The tech guy showed up a little after noon today to set up my U-verse internet and phone service. I thought he was going to be bringing a 2Wire but showed up with a Motorola NVG510 and a Belkin backup power supply. I guess this isn't the newest model Motorola but the price was right since they gave it to me for free. I had everything set up and cleared to make it as easy as possible to get things done and the whole service call took less than 30 minutes, with me setting up my voice service in addition to getting online before he left. I've looked over the Motorola Admin page, turned on the firewall and turned off the Wi-Fi and it appears pretty straightforward. I haven't set up my pfSense firewall yet but looked over the specific directions to "bridge" this Motorola at the AT&T forums, and from looking at the Admin page am confident I can figure it out. My plan is 18MBps down and 800KBps up, but at first I wasn't getting any better speeds than i was with DSL. I rebooted the router and my laptop and now according to Auto Speed Test am getting close to what I should be: Download :: 15.4 Mbps Upload :: 915 Kbps The best part is it isn't costing me any more than my old 6MBps DSL plan was at $31 a month, and I get a free 200 minutes long distance added to my old phone plan at the same price to boot. :D
