So the tech came out to my house to replace the modem only we had with a new modem NVG510. Which I think is absolute crap as it's worse now than before (completely disconnects and throws up att errors versus) I didn't check what it was before I swapped modems though. The tech even mentioned the signal is good inside the house and that I'm super lose to the box? Before the modem was switched, we would get a lot of dropped internet/slow but we would reset the modem and it would work again. It got to the point where we couldn't go on the internet/dropped like crazy, so thus the call to ATT support. I did a IP Passthrough to my Asus router and try to set the DNS to google servers, but the router or ATT seems to really dislike having a set DNS. hi, I have NVG589 and over N connection at 144-156mb I only get up to 10mb down and 3mb up, while desktop over Ethernet gets 30mb down and 6mb up. Max rate is 57000, line rate is 32xxx Yes, I tried change CH to 1,6 and 11, while #6 has better score 50+ in inSSIDer I can get expected 20mb down speed over wi-fi What else I can try to get better wi-fi speed? thanks. -- Best Regards. Even though I live close to downtown Cary, Uverse says that TV is not available at my location. What is the technical reason that it's not available? AT&T has always been behind the curve for upgrades in my neighborhood, except when they were the first to roll out high speed Internet with DSL.

AT&T is not activating any more copper in my location (Maylene, AL). They tell me that Uverse is "close", but they don't have a time frame for lighting my neighborhood up. Independent investigation reveals "close" to be around 1/4 - 1/3 mile following surface streets. I also heard recently that if my area isn't currently eligible, we're not going to be because AT&T isn't upgrading any more cabinets. The people in "phase II" of the subdivision have no home phone or internet service available at all. I only have internet because I convinced the people that used to live in my house to leave it on when they left and let me pay them for it. I loved Uverse in Tuscaloosa, but the modern internet is practically unusable on 3Mbps DSL. How do I find out what's really going on? What do I look for as far as signs of progress go? I checked the AT&T website and learned that if I order Uverse at Cape Canaveral, Florida, voice and internet only, the maximum available download speed will be 24 Mbps. I do not want to order TV programming because I already pay for cable TV through my HOA fee. Would any one reading this post know if I order voice and internet only, is voice service delivered on a regular land line or via VOIP. What type of modem is required for internet access if TV programming is not ordered? I need a regular land line for reliability, for such services as Life Alert and for sending an occasional FAX. Your advice will be appreciated.

Hi all... I've been using a program called Synergy to allow use of one keyboard/mouse for several 'puters for years with both an AT&T provided Netgear wifi router and a Linksys WRT54GL when we had Comcast. But, now that I have an NVG589, I cannot make it work. Synergy uses port 24800 to communicate between 'puters. Do I need to somehow open that port? If so, how do I do that without being tied to one specific device... I went to NAT/Gaming thinking I could do it there, but it only allows a port to be opened for one PC with the application... it needs to be opened for several PCs. Perhaps I should just go back to the WRT54GL or a newer E900 I have lying around and bypass the 589's router. Also, could it be an IPV6 issue? Thanks for any suggestions!

I have U verse phone and internet, and next Jan 14th my discount will expire and the full rate will be applied. What should I do to attempt to continue to receive a good deal?

I'm a Uverse TV/Internet customer coming to the end of my 1-year term. Many of the special discounts were for 12 months and they are expiring, which means my rates will be going up. I called to cancel and ask about other deals, but the rep wasn't able to really offer anything. I'm going to cancel my service, but then how long do I have to wait before I can get the "new customer" deals again?

What do these changing numbers mean? I noticed it like a week or so ago, but I'm just now getting around to posting it now. I always run UV Realtime when I see changes in my stats. Everything is fine with my connection. Thanks

I am about to dive into U-Verse here. I won't do business with Comcast, so I am going with AT&T. "It's not a choice, it's a lack of options" as I like to say... I believe I am about 1,400' from the neighborhood node, but that's just an educated guess. 45 Mbps tier is NOT available at my address, so the most they will let me order is the Max Turbo at 24Mbps. They say that my only RG option is the NVG510. I am only signing up for Internet service, no TV. My next-door neighbor has U-Verse for both Internet and TV service, and is overall happy with it, no major complaints. I had copper/CO-based DSLAM service with AT&T several years ago, about the time they were rolling out U-Verse services. I had lots of problems at that time, and sort of got the impression that the cable plant in my neighborhood was not that great. I ended up switching to Sonic.net and the service is "better", but still slow. I am not convinced that AT&T can provide reliable 24Mbps service. Any advice on ordering and/or how to ensure that I get what I pay for? I was considering ordering a lower-speed plan (12 or 18Mbps) and then seeing how it goes. If reliable and stable, maybe upgrade plans later. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated!

I live in Texas and I recently subscribed to UVERSE and everything was great till I decided to play counterstrike and wow I ping on avg 90-120 on all US servers. Before moving to my current location I had DSL and was pinging 30-60 so i was expecting a better ping with this new fancy service. Lets say I am disappointed.. i have the highest plan you offer and I cant play the game i love. Little side note.. 10 years ago when i was on DIALUP! i got 100-150 ping playing counterstrike. Hope there is a fix. BTW - FRESH LOADED PC / NO AV / NO OTHER APPS INSTALLED EXCEPT CHROME AND STEAM NO OTHER PCS ON NETWORK.

