I've said it before and I'll say it again, there NEEDS to be a firmware update on these things or I wouldn't be surprised if we begin seeing a lot of people complaining that their TVs keep freezing up or dropping connection.
Sadly, the VEN501 has the same fate as the VAP2500. They change channels incredibly too much due to interference. They're way too sensitive. When they're not on the pretty empty DFS spectrum, they channel jump constantly.
Whenever they channel change, there is roughly a 1-2 second TV freeze. It also makes the ISB7005 signal drop problems more noticeable. Whenever they change channel, it makes the ISB7005s more likely to do their little drop the signal where it won't come back until you reboot glitch.
With 5 GHz networks becoming more common, any little small download in the neighborhood pushes these things around like a rag doll. They don't even have to be close, the network can be really far and still go crazy.
One VEN501 in our neighborhood had channel jumped at least 4 times in the past hour. Before I set my VAP2500 to a fixed channel, I couldn't even use my RT-N66's 5 GHz because it made my VAP2500 go crazy.
In high density areas and in buildings like apartments, there is going to be insane channel jumping.
As more opt in for wireless receivers and more VEN401s are replaced with VAP2500s/VEN501s there is going to be quite a war going on.
