Requested install date/time does not equal install date/time

Last week I signed up for gigapower online and requested install window of today in the morning. So today is install date... no one here. Call them up, they said the order is still pending and I have no install date/time. WTF? Took off work for nothing! I was unaware I was simply 'requesting' a time and it wasn't actually possible to install today. I'm pissed they had a week to figure out if they could pencil me in and didn't have the courtesy to tell me last night not to take off today. So I don't know what happens now, I tried to make another 'request' on the phone but they couldn't guarantee my new requested date/time would work, and worse - they couldn't say if I would get a yes/no answer to my 'request' prior to new requested date/time again!

Switched from 5268 to 599 and my attenuation increased by a lot?

So, I switched from the 5268AC to the NVG599 and my attenuation went way up... but my maximum attainable numbers also went up? Has anyone ever seen such a large increase in attenuation? Just struck me as weird...

75M is no longer offered

Was checking the availability page and just last week they were offering 45 and 75 speed plans. Today it's only 45. Any ideas as to why this could be? Is there concern that they can't even deliver 45M?

Gigapower + U-verse - how will cables be run?

I'm helping a family member sign up for AT&T fiber internet. She picked the 100Mb symmetric package + U-verse U200. She'd previously investigated DirecTV but they came out to her house and said she couldn't get it because of a number of trees in her neighbor's yard. She has a detatched garage at the rear of the lot, and the utility pole is behind the garage. The previous owner had the POTS NID located on the side of the garage and had two conduits buried between the house and garage - one for coax (time warner) and one for AT&T (the unused POTS connection). What are the chances they will run the connection via the buried conduit like the unused phone line is now? She doesn't want wires strung from the pole to the house in the air (there are none currently). Also, how does inside wiring work? When my parents got U-verse, they had easy access via an unfinished basement to run new ethernet to the U-verse receivers on the first floor. At my sister's house where this fiber+U-verse installation is occurring, her TWC modem/router is currently plugged into a coax outlet in a 2nd floor office, and she has two TVs on the 2nd floor. Will they run ethernet inside the walls to the upstairs locations? Also wondering how they'll be able to locate the gateway in the upstairs office.

New VDSL2 profiles rolling out?

Hey guys, I logged into my AT&T account tonight, went to the "Change my internet plan" page (keep hoping to see the 100/20 tier). Well interestingly I now have the option for the 50/10 Mbps tier, but it says my current 75/8 is no longer available and that if I changed I could not get it back. Do you think they are getting ready to do a larger rollout of the new VDSL2 tiers? http://www.att.net/speedtiers I'm in Central Arkansas, but the speed tier site currently says the 50/10 plan is still only Available in Lansing, MI South Bend, IN and Wichita, KS Only. To bad the 100/20 is not showing up :P

Question when upgrading from DSL to FTTH (gigabit)

So the good news is AT&T has overbuilt FTTH (arial lines in the neighborhood which probably helped)... The bad news is after not being able to install for six weeks (after 4 tech visits so far, took three just to get a truck roll to fix the issue at the PFP), the fourth visit (different tech from the first three visits) ran into a different problem (confirmed that the PFP issue was fixed but now there's another issue). Here's the kicker, though- the first three times, the tech made sure he was getting a proper light level at the ONT before switching my existing copper based VDSL off/over. The fourth one last Saturday did not. Apparently, even if nothing is physically disconnected- once they make the switch in their systems, you can't go back- so I've been stuck without internet at home for a week... Tech coming out tomorrow so we'll see what happens. Before or when he gets here I wanted to ask a question of the experts here- assuming there is still an issue and no light getting from the PFP to the ONT and the tech can't fix it... Is there ANYTHING I can do or say or have AT&T do just to get back my 18meg VDSL service I've had without any problems for years until last week when it was "switched over"? At this point, I just need working internet of any kind- The gigabit I ordered would be great, but I'll be happy enough right now just to get my old connection back while they figure out the issues. At this point my only other choice is (ugh) Spectrum... but if the fiber is still not working, and I can't get my old connection back, I don't really have a choice. I guess this can also be a warning for anyone else upgrading from DSL to FTTH... make sure the tech doesn't switch over your account until they are sure they're going to have a signal. TLDL; question: If upgrading from DSL to FTTH (gigabit) and your account gets switched over to fiber (even though the plan still reports as the old (in my case 18meg) plan), is there ANYTHING you can do to go back? I'm completely fine with with having to cancel/reorder the fiber upgrade, I'm fine with waiting through whatever issues there are just as long as I can have my existing access in the meantime.

Question about gigabit install requirements

Our street has gigabit service now, and I currently have 200 down mediacom with mediacom tv. There is a coax line running from the street to the house, and then it comes into the home via the attic and provides video service to rooms. I would be dropping mediacom internet but keeping video. What type of cable would Uverse gigabit run from the outside box to the inside modem/router? Just curious because the coax is kinda tied up.