I accidentally unplug my u-verse router and now the broadband wont blink only the power light is on. I tried doing the method "did you turn it off and turn it back on?" But it didn't work. Every routers are connected (green router). Can somebody help me understand why and how to fix this?

Before I go to cs, in March, I'd like to know more about the roll out. Looking at the 45 Mb tier and see that it requires a bonded pair? I see that we are 1.4 miles from the co, but at the site it appears that we can get it. The nid is as old as sin and the only phone wire goes from nid, under a crawlspace, to a normal sized basement to a phone on the wall in the kitchen. How bad is this going to be? Thinking of going with wifes cellphone service for the phone, so it would just be the Power internet and TV. I can't pretend to absorb all the info in faqs. Can anyone sum it up? It appears that the install will be free, but it also appears that I have zero option for my own modem? Can't change the I.P.? Looking for a reason to switch, but it's not very heartening. Used to love AT&T in the old days, could do my own installs, get my own modem etc. -- we're all connected

I have a business web site and we recently moved hosting. When we did, I can not bring it up on a Mac using safari, Crome, Firefox or even by pinging. the problem is my u-verse and my partners u-verse can not bring it up but we can using starbucks, friends and other hot spots. I have friends that have u-verse and they can get it too load. Our new host is baffled. They are going to maintain and change the site so I am kind of stuck. I am using Yosemite and the newest safari browser. My partner unplugged her u-verse router and it made no difference. I am getting everything else that I have bookmarked and that I use links for. Again, when I try to ping I get nothing. I am not at home so I am not sure which router I have but previously I had no problems. What could possibly make a router not be able to access one serve,r but get everything else. Especially when everyone else is not having any problem including people with the same service.

I recently purchased a Zyxel USG 20W firewall/router/wireless access to replace my smoothwall 3.1 pc. my concern is how do i setup the Zyxel to act as the filter like the smoothwall did. what is the physical setup. i dont want to use the zyxel as WAN router the ATT gateway takes care of that. I just want the zyxel to provide wireless access to devices and it will be connected to a cisco switch for wired devices such as desktop pc etc. should i connect the incoming traffic ethernet cable to port 2 on the zyxel from the att router that should be correct. then on port 3 i connect the cisco switch? i just want to make sure my logic is correct. the zyxel setup should be the same as the smoothie. thanks

I'm currently using 3mbps DSL and got a notice that I can upgrade to 6mbps uverse finally (I live in the boondocks). Saturday evening I went through the process online and they wanted me to buy a modem for $100. I cancelled what I was doing and looked around for a way to use my existing equipment. I discovered that uverse is a different kind of DSL (maybe? IDK) and that i'd have to get a new modem anyway. So I resigned my self to buying a new modem, but when I went back to the AT&T website the only option I get is paying $7/mo to rent a gateway. There's no way i'm paying money to lease equipment, so is there some way to get the old offer back (paying $100 for the gateway instead of the $7/mo?) I've tried different browsers and made sure that i'm selecting Internet only. I really don't want to have to call them up, because it always takes at least an hour and 5 transfers before they tell you there's nothing they can do.

I have a uverse wireless receiver on my HDTV. Our service was great until right before christmas, when the line was replaced from our NIC to the service pole due to the errant actions of a subcontractor. We also added a chromecast at christmas time. Since these events, I've had a lot of rebooting of only that receiver, and have been seeing a red X with #4 or red X with # 10. I put in a call to tech support and they ran some remote tests, then they decided to send a truck out. The tech came in, heard about the chromecast on the tv and instantly declared it to be the problem, and apparently left without doing much except sitting in our driveway monitoring the line. I haven't found online where other Uverse customers are reporting similar issues. What really frosts me at this point is, apparently the tech didn't even turn on the affected tv. When I left the house this morning, red X with 10 on the screen. Left it there for the tech to find. Guess what I find when I get home late that night. A disconnected chromecast, and the same red X 10. Any At&T people out there who can shed some light on this? --

My previous 12 month promotion ended in Nov 2014. Fortunately I called in time and they offered me 12 months at $30 instead of sticking with the non promotion at $68. 1 month later I get a bill for $64! Viewed my bill online and it shows the new promotion was applied on the day I call but then was cancelled a few days later (not by me). Took a while but they fixed it, except now I was being charged $30.50 for 12 months, or half price of the 18Mbps rate. 1 month later (today) I get a bill for $61. . . . . WTH? Of course it's too late to call the retention dept tonight. My online acct shows that 2 services were cancelled last month and nothing new started. . . Anyone else experience this? Never been a problem for me the past renewal times. Arrgh - very frustrating.

So, I am a current Uverse customer and we are moving into zipcode 30044 in the next 3-4 months. When I look up various addresses in 30044, the ATT online tool doesn't show that Uverse is available. We current live in 30047 and have 45Mbps service. Thanks in advance,
