I got suckered into switching from ATT DSL to ATT UVerse 6 months or so back, and it's been the worst nightmare I've ever experienced.
Yesterday, they replaced some more wiring (this was the 6th tech visit in ~7 months), and as part of their attempt to make it work they left a 5168NV ( apparently Pace / 2Wire) remote gateway, as an alternative to the existing Moto NVG510.
Has anybody tried one of these and what was your experience?
The NVG 510 is very displeasing, but at least it sort of works some of the time (after having spent close to a month getting it to work with everything else I have connected). If the 5168NV is as crippled as the NVG510, I'm not real interested in even trying it, as I need way more configuration adjustments than ATT is usually willing to allow through the normal Web UI.
If I thought it would be better I wouldn't mind testing / experimenting. However, given that it's likely an even worse product than the NVG510 from the configuration perspective, I'm hesitant to spend any time with it. There is apparently no documentation (other than a hardware spec sheet) posted anywhere on the web that I've found. And the Pace / 2Wire products are apparently much more difficult to 'adjust' to get to the root shell so that config changes might be possible.
If anybody has experienced this gateway, I would love to learn from you.
