I am hoping to get some good tech support on this probably very unique situation: I have a residential Uverse client that I installed a 8 camera NVR IP camera sys. I worked a long time on the router opening ports, etc....so the cams could be accessed offsite...etc....A few times ATT tech support has had them do a HARD RESET and that of course deletes ALL config and I have to reprogram it....I feel like the ATT router is overwhelmed with all the data going through it and it has crashed a few times since my install. Symptoms at first being their TVs pixelating really bad or not working altogether.
My basic question is this: can I just put this router in bridge mode, install a much better router to run the network? So many pros to this for me BUT did not know how it would affect the communication for the 3 wireless ATT cable boxes they have? And or other ATT services....I know when I reboot the NVG589 it takes all the TVs down....OH AND DUH, they of course have 2 phone lines.....in bridge mode would the voice lines stay active?
Hope to hear back asap from someone
thx
Scott
