My 5031NV's firmware just updated from 9.8.1.489233-att to 10.5.1.525930-att. My download stayed the same, at about 29Mbs. However my upload speed is way down, now around 1.4/1.5Mbs - normally it's about 4.5/4.6Mbs. Line stats and max rate (32/5 profile) stayed the same so I doubt it's an actual line problem. Tried restarting the modem, turning off IPV6 - same issue. Anyone else experienced this? Could my line provisioning have gotten messed up somehow?

AT&T Uverse Email....
I had my Uverse DSL only account for about 7 years now with the same one email I set up when I first got it.
A friend is staying here for a few months so I created a new email address for him using one of my allowed 10 sub accounts under my Uverse DSL only account.
Now everytime, since he created this new email address about a week ago, he logs into his att.net email account, it sits there for a couple of minutes withquote:Welcome to att.net Mail We are preparing your mailbox for you...What's the deal??? I have sent email to him from my att.net and yahoo and gmail accounts and he gets all of them right away.
Same when he emails me or emails others from this att.net account.
How do you make that go away?

How do I get this pole fixed?
So my neighbors keep backing over this thing and have finally broken the tabs off to the point I can't make it stand up anymore. I just blows over in the wind. I have tried hitting up AT&T on Facebook, and get lost when I call in, but it needs to be fixed.

AT&T pole mounted fiber in rural area..
I recently observed the AT&T trucks stringing pole mounted fiber (marked as fiber with the orange tags) on NC54 about 6 miles west of Chapel Hill. It starts at the Dodson's/NC 54 crossroads and then goes east and west for a distance. The above crossroads is the last UVerse VRAD out west on 54. Below ground fiber then extends west to light up a number of UVerse HSI ADSL2 concentrators further west.
If this was a dense urban area, I would think it would be for residential fiber. It is rural, but well supported by Uverse HSI ADSL2 concentrators.
The above ground fiber seems to be a departure from everything else out here being below ground.
Any body seen this in other rural areas and know what it is to be used for?

We currently have Uverse in small area of McCalla AL. Today came home and ATT is pulling fiber in our neighborhood. Think they might start up Gigapower? Neighborhood only has once entrance and about 30 homes in it.

AT&T removing Internet Preferences option on Oct 2?
Please take this with a grain of salt. This is a big game of telephone where what I heard might not be what is intended.
I was just on the phone with someone at AT&T sorting out billing issues. She read an internal memo that said that they were going to do away with the Internet Preference for Gigapower users on Oct 2. Has anyone heard anything else about this?
To clarify, "Internet Preferences" is what they call the "deep packet inspection to target ads at us, the customers".
I really hope this is true, but I haven't seen anything about it. Please, please don't get mad at me for spreading false rumors, I'm just re-stating what I was read. Its very possible I am way out of context.
When they removed caps from Gigapower, it was on a Sunday. Oct 2 is also on a Sunday.

AT&T Labs1 Project AirGig Nears First Field Trials, Ultra-Wireless Broadband
(Quote from AT&T Press Release)
The technology
Here's how AT&T describes the key characteristics of AirGig:
Is easier to deploy than fiber because it runs over license-free spectrum (no need for cables or new towers)
AT&T is experimenting with multiple ways to send a modulated radio signal around or near medium-voltage power lines without the need for electrical connections
Uses newly designed antennas to create an electromagnetic field that speeds and guides waves along the power line
Transfers through newly designed antennas and devices greatly reducing hardware and deployment costs
Leverages existing power line infrastructure to help solve connectivity for rural and global markets
As part of Project AirGig, AT&T Labs invented low-cost plastic antennas and devices located along the power line to regenerate millimeter wave (mmWave) signals that can be used for 4G LTE and 5G multi-gigabit mobile and fixed deployments.

Looking for password reset help - Former UVERSE customer
Hello,
I haven't been on here in a while. I am looking for help resetting a sbcglobal.net password from when we had UVERSE.
I've tried to used the forgot password links, but they get redirected to att.com. When I put in the email address and zip code the system can not find the username.
I called ATT and they tried to help, but couldn't find the account because we are from Connecticut. They transferred me to Frontier. They could not help because they said they could see our account.
We can view the email for the account in question on computers they have not been logged off the account, but an IPhone is looking for the password.
I'm hoping someone here can help me.
Thank you for your time.

Gigapower and DSLReports test
Just got Gigapower installed yesterday and testing things out.
Tests were run with the Pace 5286AC.
Using the Ookla speed test, I am getting around 940-950Mbps up and down when using the AT&T test server in Charlotte, NC. I run the Speed Test on this site and my download is around 160Mbps but my upload peaks around 1064Mbps. :hmm: Is this normal for this speed test on a fiber connection?
On a wireless connection (Note 4) next to the router using 5Ghz band, I am getting 335-350Mbps up and down with Ookla.

Port Forwarding for the Pace 5268AC
I have a Windows 7 and a Windows 10 computer behind my Pace 5268AC router. When I set up the pinhole for one computer using port 3389 with the "RDP" protocol, it works fine. The tool at http://www.portchecktool.com shows port 3389 open. For the second computer, I created a user-defined pinhole with port 3390 TCP. I selected the Windows 10 computer in the router and assigned the user-created application for port 3390 to it. Not only can I not connect to the computer remotely, portchecktool.com does not show the port as open.
I've gone through this process a number of times and have not been successful opening the port. I've followed the instructions meticulously including being sure to hit the "save" button. Nothing I do will open the pinhole.
What am I doing wrong? Both computers were easily accessible with my previous NVG599 router. Since the port is not showing as open, the problem can't be a firewall on the Windows 10 computer (which I turned off before I started using the portchecktool.)

