I'm trying to save $100 when I upgrade from dry loop DSL to Uverse internet only. I understand that they no longer allow self installs, but what I don't know is if they did allow the self install, what would be involved? I have Cat 5 from the NID to my modem, if I were able to do a self install, would it just be plugging in to a new Uverse box?
If it is that simple, I would want to use that as a basis to plead for them to wave the install fee. $100 is a big deal right now, so keeping it in my pocket, instead of theirs, would be very helpful.
