There are two entrances off Toonigh Road into my subdivision. I usually take the second entrance. Once in a while I'll take the first entrance just to drive by the VRAD.
Today (Sunday) there was a tech doing some work at the VRAD so I stopped and talked to him. He was very friendly.
I asked when we are going to get fiber in our neighbourhood. He started talking about all of Atlanta should be covered by 2020. But I said, with a smile, I don't care about Atlanta, I want to know when WE are getting fiber. He said he would be very surprised if we didn't have it before the end of 2016. He said that we were all aerial up and down Toonigh Road and that it should be relatively easy to get us on fiber. He said once Cherokee County got put on the list (supposedly this year) we should start seeing some activity.
I work in Cartersville and they have ran fiber around town and I get so jealous 8-)
I told the Tech that he gave me some hope and staved me off from jumping to Comcast internet. I know the whole grain of salt thing and he seemed like he was trying to tell me what he knew. No set in stone time of our County, Town, community getting fiber, but he did give me a little hope that i might get fiber before 2020!
