I live in Columbus Ohio and Darth Vader's Death Star Inc. (AT&T lol) is forcing me over to Uverse.
Anywho... I have some questions about it.
1. What Gateway do you get with Uverse? Is it the Motorola NGV589 or are they still supplying the 2wire Uverse modem?
In the case of Motorola... can you stealth mode the firewall?
2. Every year I always call AT&T to cancel my service and they always provide me with a substantial discount to stay. Are there any ISP providers that currently buy/resell AT&T fiber optic lines -- sort of like the way DSL Extreme buys up ATT's copper lines and sells DSL service that competes with ATT?
I am just wondering because it seems like this push to fiber optics is just to push out the competition.... and sort of monopolize the fiber optics internet market.
I also really hate the fact that I have to rent a gateway... that I am not given any choice in just buying a new one outright. :(
