Hi everyone,
I recently upgraded to U-Verse's 45mbps service, which resulted in my original NVG510 being replaced with an NVG589.
I also have a block of 5 static IP's, which I used successfully in the past with my NVG510. However, when I try to set the static ip info (gateway, starting and ending IP address) in the NVG589, I keep getting a red error message on the main screen saying something to the effect of: "system database is invalid....reboot or call tech support".
The first time it happened, I tried removing the static ip info by changing the ""Public Subnet Enable" setting to off, and it caused the error message to disappear.
Later on I tried entering the static info again, and once again got the red "system database is invalid" message. This time I tried resetting the router (through the browser). I entered my password, and instead of returning to the main configuration page after completing the countdown like it should, it stayed on the countdown page and reset itself.....
However, when I logged back into the router, the "system database is invalid" message was still there.
Next, I tried going back to the "subnets and DHCP" page, but when I got to the point where it asked me my password, after entering it the router sent me right back to the main page. I tried going into other areas that required a password, and it did the same thing. I was definitely not fat fingering the password - I double and triple checked it. In other words it was not accepting my password.
Around this time the router went through a spontaneous reboot. Im thinking something really got screwed up....
Since I could not do anything substantive because my password was not being accepted, I held down the red reset button on the modem for ~30 seconds, and it seems to have fixed everything. I still do not have my static IP info entered...and Im leery to try it until I determine if the "system database is invalid" error is serious or not.
Has anyone seen or heard of the "system database is invalid" error? If so, what did you do to resolve it? And is it serious? Or can it be ignored?
I have searched high and low on the net, here, as well as at ATT....I was able to find a couple of posts where the error is mentioned, but no solution was offered.
And does anyone have any idea why my 589 gave me so many problems when I was trying to disable the public subnet setting?
BTW I am 100% positive that I am entering the static IP info correctly. I have a block from .81 - .85.....so I set the gateway to .86, and the range is obviously xxx.xxx.xxx.81 - xxx.xxx.xxx.85. I set "allow inbound traffic" to on, and "Primary DHCP Pool" to "private".
Any help or insights will be greatly appreciated.
