Hi All,
I am doing some work for a company that requires that DSL be monitored via ICMP poll over the internet to track for faults etc. For most companies out there, this is not an issue and the gateway IP address can always be polled over the internet.
However, we're having some issues with Uverse modems.
These devices are purchased as a static IP service and we are provided a static usable range along with the gateway IP.
For the areas using ADSL uverse, an NVG510 modem is used. For these, we login remotely and disable the NAT/Firewall and configure the static IP's and we are able to then poll the gateway remotely.
However, for all sites where we the NVG589 or the pace 5031NV is the modem in the area, we cannot poll ICMP even when configuring the device the exact same way as the 510. We also checked the options to allow inbound traffic, disabled the firewall. No cigar.
When speaking with AT&T we were told by 9 out of 10 Uverse support reps that the gateway address is not pingable from the outside with the latter 2 modems. The service in those areas is VDSL and VDSL2.
Have any of you using static setups with these 2 modems had any success with being able to ping the gateway IP address from the internet? Any past experience you could share would be great.
Thanks
↧
