Hi all,
I have a new home under construction on a road that runs east-west. This is not a subdivision. The lots are no smaller than 2.5 acres, and up to 10 acres. Most houses are set back about 200 ft from the road, some much farther. There is an existing home to the west and existing home to the east. Both homes have AT&T services. The home to the west has U-verse internet available with speeds up to 12 Mbps and is 200 ft from the road. The home to the east has U-verse TV and Internet available with speeds up to 18 Mbps and is about 800 ft from the road.
I have called AT&T new customer service to plan for connecting my house to AT&T services, and they have supposedly sent an engineer out to evaluate the installation of service. The engineer says we are too far away to receive any U-verse services. This does not make sense. If the line is coming from the west, then the house to the east if farther away than we are. If the line is coming from the east, then the house to the west is farther away than we are.
I've also checked other houses farther away, and all houses to the east of my new home have U-verse TV and 18 Mbps Internet available. All houses to the west of my new home at least have 12 Mbps internet available.
Also, the house to the east, which has U-verse TV and a higher download speed available, is much farther from the road then where we are building our house. Our house is 200 ft from the road, and the house to the east is about 800 ft from the road. Our house is about 200-300 ft east of that house. So, unless the hub is off of the main road and way back on their property, I doubt they are closer to it than our house is.
I've made my point to AT&T customer service on the phone, including talking to a customer service supervisor, and the line they give is that my address isn't in the footprint and they can't do anything about that. But my house is surrounded by houses with AT&T service within the AT&T footprint, so my house HAS to be within the footprint. AT&T is the only available landline telephone provider for the area, as well, and they won't even connect for POTS.
Has anyone else here had experience with this? What do I need to do to get someone to address this issue and help us get connected?
Thanks.
