Over the past few months, AT&T has been sending me various promotional crap about my location being serviced by AT&T UVERSE.
Marketing 768Kbps as the maximum download speed for my address is NOT UVERSE. It's piss poor DSL that's being delivered by copper that ties back to the Central Office that's 4 miles from me in my house on a county road in East Texas.
Your sales reps are dumber than rocks too when I have to explain that UVERSE is just ADSL2 and NOT FTTH (Fiber To The Home), like Verizon's FIOS.
If AT&T would setup FTTN (Fiber To The Node) at the start of every county road that's tied to a state road, and run DSLAMs off the nodes, they could reach most of the rural people with ADSL2 or UVERSE as they like to call it. I remember having it at another address in the same zipcode. It still runs over the existing copper. But instead of using the Central Office as the Access Point, it uses he fiber fed node as the AP.
For now I'll just have to stick with Verizon's HomeFusion because AT&T is either unwilling to upgrade their network for better wireline service in the rural areas or they actually think they will be able to service all their rural customers with LTE like Verizon in about 20 years at the rate they are going..
Where's all the BILLIONS of dollars each month going AT&T?? Let me guess.. Probably helping secretly to fund the huge multiple hundred billion dollar NSA data center in Utah right??
