For the past few days, my U-verse Max service, which is supposed to be 12Mbps down, was getting between 800Kbps and 7Mbps. AT&T online support resolved the problem, they said, by changing the wireless channel on my 3600HGV gateway from Auto to Channel 6. The mystery to me is that the wireless network on the gateway is not being used, so how did a potential channel issue impact the wired download bandwidth connectivity so badly? I have a separate router (running in Bridge Mode) providing my wireless network and it pre-dates the change from DSL to U-verse. There was no problem until the last few days, so can anyone explain how an idle wireless network was causing my download bandwidth via a wired connection to be more than halved? I don't see any other nefarious activity trying to assault my gateway. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
