It started a few months ago, Line 1, which had always been our stronger line, started throwing lots of FECs and the max rate dropped from ~51k to ~32k. It eventually went up to 38k but still lots of FECs. A port bounce brought it back to ~48K and fewer FECs.
I recently reversed the order of the pairs to see if maybe it was our homerun, and afterwards it seemed likely, so I replaced everything on our side of the NID with new wiring/hardware/etc... After doing this the lines inverted themselves, Line 1 went back to normal, but Line 2 was suddenly syncing at ~32k. Another port bounce, the lines reversed themselves again, Line 1 is showing a high FEC rate and a max rate of ~37k, and Line 2 is at ~50k just like when this all started.
I'm not sure what to make of this. I'm thinking maybe the card our ports are located on has gone stupid? I can't really thinking of anything that would cause the lines to keep inverting their stats relative to one another other than something like this.
