Long story short... I'm looking to find out any info on the progress of gigapower being brought to Memphis, TN.
Please post all info and pics on this post.
Let's compare notes.

Issues with pfatt bypass
I followed the instructions but cannot get the script to load. I tried running it in a shell but it just outputs ngctl: send msg : File exists. Looks like ng_etf does not load and the nodes are not made. What did I miss?

BGW210 Firmware 1.9.14/15
Just after midnight today (Thursday, March 14th) my internet went down and when it came back up I saw that the firmware on my BGW210 upgraded to 1.9.14. Wonder what's new and changed?

ATT TrueBridge Mode for for Ubiquity Security Gateway (USG)
So, I have taken the plunge and replaced my PFSense firewall with a Ubiquity USG. This is an affordable device, around $110 on Amazon, and is the perfect companion to Ubiquiti Unifi wireless access points and its controller if you happen to use any. For the same reason as "rockstar" did with his PFSense thread, I decided to open up a separate topic for those searching for information, without having to go through the "True Bypass" monster thread.
During my research before purchasing, I came across this gem:
https://blog.taylorsmith.xyz/att-uverse-modem-bypass-unifi-usg/
It explains in clear steps what you have to do. The most difficult portion is the trimming of the .json file somewhere halfway. I spent a good 20 minutes on it, and the examples that were given on the site above were of good help.
Remember: when you start following the guide above, you will eventually disconnect from the internet, so make sure you have all the sites open you want open, and have all the files you need before proceeding. Make sure you read every step, don't skip any.
PROS:
Latency decrease. As if the gigapower itself wasn't good enough, a ping to 8.8.8.8 has changed from 3-4ms to a solid 2ms. If you are further away from bigger datacenters, the latency decrease can actually be noticeable.
Speed: Speedtests are the same, really.... 930/930 to 940/940, the maximum you can push through gigabit. No change.
DPI: This is with deep packet inspection enabled on the USG, so you can really keep check to see where your data is going. This is actually a cool feature, it shows you exactly how much hundreds of applications take in data, ranging from Facebook to P2P/Torrent to Netflix to OneDrive to Speedtest.net to Gmail to online games, you name it, and all displayed in a userfriendly and accessible way.
CONS:
No decent IPv6 support yet. Ubiquiti is working on it, and current firmware has "alpha" support for it, but it will be coming soon. If you need IPv6 NOW, don't use this.... if you can wait a few months till Ubiquiti really has their IPv6 ironed out, we may be able to get it to work in a similar fashion. It may actually work now, I just haven't gotten around to really testing it yet.
NEUTRAL:
I have static IP's. I have them mostly "just because", for the geekness of it, to run servers etc.... but the reality is I managed to consolidate all those back to the one DHCP IP for now (which never changes anyways), so I can take my sweet time figuring out how to get them to work. I'm sure its not that hard, just will take some digging.

Canceling service and signing up again
Hello everyone it's that time of the year again where promotions for Uverse and internet expire. I've been wondering if anyone has ever had their service canceled and had service installed the same day or next. I know it can't be under the same name or else one won't get those new customer goodies.
I want to have the least possible amount of "downtime/interruption".
Much appreciated, thanks!

Battery backup at VRAD?
Is there anyone to make them put some sort of battery backup at the Vrad, they used to have them,I have all my equipment on UPS/Generator and it stays on but as soon as a power outage is at the VRAD the connections drop and do not come on until power is restored, they used to have battery backup until about the last year or 2, it just seems like it was never maintained,is there a department that handles this? to make it worse im on a home business class line, you would think there is some sorta of backup a few hours even.

PFSense RG Bypass with High Availability
I have a cluster of 3 PFSense routers configured in a high availability configuration (each on their own hypervisors).
I'm looking to bypass the RG (the dreaded 5268AC) but the standard methods don't really work for me.
Right now, I have the ONT connected to the RG, the RG connects to a switch (Brocade VDX 6710), tags all the traffic on that port, which the PFSense routers then pick up and use to get an external IP address (only one PFSense install does this at a time, configured in failover mode).
I'm trying to configure this to work without the RG at all.
Any advice?

