My in-laws are having U-verse installed today and I have a question since I had little chance to speak with the install tech. He said the STB will be hardwired, probably rg6. Now my question is, will the ethernet jack on the back of the STB be able to be used for an Xbox or Blu-ray player? He said if he ran cat-6, you wont be able to use a switch to "split" the connection. Main reason being is that there is a security system and they'd like to be able to see remotely whats going on. Wireless inside the home is horrendous, both 2.4 and 5ghz so a wireless bridge is out of the question.