Pace 5268AC
I have purchased a Pace 5268AC outside of ATT and was trying to get it working so I could stop paying the ridiculous monthly fee. I contacted support because it's not working. The foreign robot going through her script sheet has me unplug it and plug it back in. (Like that wasn't already tried) And then another 10 minutes of whatever lame troubleshooting her script tells her. She then tells me that it's not setup at my house, (after I ask her if it needs to be registered to work) and that they can do that for me, but they would still charge the monthly rental fee for the equipment even after I return the one they gave me. This seems borderline criminal to me. Is there anyway around this? I've about had enough with ATT.

How does AT&T 75Mbps service compare to my current full T1?
I have had a full T1 service for the last 8yrs or so for my web servers, and website http://carnut.com mainly because the SWB/AT&T DSL I had for several years before that did away with static IP's.
Fortunately my web sites generated enough Google income to cover the cost of the T1 connection.
Now my web server activity has gone down a bit and no longer pays enough to cover the cost of the T1 $330/mo, and now I notice I can get a Uverse 75Mbps down/8Mbps up w/5 Static IPs for $145/mo.
I'm old and a bit naive on the techie stuff or what I really need, so can anyone tell me if the AT&T change would be acceptable for my activity?

Makeing the Pace 5268AC remotely pingable .??
I had a new Pace 5268ac installed about 2 months ago, (previously had a NVG589, and was pingable, but it got zapped in a lightning storm). Now I need to be remotely pingable again, but the configuration setting that I found were in-effective. From the modem's Advanced Firewall Configuration admin page, I have UN-CHECKED the "Block Ping Enable" box. This change has been ineffective.

Pace 5268AC Cascade Router
I still want to use my Asus N66U for WoL and VPN stuff. I noticed in the settings of the Pace it has this option. How do I setup a basic cascade with my Asus? Basically I want to use the Pace's wifi (seems to work better than my Asus) but use the LAN side of the Asus for my connection to my PC.

Uverse Elite 6mbps, speeds arbitrarily "bumped" up, now unstable.
Noticed internet was slow today, and did a speed test, and ping, download, and upload are not what they should be, not what they have been. This happened about a year ago, and when I called in, the person I spoke to said that everyone had been "bumped up", as far as speeds, and my sync rate was like 7.2 mbps. That's all well and good, but my Elite package is borderline, as far as distance, but it works pretty darn good. But not when the sync rate is increased, and that is what the tech that came out said. The Elite package is supposed to be 6 down, and 1 up, with average speeds about 5.6 down, give or take, and about .60 up, give or take. The tech that came out had them lower my cap back down to 6, as it should be, and it has been stable that way, so that needs to be done again, as it seems they "bumped me up" again. It also needs to be set back to fastpath.
When this happened for the second time, awhile back, with AT&T telling me they had to send someone out, and after what seemed like an act of congress, I was lucky enough that one of the Uverse care team people(I think that's what it was called) that I had emailed earlier that day, called my house, and was actually the person that capped my speed when the tech contacted him through their chat, and remembered my issue....just took care of it over the phone. It was no big deal. He capped it at 6, put it back to fastpath. Done.
Yes.....I know it's technically more stable with interleaving, but capped at 6, and on fastpath, it works, plain and simple. A little less latency, and it's pretty stable. This sync rate at 7.2 makes it very sporadic.
Now......I tried emailing the Uverse care team or Overse social care team.....whatever they were called, earlier tonight. I actually replied to the old email, where the guy called my house.
I got this reply:

Can someone please tell me how to get through to the same "smart" people that can do this, since that email option is no more, apparently?
And if I remember correctly, you used to be able to contact some of those people on here.....does that still exist?
Any help/input/advice greatly appreciated....more than I can say. It's a simple fix, if I can get to the right person. Worst case, I can have them send out a tech, but it's not necessary. I'd like to do it with a phone call, or chat session, or email.
Thanks very much, in advance!!

ATT GigaPower - Pace 5268AC DMZPlus Mode == Layer 2 bridge (y/n)
Greetings,
I recently switched to ATT GigaPower fiber to the home service last month.
I have the Pace 5268AC, with software version 10.5.3.527171-att. I have 1 ethernet device connected (My Gateway), which I have configured to be in the "DMZPlus" mode:
ONT->Pace 5268AC->My Gateway->My Network
When I run dhclient on my gateway, I am able to get a WAN IP on my routers interface
The reason I am posting all of this is that many other threads here indicate that this device does not support bridging, and your only option for running another gateway was to double NAT behind it. Were these posts based on old information for a previous software version on the Pace 5268AC? Or am I missing something?
Appreciate any thoughts or ideas

Network and service outage in Riverside, CA
I first noticed a problem around 3:20pm yesterday, where the signal went down. The modem status page showed that the first of the two pairs had lost sync and was retraining repeatedly. So I called AT&T and got them to run the usual minimum tests before they'll send out a technician. They decided to schedule that visit for this morning from 8:30am to noon.
9:30am or 10am arrives, and we get a text from the technician indicating that there's a network outage in the area, and that our visit is on hold for the indefinite future. So now I wait for a status update from AT&T, while I continue to use my T-Mobile data to keep myself busy.