Fiber Connection Question
Hi Everyone. We have a business (little league baseball park) location in the middle of several neighborhoods. There are no other business besides this park in the area. There is no ATT fiber in any of the neightborhoods or on our road. About 6 months ago the fiber can and termination appeared in front of our baseball field entrance. Any reason beside business fiber this would be used for? I know the can could be for uverse boxes but the termination connection is what has me curious.

[AT&T Fiber] Way to find out if AT&T will infill fiber?
AT&T is installing fiber in Temple, TX. My neighborhood of over 100 houses is less than two years old and they are building the last 5 or 6 houses in the development now. The AT&T fiber build hits all the houses on three sides (the fourth side is commercial) but they bypassed our development.
Is there any hope AT&T will infill when they get the rest of the area complete? Is there any contact point in AT&T where I can follow up? Posting in "Research my address" on the AT&T site yielded a canned response that said nothing meaningful.

What Happened to the Uverse Phase Out?
Original Bellsouth Americast subscriber here who switched from Comcrap back to AT&T 3 years ago at my house in GA when AT&T finally upgraded the IFITL in our neighborhood to gigafiber. So far, I’ve enjoyed the service and it’s been stable with a relatively good value for the money in the U200 package. My only complaint is the limited OnDemand content. My promotion recently expired, but I managed to get it renewed for another 2 years into February 2021.
I am honestly kind of surprised the Uverse TV platform is still around, as I remember a few years ago, it sounded like it was being phased out. What’s the plan for UVerse TV, and do you expect it to be around much longer now that AT&T is apparently rolling out a IPTV box for full DirecTV service that can apparently be used with any ISP?

Directv, BGW-210, Orbi RBK50
We have fiber 100 and Directv select. So far so good but wifi is horrible on the gateway (2 story home, 1,900 sq ft.) We have the netgear Orbi rbk50 but I want to know what options I have when setting it up.
I know my one of my options is disabling wifi on the gateway and using the Orbi in AP mode but what are the downsides to it?
Edit: I really do not need any advanced network features, my main goal is just to have full wifi coverage around the home so the family can stop complaining.

ATT Fiber, Sophos UTM full gateway BYPASS SUCCESS!!
Update 3-29-2019. Full bypass achieved! See details https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32341301-
Update 4-13-2019 Use scripts in this post https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32357393- rather than the initial full bypass post.
Update 5-3-2019 Final (?) script update https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32379427-
------------------
First off this is something I'm trying to achieve. At the moment it's a huge work in progress.
The end goal is to be able to use the eap proxy (https://github.com/kangtastic/eap_proxy) on the utm box itself to authenticate the ONT to the gateway. The utm should then receive the public IP and manage all traffic between WAN and LAN.
This is roughly models after this thread - https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31900599-ATT-TrueBridge-Mode-for-for-Ubiquity-Security-Gateway-USG
So far the first limitation is utm does not allow vlan 0 to be defined in the UI. This is not entirely a deal breaker as it's possible to define it in the shell. My wan port is on eth1.
# vconfig add eth1 0
This defines interface eth1.0 to vlan 0 .
I think the next step would be to configure it for dhcp.
Then the interface for the ONT gateway needs to be defined similarly. Lets say that's on eth2.0 .
The proxy would handles the eap authentication. Things get more interesting from here. The utm already has wan configured at eth1. Somehow eth1 and eth1.0 needs to be bridged so traffic can pass.
That's as far as I get with the framework on how to make this work. Thoughts, suggestions, maybe someone has already implemented this in a different way?

AirTies 4920 Firmware 2.49.2.12.7084
Can anyone show me where I can find the 2.49.2.12.7084 version of the AirTies firmware? I am having an issue with my iPhone X and AppleTV (it will connect to wifi, but there is not connection) that a few of us have traced back to the last FW of AirTies.
Is there a way to steer traffic to the modem and bypass the AirTies? If I could flag 3 devices, my issue would be resolved for now.

Is AT&T Fiber with Passthrough (not bypass) better than cable?
Apologies for what may seem like a trivial question.
I'd like to know if AT&T Fiber in Passthrough mode (i.e. no bypass tricks) is better than cable.
I'm asking because while I realize fiber is typically superior to coax, your connection is only as good as the last mile and the gateways are notoriously bad (whereas with cable I can just use a "real" modem that supports bridging).

