I run a fast food restaurant at a mall. We can't get anything but ATT DSL there or a T1 line. You can't get anything else. Our POS system requirements were just upgraded to where they now say I need at least 1.5Mb download and 750K upload but I don't get that with ATT. So you can imagine how happy I am that, two days later, I get this letter from ATT saying they are upgrading the lines and networking in the mall so we can all get Uverse and all we have to do is call this number to get hooked up. Yay!
Awwwwwwwwwww. Call the number and told, "I know a lot of customers are getting this letter but the truth is it's not available there but I'll check every **month** until it is and give you a call when it happens!"
And people wonder why I switched our other restaurants to Charter.
While I'm at it. We had ATT DSL at one of our locations elsewhere but they were charging us more for DSL and phone than we could get through Charter who had better services. I called ATT, last May, to see if they could match the rates but the best they could do was lower our rates by $2/month. I said "fine" but when our contract is up in December, I'm switching to Charter. The person on the line didn't seem to care.
So December is coming up and I'm making plans. I call ATT to double check the exact December date our contract is up and, as it turns out, that savings of $2/month also extended our contract out to May of next year. It will now cost us $300 to get out of our contract (for two lines).
So, I ask for a supervisor. She says he's busy doing something but she'll pass on my number and have him call me back sometime today.
You guessed it. Never heard from them.
Fortunately, Charter has a contract buyout option that will pay for half of that. I don't know about the second line cause we're dropping the second line.
And people wonder why, for 15 years, I have had a deep, disdain for all things ATT.
