cable box if needed to segregate things.

So, my mom is attempting to have uverse/dsl installed at her house (5mbps). But I see a problem that will probably cause issue.. The lines running up the hill to her house from the nearest pedestal are the older type and to top it off, the poles are way to distant apart for the newer lines to be dropped..... My question is.. What are the odds of them burying a line up the road for her so she could obtain service? In theory, they are supposed to come out tomorrow mid day. Is there a process to maybe have them either bury a line or at least let her qualify for fixed wireless if they can't/won't run the new lines to her house? She attempted the fixed wireless route first but they denied her due to qualifying for uverse internet (again, at 5mbps) Thoughts?

So I've been troubleshooting all week as to why after we upgraded our service to 300Mbs from 100 why multiple speed tests would always limit itself to about 96 down/up over Ethernet. After calling a tech they came and replaced the router and that didn't work and even tried to reset it. So I ordered the 210 router which is a newer model and setup everything and still having the same problem. I also checked the network drivers of control panel and the adapter showed up as 1GB instead of 100MB so I know it's compatible. Also logged onto the router itself and each of the 4 Ethernet ports are about to output 1000MBs in the full & half duplex. Been trying to solve this issue and I've run into a wall at the moment.

I'm using a 5268AC gateway with firmware 11.4.1.532484-att, and getting terrible Tmobile VoIP performance when in DMZ+ mode. I have a Ubiquity EdgeRouter 12 as my border router, and using Eero mesh wifi. If I use pinhole mode for my VPNs TMobile VoIP is rock solid. But as soon as I change the Pace to DMZ+ mode, calls drop, one way audio, and other VOIP problems immediately surface. Over on Reddit a user was saying this was a known problem. Pinhole is working for my two VPNs, so I guess DMZ+ isn't a "requirement" for me. But I'd prefer to control network access via my Edgerouter 12 and have it get my public address. Is there a solution to my problem or should I just stick with pinholes for my VPNs?
