Switched from pots/DSL to U-verse Nov. of 2014. Original switch was a nightmare, over half of phone jacks did not work, alarm did not work, AT&T tech cut alarm wires. After 5 return visits from AT&T & 3 visits from alarm co. finally got everything working except randomly I loose voice service. Internet still works. AT&T has checked inside & outside wiring, no noise/shorts on line. Gateway NVG589 has been replaced with a "new" one, not a refurbished one. Line has been tested/checked by phone techs numerous times, no problems found or so they say.
The only way I can get phone service restored is to unplug phone line on back of gateway, wait a few seconds, press the reset button on back of gateway, after a few minutes service is restored until the next time I drop voice service.
Some of the visits from AT&T have been from supervisors, last one was a district manager. His comment was: "I don't know what else to do."
I do not like the idea of not knowing phone will work in case of emergency/fire/alarm.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to solve my problem.
Thank you.
