Since install (3 weeks) my lines have been taking FEC errors. I'm not sure when (or if) the NVG589 clears logs... However, I just checked mine and: Line 1: 240,000 / 37,000 Line 2: 143,000 / 28,500 I log into AT&T, and start talking to "Brill." We go through the normal basic info & troubleshooting process for about 15 minutes. Finally I'm getting frustrated, and ask to talk to someone... Brill: Please also check if all of the cables are properly connected. Me: My cables are fine. All are professionally terminated CAT6 to the RG, and HDMI to the TV's. Brill: Thank you for checking that for me. Brill: Have you recently added any third party devices such as a switch, (any brand) router, Apple Time Capsule, or any network hub? If so, please disconnect the device. Me: Look, I install the AT&T backbone for a living. I know how this stuff works. Do I need to upload a CAD drawing, PowerPoint, or Visio diagram to troubleshoot a constant stream of FEC errors even when my TV's are turned off? Brill: Okay. Just to clarify, is that a 3rd party device? Me: Are you kidding me? Brill: I am sorry to hear that. Me: Forward me to someone that has a clue what they're talking about... please. Brill: I apologize for that Charles. As I have checked here on our system, it shows that we need to reboot your modem however, there's a possibility that this chat will disconnect. What I can do is to provide you a link where you can chat back with me if the issue still persist. Brill: Please let me know if you are ready for the link. Me: If you reboot before forwarding me to someone with a clue I'm going to be 100% off. It is clear you're reading from a script, and this is going to get us nowhere. IN fact, I feel like you're wasting my time. Brill: I understand. The link that I will provide to you will connect to me directly if the issue still persist. Me: Screw this... don't reboot my RG, and do not provide me a link. It.. Me: see,s..s Me: likkeeeeee Me: myyyyy Me: scer I remembered they used a regular house jack with beanies to terminate in my garage (by my rack). I just replaced with a punch down jack, and will see how it goes....
