Upgrading from DSL to U-Verse in Michigan (Metro Detroit), have ?'s

I've done some browsing, but knowing these things change from year to year (or faster) I figured I'd just start a new thread. I have AT&T DSL and POTS and have had them for some time. I also have AT&T Wireless Service which I link to my Internet and Phone account for "Combined Billing." I have a few questions that AT&T didn't seem to understand or wasn't able to answer. 1. Will I get to keep my existing AT&T E-mail? I don't really use it, so it's not a big deal if I can't, but I'd like to keep it if at all possible 2. The order says I need professional installation, do I need to let them inside? I have a "whole house" network for Phone, Cat5e, and Coax that all goes thru a Panel with a Network Switch in a rack nearby. I don't want the tech to touch this. I have a "main port" Phone line next to the panel that is currently "jumpered" to the Panel so that DSL can be picked up on any port in the house (and POTS gets forwarded). When I upgrade to U-Verse I was planning on plugging the Residnetial Gateway into the "main port" and back feeding the panel with the VoIP phone service (thus removing the "jumper"). I'm 90% certain this will work, but I don't want the tech messing with it. 3. Will I have to "recombine" my billing and how much of a hassle will that be? 4. I was told I can keep my existing phone number, the order shows the current number which is good. I don't trust AT&T (or any ISP) so does this actually happen, do I actually keep the number? This would be a huge issue if I lost it. 5. Currently I have Unified Messaging, does my Voice Mail box transfer or do I have to "setup" a new one? 6. Do you own or lease the Residential Gateway? I don't want to be charged monthly for a device. Thanks in advance for any answers!
