Well, I have had Comcast since about September. We had U-verse Pro 3/1 before then and currently we pay $19.99 for Performance and it's about to end. When the one year price ends we'll be paying $34.99 for another year then it goes to normal pricing(Internet only). Our performance speeds are 20/4(Really 22/4.5) and so far haven't gotten the 25/5 as other areas had. AT&T offered us Max Turbo(24/3 but you had to drop some for overhead) for $33. But, have to factor in the $6 rental so it's really $39 and would be good for 2 years. It would also extend our current U-verse TV/Phone offers to 2 years from one.
What do you think?
Reasons for staying with Comcast:
- Cable straight from outside to my modem here.
- Doesn't require a 1 year contract like the AT&T offer does.
- Possibility of calling up for another year of $34.99 or attempting to get the $34.99 Blast 50/10(Only 6 months pricing though).
- Don't have to run over powerline networking/wireless(Our U-verse gateway is on the other side of the house). We could easily move it(Since we're on coax) but we would have to get a tech or run a whole new phone line from one end of the house to the other for phone service. I do have an EA6300/A6200 though for wireless.
- No rental charge currently since I have my own modem. Unless they decide in the future to force it.
- Comcast is moving a lot faster in speeds
Reasons for going with AT&T:
- One bill
- Two years guaranteed
- Not sure how it'll be but we always got slightly above advertised on our Pro plan but many seem to have a little lower.
- We're on the 32/5 profile and don't have HD service and SD streams only seem to take 2 Mbps each so it wouldn't be much of a problem during TV watching.
- Upload isn't that important to me.
- Roughly the same ping/jitter.
