Installing my own inside lines

This isn't specific to AT&T U-Verse, but I don't know where to put it. My U-Verse data & voice line is now active at the house I just bought, according to AT&T. Just one problem: the incoming phone cable goes into the network interface box on the side of the house, as you would expect, but there are only two cut-off phone wire stubs poking out of it; nothing else on the inside wiring end. Maybe the previous owner was mad at the phone company? So it looks like I get to install all my own wiring. I'm not too worried about wiring in general, but specifically for installing DSL lines, is there anything I should especially watch out for? Is there a FAQ for this? (oh- google is my friend, I guess...) http://www.dslreports.com/faq/568