NAT Table & IP Passthrough / NVG599 / 5268

So, Recently upgraded to the new 75 / 20? teir, seeing speeds of around 80 / 20 give or take. I use my own router (RT-AC68W with asus-merlin firmware) in IP Passthrough mode, everything connected there and most RG firewall options disabled. During some testing and really pushing the load, suddenly loading slowed to a crawl. Line stats perfect, but I found the NAT Table is almost full. Currently as of this post, Total sessions available 2560 Total sessions in use 2043 Kinda a ridiculous limit, as it used to be much higher. Heck with the older modems, 3800 for sure, possible the 3801, you at-least were able to edit the tcp and udp timeouts so they could be matched with your own router. The default session timeout limits on the RG are set stupid high and they expire much earlier on my own Asus router with more realistic timeouts. I am using a NVG599 and see no such options to edit session timeouts. Through browsing the forum, some people have mentioned the 5268 no longer has this NAT Table restriction in IP Passthrough.. anyone know if this is for sure and test it? Or is this something that just "appears" to be that way? I opted for the 599 as it gave me slightly overall better line stats, with virtually no errors. The router itself also does not seem to seem to "buckle" or struggle under heavy load (especially with TV service, though I know have DTV). The 5268 had slightly lower overall line stats with a few errors here or there, non-service affecting, however if NAT table limits are going to be an issue, that a lone may be the deal breaker switch me back over to the 5268. I do not use the built in Wireless. I have seen some posts regarding completely bypassing the RG, routing, however these steps seem to all be related to FTTP situtations. I take it these methods will not work with bonded FTTN? Thank you all for any assistance, insight and suggestions. Slow speedtests from Server 2016 with DMZ+ enabled

In trying to troubleshoot some of the download performance issues I mentioned here: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31305887-Gigapower-downloads-unusably-slow-without-VPN I've found that when DMZ+ is enabled on my 5268, servers in my lab running Windows Server 2016 are not able to get more than 70mbit downloads from speedtest.net or AT&T's speed test site. If I disable DMZ+, meaning my EdgeRouter gets a private IP on the wan interface, then the download performance is normal. In either configuration, non-server OSs (Windows 10, Windows 7, MacOS, etc) behave normally. To try to convey the issue more clearly: DMZ+ On: Windows Server 2016 download - 70mbit Windows Server 2016 upload - >900mbit Windows 10 download - >900mbit Windows 10 upload - >900mbit DMZ+ Off: Windows Server 2016 download - >900mbit Windows Server 2016 upload - >900mbit Windows 10 download - >900mbit Windows 10 upload - >900mbit No idea what's causing this. It's happening on physical and virtual servers, and systems with different hardware entirely. I created two VMs, Windows 10 and Server 2016, put them on the same ESXi host, and consistently reproduced the behavior over and over again. I swapped my EdgeRouter out for a regular, off-the-shelf Asus N66U and it does the same thing. I compared all the nic and tcp settings between the OSs. If DMZ+ is enabled, then Windows Server 2016 will hit 70mbit download on a speedtest and stay there. Same speed, exact same behavior on multiple physical and virtual machines. It's weird and I want to try to figure out why it's happening. I don't think it's necessarily related to the download performance issues I started having a month ago. Even with DMZ+ disabled and only using the 5268, my downloads are no faster. Anyone have any ideas?

DSLR Hivemind, Install is happening now and I have a crew at the house running cat6a everywhere and adding some AP Pros. Are there any instructions for how to set this thing up to use another router? Or is that even needed? I'm only going to need some port forwarding for torrents and Plex, nothing extraordinary. Thanks all

Opt-out of DNS error assist not working

I have tried to opt out of DNS assist: [att=2] But it is not working. I am still getting an assist page instead of an NXDOMAIN. Shown below is when I mistakenly tried to visit "get.java.com": [att=1] For info, I had checked the opt-out box over a month ago, so it should have taken effect by now? This is gigapower....

I realize that it is probably too expensive to run fiber from the VRAD to each home, but why can't they run coaxial cable? Wouldn't this solve most of their issues with speed and bandwidth? Especially since they want people to migrate to satellite for cable TV?

Question about 5268AC log

Hey guys. Got a question about the log of my 5268AC. I've seen this show up recently "daemon: mcpd: msp_timer 1780 MAX retry, use primary VCC port 2547" it happens conistently pretty much every 5-6 mins. It actually seems to have started since we changed from U-verse TV to DTV. Curious what it is, tried google but couldn't find anything useful. I also get " daemon: dsld[1418]: bcmdsl_train_hist_update_stats: reinit cause(Line=0): Loss of Power" a few times a day, but my service works perfectly. I though re training was pretty much equal to a disconnect? The broadband tab shows zero "Link retrains" on both lines so I'm guessing its just some sort of error.

AT&T just jack up our bill

I was paying $57 per month for home phone service and a 6 meg data line. Now they want $92 per month. Claiming that was a promotional price. If this is the way they operate then it is bye bye AT&T I have had many issues with line problems but since that has been sorted out and they replaced the gateway, the service has been pretty good.

Years of good service now a problem

I have had a 45mb connection for a few years with no problems. Last week I canceled the unlimited data for 30.00(only using about 700gigs. A few minutes after my modem rebooted and I got a blinking red light on 1 or my 2 lines (pair bonding) and a slower speed. a few days past with no change so I called and reported the problem. I wont get into it about tech support that is a whole issue in its self but I got them to send a tech out eventually. The tech came out and fixed said he fixed the problem. Both lines are green on the modem. The problem is when we did the speed test I am only hitting about 28mb. The same speed I was getting before he came out. I always got over 45 in the past, I check it a lot. He looked something up and told me I am only on a 32mb plan. I showed him my account page at uverse and it says 45mb. He told me it was a sales problem and to call them. (BTW uverse does not offer a 32mb plan for me goes from 24mb plan to 45mb plan.) Sales told me I am on a 45mb plan and sent me to tech support for a speed issue. I got no where with them. I was told that anything over 24mb is good enough on my 45mb plan. I understand speed can vary depending on a lot of factors. Is the tech that came out wrong or uverse? The whole thing is really messed up. I did not have a problem till recently, connections and speeds were great. Anyone know how to get this solved?
