at&t uverse self-install vs professional install.

so, AT&T wants $99 for an install on uverse internet alone....They said I could opt for a "self-install" kit, where I hook up everything inside and configure it. ok, I can do that..... The at&t rep stated that a tech would do all the "outside wiring". I assume that means bringing the cable from the pole to the house, then fixing the interface box outside that ties into the copper wiring inside the house. Actually, the cable from the pole to the house is still intact from where we had a landline years and years ago.... But the cable to the box isn't connected to anything. The wires are cut loose, but the wires leading into the house are in the same box, but cut loose..... A tech would have to rewire the outside wiring in the box as the line from the box and the lines into the house would need to be re-connected. So, with a SELF INSTALL kit, is this how it works? A tech would still come out to complete the connection from the pole to the house and rewire the box. but wouldn't come inside to hook the modem up and configure it (that would be my job). or does "self-install" mean we flip a switch at the local office, and we assume all the wires are hooked up at your house (we DID have this happen once with at&t when adding another landline). I don't have a problem doing the inside hookup. Just need to make sure someone's gonna hook up the outside part. Or I could just signup with DSL EXTREME for a free pro install. But AT&T has a $100 rebate card if you signup with them online. Anyone ever did a self-install for uverse internet only?