[AT&T Fiber] New install question
Hello about a week ago I got UverseTV 300 and Internet 300 installed and everything has been working fine. I have seen here a lot of people mentioning putting the gateway in IP pass-through mode. My question is, does this makes any difference?
What I did was turned off the wireless from the BGW210 and from one of the ports in the back of the gateway I ran a cable to my RT-AC68U into the WAN port of it and my router is taking care of the Wifi and routing in my house. The only odd thing I notice was that my router now has an assigned IP of 192.168.2.1 instead of the usual 192.168.1.1. I haven't notice any performance issues, my ping is usually around 7ms. Since this is my first time with At&t Fiber what are the advantages if any by doing the IP pass-through? Thanks.

[AT&T Fiber] Is small packet loss normal?
Per the attachment, im getting around less than 1% packetloss in each server over the last 30 hours. At one point during the night where it was a span of 3 hours. It was around 2% packetloss until the night passed and it averaged out to be less. Is this any concern or should I get it checked out? I have Fiber that was installed around December.

[VDSL] High latency / high ping / Slow download / Normal upload
( I selected VDSL group, as there was no VDSL2, which I am)
I was on INTERNET 100. All of a sudden yesterday 05/04, download speed and latency went to hell.
Download, as measured at modem, was about 20% lower, but speed on devices was horrid.
Ping times > 500 msec to various sites.
Tried restarting router ...no help.
Called support, and wasted 45 minutes, and finally got a tech dispatch. They kept saying everything looked good at their end.
Tech came out and tried all sorts of things....No help....Inside/outside testing done.
NO change UNTIL he lowered profile from 100/20 to 75/20.
Then all of a sudden things got better. Speed was great. Ping times were great. Wired and wireless speeds were great.
He also was at a loss for why? Speeds should be great, he said. I am 400 wire feet from VRAD, he said. Wiring from VRAD to the house was new, wiring to the router was new at install about 2 yrs ago.
Now, about 2 hrs after he left, speed and ping went to hell. About an hr after that, it came back. NOTHING on my end changed.
I now believe the changing from INTERNET 100 to INTERNET 75 and better results was sheer coincidence.
Thanks for 'listening' to me and any assistance you can offer!
Current router BGW210-700 . Firmware level 1.8.18
The tech did toy with changing out the modem...
Any other ideas/thoughts?

[VDSL] AT&T tells me different things about what is possible
I currently have POTS+ADSL, getting (on a good day) 6 Mb/s down and 0.5 up. I have POTS and an alarm system in a 7-year old house. I want to upgrade to VDSL so first stop was att.com where their configuratior said the best I could get is 18 Mb/s with a 1TB/mo soft cap. That's fine - a 3x improvement. And 18 Mb/s does not require two bonded pairs which makes internal wiring easy, basically a drop-in and repatch at the NID so that the alarm system is first on the phone line out of the modem.
But in talking to the AT&T tech who was looking into an outage last week, he said he saw no reason why, at my location only 500 ft from the VRAD I could not get the full 100 Mb/s. That would require a bonded pair according to what I read. That means two pairs all the way to the modem, which takes away the pair back to the NID for feeding to the alarm and other phones in the house.
But att.com did not offer me anything above 18 Mb/s. Any ideas why it would do that?

Fiber has been hanging off my telephone pole for 1.5yrs...
A year ago I had ATT stomping through my backyard hanging fiber on the telephone poles running behind our houses. I also received a door hanger telling me "ATT Fiber has arrived".
Since then I've been checking the ATT website to see if it was available to order, it still isn't.
I had a tech out for another ISP and he even noted it, asking why I wasn't going with fiber.
This is in Lakewood, OH.
Is there a number I can call to get a real update on when it might be available? The tier1 service desk has no idea.

Well, the honeymoon is over...
So, I got my Fiber service with TV installed on April 27 and today May 6th my service is down. The PON light is off and the alarm light is red, I called customer support and they don't know what it is, they did the usual turn off and turn on thing and nothing worked and they ended up scheduling a service dispatch for May 8th, so less than a month in and three days of downtime already. I had Spectrum before this and in 4 years I had them I had ONE day without service even when two hurricanes pass through here. Now I'm wondering if I made a mistake switching to At&t.
